Listen to Floor's growl at 3.58 😂
To help you with interpreting the lyrics, keep this backdrop in mind: Like all the songs on the Imaginarium album, it supports the overall movie plot line. The concept of a river is often used by Tuomas as a metaphor for the unstoppable flow of life. It has a beginning and an end. The current carries you through, inexorably, past the many things you must pass: rapids, calms, scary things, pleasant things, and in the end you die, i.e., the river ultimately takes your only child (the child within every man's heart that never grows up but becomes disillusioned and emotionally dead when the river shatters its innocence). He implores you to not pass up the opportunity to leave a "bloody" footprint (your unique DNA, your signature??) on every island you see, for you will never pass that way again. Those thoughts of the underlying metaphor should help with framing the interpretation. I would call it more melancholy than dark.
One of the best read on the lyrics I have ever seen. Makes perfect sense given that the Imaginaerum album concept is that of dying composer looking back on his life.
"Your only child" that the river is going to take and drown is that inner child in one's heart and makes his first appearance on Imaginarium in Storytime as Peter Pan. Although Tuomas also uses that metaphor frequently long before Imaginarium, viz., Dead Boy's Poem, Bless the Child, etc.
Ghost River is part of the album/film music Imaginaerum. The content is about the lifelong conflict between the main character and his alter ego / traumas. At the time of telling the story he is suffering from dementia and the river leads to oblivion and death.
The lighting technique on Marko here, where his face is lit from underneath, is similar to that used on Bela Lugosi in the original series of Universal "Dracula" films...
The song may be about facing up to your fears and overcoming them to achieve what you want in life, a common theme in Nightwish, and in Finnish "Sissu" philosophy. Life is risk and danger, but it has to be faced if you want to get anything out of it. "It's a scary ride we'll give anything to take".
Did you notice Gloors little growl?
Emppu dancing crabwise across the stage?
Sfter Marco's "leper child" section, Floor gets into very long phrases that require enormous breath control as she starts even and gradually introduces vibrato.
Great reactions thanks!
This is my favorite song from Nightwish to me. Deep Dark Ocean is my other. Marko is so Metal 🤘
Yessss!!🙌🏼
You are right, Floor in this special bit sounds like pure angel descending from heaven singing Halelujah... and the tears run again...
That's what I love about music. You can entupret it anyway it fits you. My personal thoughts. Marco is the troll under a bridge. Trying to scare the kids away from the water. Floor is a siren luring the kids to the water to drown them.
Floor also gives everyone a glimpes of her growling.
🇬🇧 Norfolk reports for duty strapped in and ready to go 😊
They said that they will not be touring the next album, but I'm willing to bet that they will be attending festivals, or doing more shows. They created a virtual environment for shows during covid so maybe they will be doing more of those?
Anyway, if they aren't touring then maybe their 11th album may follow the one being released this spring rather quickly. Less touring, more songwriting? 😁
The festivals are part of the tour. I don't think they show up there.
I hope they give a concert with a live orchestra. This has never been done before and is missing. Maybe Tuomas will also tour with Auri, his side project. There are only two studio albums from them.
The next album completes a triology. So far, Tuomas hasn't said that he has a new big idea that he wants to compose something about. He has writer's block all over again. But that can change overnight.
Some growling by Floor @ 2:11 & 3:58
Nice reaction 🤘🇫🇮
Tuomas Holopainen (keys ) songwriter, composer. KIITOS.
Dark Chest of Wonders is the opener of this show
And I can already tell you all of the songs from it are amazing lol
I have a feeling that the choice not to tour this next album has to do with how so much of it was worked out on tour. Tuomas just had so much stuff from the pandemic that the normal band camp was just not as important that and the loss of Marco. That band camp process was spread out across the tour and so felt much as if it has already been toured. I also think Auri and Floor's more pop oriented solo career are going to give this next album a much heavier sound to conclude the Trilogy started in Endless Forms. Add in first the cancer and then the pregnancy an album tour soon just doesn't make sense. A more event driven sparser schedule is much more likely.
Maybe, but 24 releases the new album and the tour would probably range from late 24 to 25. 26 is the 30th anniversary for the band so my guess is they don't tour for the album but prepare for an anniversary tour.
Yes, Although based on comments Floor made in one of her solo shows the decision not to tour the next album seems to come more from the other band members rather then Floor. She seemed to indicate that she wanted to tour the album.
