@@ST-xg3gyit's all about singles titles that matters. Look in this video Mcenroe didn't mentioned his doubles titles. BTW if you include his doubles titles he still fells short of Graf's tally. Graf has 23 total slams ( 22 singles slam + 1 doubles slam) >> Mcenroe 17 slams (7 singles + 9 doubles + 1 mixed)

Miss both of them. When I was a kid and introduced to tennis, always cheered for them (while my dad was cheering for Pete Sampras and Monica Seles). But honestly the tension and emotions that the 1999 RG final against Hingis and Medvedev, was what made a 14 years old me fall deeply in love with tennis. My 8 year old daughter's playing tennis now and I show her a lot of Steffi's reels and videos.

Oh my gosh I just discovered pickleball recently. My coworker talked about it and I looked into it because what the heck is pickleball. I played tennis in highschool early 2000s and fell in love with it. It's so awesome to see Agassi here :) I want to get into pickleball now!

That is the point - Agassi brags and brags and compares himself favorably (8 vs. 7 slams) with McEnroe. But Steffi only smiles and finally says “boys will be boys“ while an insert reminds us that this woman won 22 slams.

Yeah Mac & Agassi won slam in a best of 5 set format vs Graf best of 3 set format but 22 slams is far bigger than 7 or 8 in any format.

I don’t really get why McEnroe thinks winning his 7 grand slams at just two events is better than Agassi winning his 8 grand slams at four different events…am I missing something?
Because in Mcenroe's era Wimbledon & us open were the two biggest event. French open were mainly considered prestige by European players & nobody considered A.O a slam. But now things changed.
I'm pretty sure that people considered winning the career grand slam (which includes the French and Aussie Opens) as the mark of a great long before McEnroe's era...Laver was considered a great for doing it twice...in the same year.
@@stephenlow1841 yeah that's right but things changed in 70's. Remember Connors played A.O just twice (1974-75), Borg played just once in 1975. Evert played just 6 A.O & despite being the GOAT in clay she missed 3 F.O (1976-78) to play WTT otherwise she would have 10 F.O titles & over 20 slams. But things changed from late 80's when all 4 slams gained equal status. But still A.O seen as a distant 4th most prestigious slam in 90's. Players like Agassi didn't play there till 1995 even Graf herself didn't played in 1995/96 when she was easily the favourite to win. So it's tough compare their slam tally to big 3 or Serena who played literally every slam unless they were injured. Now all 4 slams gained equal status & have same prize money. In fact Mcenroe 8 year end championship (5 WCT finals + 3 ATP finals) were far more prestigious than winning A.O at that time but not now.

Sometimes, I think it's a shame to go from tennis to pickleball. If you're not strong enough to play a fast tennis, then play a slow tennis but not pickleball :)
