  • Prokofiev's great ballet is about to be revived at the Royal Opera House in London's Covent Garden. To mark this revival, here is a brief documentary presented by Jonathan Cope and first transmitted in 2007. There are contributions from Carlos Acosta and Tamara Rojo, along with Samuel West, Gerard McBurney, Donald MacLeary, Monica Mason, David Drew and Kenneth MacMillan, the ballet's choreographer. The film clips also include Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn in the two principal roles and the programme is uploaded here with all due acknowledgements under the 'fair use' option.

Seymour was fabulous......but Nureyev and Fonteyn were just plain unsurpassable.....despite Margot's age ...she was STILL perfect.....and no one couid touch Rudi......
