In 2001 there was a "Tribute To Brian Wilson" special at Radio City Music Hall in NY. It aired on TBS, I believe. It was a great show, was available on DVD at the time.
???? Apparently he's still alive, Brian Douglas Wilson is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer best known for being the multi-tasking leader and co-founder of the rock band the Beach Boys. I know this will not make me popular here, but...something about this comes off as half-baked to me. It isn't that the vocals are bad, but the entire thing feels rushed and unrehearsed. I don't think the backup band did them any favors.
I somewhat agree. I think the main problem is the tempo. The original You're So Good to Me had that great, driving bass line, and those precise la-la-la-la background vocals. They're here, but they lose something at this faster pace. Also, it probably was indeed rushed and unrehearsed due to Chynna's understandable family commitments during the previous week.
It could've been better, yes, but it was live, probably not much reehearsed, arranged for their style and on top of that Chynna must have been emotional.
Is it just me, or does anyone else get the feeling that China and the Wilson sisters don't like each other? I saw them in concert about 2 years ago and got the same feeling. It feels like they're competing.
Jason Brown: Not to sound rude or any sort but I agree with you.How and why so, dealing competition? I think so which is a very imature standard from both Carnie and Wendy and I think so because it was Chynnas idea to form the group so Ive read so it was a favor in the name of their parents Chynna did.....adding Chynna is to be the best voice of the group honestly.Their business anyway.Family and friend tides that sometimes collapse you know?
@@jeannadal8493 I haven't seen enough of them outside performances to figure that out but I've seen them separately state how much they love each other but of course If they broke up after 3 years in Wilson Phillips it sure wasn't because they got along that well.
Wendy, (what went wrong?) Carnie Wilson, and Chynna Phillips. AWESOME group! Chynna, sorry but your sister has been in my book, since "Where were you, in 62." But, you are much prettier, and sing with Brian's Girls. steve

She's referring to John Phillips, who passed away in 2001, shortly before the tribute show.

That "backup band" is the Wondermints, who have been touring with Brian Wilson for 20 years now. They are, to put it mildly, simply terrific.
