Zojoji Temple of the Tokugawa family in Tokyo (Edo).
The way they pray is like a scene from a drama.
The Tokugawa clan lost everything but they still exist. They don't have much wealth left, lots of their treasures were destroyed by US bombing in the war. I feel bad for them, a thousand years of honor and influence snuffed out and now the current clan members have to work ordinary jobs like ordinary people.
Mr, Sanada is a real Samurai
He clearly knows his business.
So THAT'S why the new Shogun show wasn't crap. Now we need to get the rest of Hollywood to do this.
The show was really great !
It's also an adaptation of a best selling novel.

撮影中に事故がないように神式でお祓いをすることはよくあるけど、仏式なのは珍しいなあ、と思ったら物語のモデルである家康所縁のお寺なんだね。なるほど。

@@rsstenger5113what do you know? Buddhism and Shintoism don't oppress women like the Abrahamic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The idea that women should be covered and hidden comes from those religions.
It's bizarre to think the gods who created the human body would want people to be ashamed of it to the point it should be covered.

ここは増上寺といいます。徳川家康が深く信仰したお寺です。
I'm from SEA. Although Buddhism practices are a little bit different in different cultures, these ceremonies are usually for the blessings, good luck and success. It can be something like a movie project (like this one) or when moving to a new house or even when constructing a building, there's a ceremony like this one.
仏教は国や地域によって独自の発展をしていて、かなり異なります。大まかにいえば、大乗仏教と小乗仏教に別れます。
ざっくりした説明すると、大乗仏教は修行しなくても全ての人々が救われます。小乗仏教は出家して修行しなければ救われないという教えです。
徳川家康が信仰したこの寺は、日本では「浄土宗」と呼ばれ、大乗仏教です。
大乗仏教は人々の欲望を肯定します。「仕事で成功したい」という欲望も肯定し、受け入れるのが大乗仏教です。
それに関しては様々な意見があります。

Perhaps something to do like praying to the God for successful movie or tv, since it's about samurai cultures.

@@peacejoy1396 not even kidding, i don't watch the shogun yet. But since i recently watch buddhist chanting videos before this, my answer is something rituals from Buddhism religion to pray to their God for the successful film, like i said since the film was about samurai.
Samurai history cannot seperated by Buddhist cultures, so it's not surprising that some actors wants to dive deeply to do Buddhism rituals to embrace the samurai history itself, to acting as characters from that era.
Im sorry if you still not taking me seriously, im not even samurai nerd, but i do like listening buddhist chanting like this one.

This was the most moving and touching thing I’ve ever seen and will ever see in my life. The way Hiro San (Hiroyuki Sanada) was sitting as THE Shōgun… I was struck by his energies, his aura… and all the others were so deeply touched either. But the moment Hiro San handed over the hat what I presume either belonged Tokugawa Shōgun originally or maybe a replica to the priest… my tears started flowing.
Already the fact itself that this wonderful ceremony of blessing was thought of and organized in a shinto shrine, is unique in the history of filmmaking. May the Gods bless the creators, cast, crew and everyone involved in this cinematographic gem richly for all times and may its legacy live on in generations to come.

Good pointing that out as from the Buddhist temples i visited from Thailand to Hongkong to Japan to Malaysia and even in the United States, I think although Mariko is stunningly adorable in the black dress, she shouldve covered her shoulders with a scarf or denim jacket would have been more appropriate in Buddhist formalities.🤔🤔 I have always stated that although Buddhism is not Islam where women are not allowed to even show long hair and what not, in religious places of faith - Buddhism does emphasize that men and women should dress modestly.🤔🤔🤔
