This was the STRANGEST GRANADA campaign in EU4...

- That's right, today we try EU4's hardest start! EU4 GRANADA! Much harder than EU4 Byzantium, we're going to attempt a re-reconquista by fighting off Portugal, Castile and Aragon! Not only that, we have to contend with Morocco and Tunis too! I might've ended up watching my own EU4 Granada guide for this one... yes, I used to make EU4 guides. If you want an EU4 challenge, look no further than trying to restore Andalusia!
GRANADA is the HARDEST NATION in EU4...

Whenever I try playing as Grenada, I can never get the Ottomans to ally me. Whenever I play as Castile, I can never get the Ottomans to NOT ally Grenada.
This is the way.
Fun fact: so people stop letting pretender rebels win, they made it so the pretender's stats are a scam and not accurate. Hope that helps
@Chris Porter yeah I break to eu4 then started a new campain my son is rebelled his stats are showed more (5 5 6 or something like that) then he becomed 2 1 3
I despise paradox
I once had a 666 pretender rebel who turned out to be a 112 when my heir was 424
@@MahmutHaydut politics
I thought this was well know but I am an intermediate player I guess at 2k hours
In my first eu4 game, i was castille and granada immediately allied the ottomans, i invaded anyways, and lost
you were clearly not a seasoned eu4 player. A really good player simply alt-f4 and poof!!! They are really good.
I had that happen to me one time but I just waited for the ottomans to attack someone and then full occupied granada till free 100% war score was even able to take some shit from ottomans though the peace deal since there armies got stuck in Italy
@@Pichu-zm9qk i had never played eu4 before, all my paradox experiance was hoi4 and stellaris
@@averagepeopleproductions7023 that was like my 4th or 5th game I played Castile 5 times in a row for my first couple of games since they are really easy compared to other nations and it helped me learn the game
@@CharlieKellyEsq wrong, a true seasoned eu4 player would have no cb-ed Byz on Dec 11 and after vassalizing them crippled the Ottomans before even checking Granada's allies
They kind of half-assedly removed the ability to spot good pretenders since it made it pretty easy to remove bad rulers. The ruler stats displayed in the rebel screen are no longer accurate. It's dumb that it still shows the stats though since it's literally just a lie now.
Kinda makes sense? ''Our leader is much better as the current one'' and then it turns out he isnt.
@@MrRoyalOss yes and no. It’s a game. That you paid money for. It should under no excuse knowingly lie to you. Pdx just hates its players, I’m convinced at this point. How many decisions in CK3 and EU4 don’t tell you that they block or disable other ones? And then the whole campaign is fucked…
As far as I know, if you do not kill the pretender army the ruler should have the stats which are mentioned in the screen
@@nikolaitregouet "you paid for it, so it should be what you want" Is about the dumbest argument. Instead, you pay for it *because* it is what you want. Also by that logic it should do whatever pdx wants it to do since they paid more to make it.
@@michalhruska362 No. He used to. Not anymore, it was changed.
Laith: *gets baited by the ai*
* game crashes mysteriously after a battle*
You’re just like me
Granada always seems to beat castile in my games, and I have no idea why. Maybe the Spaniards just feel bad for the Reconquista
That's actually really funny to me since my first main nation was Castille
If you mess with an ais normal game by defeating them in some weird non historical war they start to suck.
Usually it's because Granada allies Tunis and Morocco and Castile declares on Granada alone. Tunis, Granada, and Morocco combined have a bigger navy and army than Castile.
Lucky. I never see that in my games :(
In mine the Iberian Christians blitz across north africa like it's a Chinese buffet at Christmas.
I wonder if he knows about that gold mine in Tafilalt… this is like the second time when he completely ignored it but this time whilst complaining about not having a gold mine LOL. Ggs tho, good vid
If you have not done it yet, it would be fun to see you attempt to get the "Eat your Greens" achievement
To be honest I like that you show when you Alt+f4, it adds toy our honesty.
Granada is easy, you know the really hard start? Naxos or Candar.
Candar can get to the caucasus
If you ask me, navarra or rostov is the most difficult
@@suola-sirotin Karabakh is pretty bad too
Beloozero feels like an instant loss
@@nathanhempel5135 rostov is beloozero but harder. The only somewhat consistent strategy is to get poland to rival muscovy, and support independence right as a diplo slot opens from annexing mazovia
Alternatively you could try same with denmark and holstein
as a hoi4 player, i somewhy love watching this and having no idea what the f are you doing
Good job bro, you'r really good at this game
hey man loved the vid. is there any chance you are going to make any of these runs into a mini series? the Provence and Prussia runs come to mind, as well as this run right here.
Some I’m tempted to for sure! Usually it has to be a special sort of campaign, but I never rule it out!
@@TheSocialStreamers would love to see you try converting Europe/the world ro another religion, if you're not going to continue the Hussite one!
Or even just a WC, we have for the most part only seen your early game strategies, would be fun to see further into a game

