How to fix a floating goldfish to swim like normal again

- Floating is usually caused by gas build-up from something digestive related, the first protocol I listed helps to correct that, but if its not digestive, it may be more serious and you’re gonna have to look deeper into it. #fish #swimbladderdisease #infection

If it's dropsy and the organs inside the fish have already shifted there is basically nothing you can do.
Feed the fish well. Try to keep it upright with a diy device, if it's filling with fluid try to drain it.
Like Luke said what ever is causing it if it's severe usually a fish swimming on its side or can't stay upright is already a sign it won't live much longer. Had a goldfish live about 6 months with this and others live not even 2 weeks

All my fish were swimming weird one day. I was ready to panic, then I noticed the new light was really bright and shining right into the side of the tank. After shining it in my own eye for a few seconds, I too had to turn my head sideways. Got a new light, everyone is fine now.
I just got goldfish a few months ago and they are swimming perfectly fine

So my two goldfish swim just fine until after they're done eating. Afterwards they will swim to the top of the tank, eat a bunch of air, and then get stuck floating upwards. They do it every time. It used to be so bad that I wouldn't feed them at night because they'd be stuck with their backs out of the water all night. We haven't had that stuck overnight issue in a while, but why do my guys keep eating air?
I have two goldfish in a 29 gallon fishtank. The tank is fully cycled and has been since I got them. The water is kept at room temperature which is about 75 degrees. Originally it was only one fish doing it but now both are. Both came from the same LFS. This question isn't just for Luke but really for anyone 👌
I notice that some goldfish just have a bad habit. I had one of my goldfish who used to go to the surface after eating like every day for a few hours he would gulp at the surface while the others didn't. I try everything even epsom salt but then I realize he would do that out of a habit because after almost a year he start to do it less and was swimming much better. If it isn't any other issue then some goldfish would do that I heard it also from some other person mention it happen to them. That's why some people would put plants at the surface to float to discourage them from doing that. Because they are domesticated and friendly they behave like that unlike fish in the wild they would stay at the bottom when people or animals come.
Mine is the exact same situation, haven't figured out a solution yet, but I'm gonna try to make a PVC pipe barrier to stop him sucking air this January. Apparently for fancy goldfish their anatomy is messed up so that their swim bladder pipe (which is attached to their esophagus) is extra short so they push air into their swim bladder when they suck air. Also recently switched to sinking pellets, because I think he learned to suck at the surface to get food, since some of his old food would float, and he hasn't gotten out of the habit yet. Mine's a Ranchu, what are yours?
@@rachelmilt2058 The one that started the habit was a common goldfish that is still small despite being about a year old now. His name is Lil Bit. The one who picked up the habit from Lil Bit is a comet goldfish named Volo. I don't have any fancy goldfish
EDIT: Lil Bit used to eat flakes but we switched to sinking pellets at the beginning of the year I think. There's used to be another fish named Emmet who was Lil Bit's tank mate before Volo. Emmet was a bully and constantly chased Lil Bit around whenever it was food time. I'm assuming that's where the habit began but Emmet is gone now and Lil Bit still does it despite Volo being chill.