@@rnowak85 I imagine this is so. But I'm also aware that given her history it is a bit of a job to keep her restrained. The Wolf wants to roam. It seems to take a bit of work to get the Hound its time.
I don't need any tours, I get enough just watching Wacken 2013.
This song is maybe a bit hard to understand on its own, as it is part of the conceptual album 'Imaginaerum'. The album itself is an essential part of the movie with the same name, also known as 'the Nightwish movie' from 2012. It's about an aging comoser suffering from dementia, going on a journey between his lost memories and between dimensions, where he meets the creatures that drive him where he is now. It's pretty much about Tuomas, who is also playing 'himself' and the other band members (back then with Anette as the lead vocalist) playing different creatures.
The movie itself was not really successful outside the Nightwish fandom and honestly i do see why, but as a fan and loving the music, it is an eerily creepy beatiful fever dream. And the vibe is just up my alley too.
Always love your reations and your awestruck looks when this band surprises you. Did you notice Floor's subtle growls during the duet with Marco? Added Subscriber here!
PLEASE do The Greatest SHow On Earth. Also anything from Ayreon Universe 😍😍
I'm not 100% what this song is about. But right or wrong, what i get from it is Marko's warning us about how dangerous the Ghost River is. Floor is basally saying if you truly love me, take a chance and try to cross the river to me.
I see it as the River of Life. Here Gaia is being tempted from the true path by the Tempter (metaphor for bad intentions?).
In the end you may visit many islands in your journey down the river of life and in the song Gaia refuses to be diverted from the true path.
Fanciful? Maybe...
@@NickBR57 Just as good of a guess as mine. 😂
@@OlettaLiano well, we know Tuomas' deliberately leaves room for individual interpret as tion most of the time. So there is probably no right answer.
Valtte may have seen an explanation from Tuomas...
Unfortunately, their most recent album, Human Nature, dropped in April 2020 right when the pandemic was really kicking off so it took over 2 years before they could start touring again. I think they’re supposed to go back into the studio to record the next album sometime in the spring or summer of this year so it could be awhile before they go on tour again.
For more Nightwish, I recommend 7 Days To The Wolves and Yours Is An Empty Hope, both at Wembley.
For something slightly different, Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down. 💜
They have already recorded the new album, and it is supposed to come out sometime in April. I can't wait!😊
@@tuuli4002 Exactly, and they won't be touring anytime soon unfortunately
Already recorded - keep up
I CANNOT wait for you to get to Yours is an empty hope!! I personally am partial to the Wembley version because I feel like it just sounds better. If no one has spoiled what’s going to happen during the song than I can’t wait to see you pick up on it 😂🙌🏼
My personal NW favorite. Different performances have different highlights, but overall, definitely Wembley.
Marco😍!!
I have missed their last 2 appearances in Portland, for a few reasons: Work scheduled for that day/time w/time off denied. Venue is in an unsafe part of town. Venue is notorious for mistreatment of the ticket holders.
Pls react to Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (Yannis Papadopoulos Cover) you will love it and then BEAST IN BLACK - Blind And Frozen (OFFICIAL VIDEO) same singer 🤗😊
and also you will love this song 😁🤗
Cheers 🍻
I don't know if she poses better, but Floor's sister cuts a pretty mean silhouette too!!! 😄
Marko Hietala & Floor.
Have you reacted to weak fantasy by Nightwish with Floor singing it's amazing
+ Marko Hietala.
Yes, look at the lyrics. Which one is evil? - Marko tells you what will happen, Floor "lures" you across anyway!?
Pose better then Floor....? There is only one, who will put that off,...Freddie Mercury! God, if only those two could've done a collaboration together, that would've been awesome! R.I.P. Freddie.
Volume up!

Most of the pop 'princesses' could learn a lot from Floor about being and looking sexy on stage, without dressing and gyrating like some sort of cheap streetwalker.
why is your audio so poor in mono quality?........
Must be just you. It was in stereo for me - it's clearly in both channels.
No, the music is in mono quality@@L3onOfKings
@@christwillems1777Okay, so why did I hear it in both ears of my headphones? surely mono sound would only come through one?
No mono comes to both ears but right and left are not seoatated.....try you amp and switch the mono.stereo button.@@L3onOfKings