I'd like to see Dithmarschen become the Caliphate
Great and funny video! Truly feel your pain.
I'm kinda conflicted on this. Firstly, I really wanna see Laith continue on this amazing campaign. But on the other hand, I fear this playthrough might be a health issue for him 😛
Oh man I remember doing this. The sheer euphoria of victory after well over a dozen attempts was something else.
Once again asking for longer campaigns!
Love seeing the starts but I enjoy playing longer campaigns than the first 20 or 30 years..
That was amazing. Not many people post videos playing garnada
Hell yeah I love Granada, one of my favorite starts. Hope you consider continuing this and restore glorious Al-Andalus
we totally need to get this played in a part 2! he needs to make up to Tunis.
Would like to see more of this campaign. I expect it might be slightly easier from here?
I had a Granada game a few months ago. It was quite relaxing 😌
amazing editing
Hey Laith! Loved the video as always. Just wanted to let you know that there is a goldmine in the province of Tafilalt. And if you don’t know, now you know.
Anyway thank you guys for the great content!
Btw I’d love a part 2
Well, you gotta continue. Looking forward to you breaking down into classic "German kid with keyboard" levels
you HAVE to continue this series
Hey I love this longer content but are you going to continue your other stuff. Like annte belum or Prussia?
Ooo that was a very satisfying uvular plosive in "Malaqa"
What an epic opener.
Tips for granada umayyad roleplay, after starting the game you guys should get new heir, you either get zirid dynasty, or umayyad dynasty.
Haha, yes! I like seeing my fav youtuber struggle.
god i love this editor
I'd argue both Byz and Granada being sort of easy as of late since the Byzantine really only need to build some galleys and Granada can easily gain access to an Ottoman alliance which steamrolls the Iberian conquest.
IMHO one of the hardest start in EU4 is gotta be Mzab: 2 province minor Ibadi nation with raiding focus national ideas with no access to the sea, sandwich between Morocco and Tunis with no economy to speak of, hated by everyone, with no alliances available and constantly at risk of being invaded since even if you are miraculously able to expand in the Magreb region the Iberians and even the Italians are waiting just around the corner.
I remember Laith did a video on Mzab, would be nice to see a second take on the nation, If I remember correctly there's even an achievement called "an unlikely candidate" which prescribes to form Al Andalus starting from Mzab, Tougurt or Fezan.
Honourable mentions for "hardest starts" also go to Trebizond, Ryazan and Trent.
personally I find Mzab and Fezzan starts fun. I've started "The third way" runs 3 or 4 times and getting started hasn't been the issue(it's the late game blobing that tires me out).
Not saying it isn't a hard, just wouldn't consider it impossible.
@@that1dud274 I've my self mastered the opening and the first 20 years but after that I get blocked either by the Iberians or by the axes Tunis-Ottomans.
@@Old_Harry7 in my experience, Tunis ends up allying one of the other minors, so you can declare war on the minor, annul Tunis's alliance with the Ottomans, and then later come back for a 1v1 against them. Just be aware annul treaties is only 10 years, so you would only be able to take ~45% WS without risking truce length being longer than annul treaties and them just re-allying.
After you annex Tunis, you can reform them and use their missions to access Sub-Saharan Africa(need Golden Century dlc)
@@that1dud274 I usually ally Morocco, attack Tlemcen and wait for Tunis to attack the Algerian nation, at that point I vassallyze Tlemcen in order to drag Morocco into a defensive war against Tunis, in the peace deal I usually take forts and the coastline.
By the end of the first 10 years I found myself in a pretty good position owning the majority of the Magreb area but at that point the alliance with Morocco usually goes into the gutter and the Iberians gang on me, nor the Ottomans or the Mamluks are willing for an alliance and therefore I'm 3 vs 1 with also rebels problems and short on manpower.
As someone who plays Mzab to try and get the Unlikely Candidate achievement, I know this stress well
That was a awesome war
man honestly it's shocking how sometimes you make this shit look so easy
10:03 idk if PDX fixed it but last time I played a campaign where I vassalized a tag that wasn't a co-belligerent and in another war I didn't end up fighting their war.
Next you should play Ardabil. I've found it much more difficult than it used to be since Qara Qoyunlu is now always hostile/domineering.
So karabakh is even more hard
@@user-fx3ft3fj1q Well, with Karabakh, you're at least going to get Qara Qoyunlu's enemies to help you. Ardabil is sandwiched between two people who hate you more than they hate each other.
Ardabil got the achievement to form Persia, right? In that case I was lucky to get it on my first try. But what I struggle with really much is Riga, can't wait for the dlc to arrive, either I'm more screwed than before or it's not s challenge anymore
11:30 It was a stackwipe because of the Force, not because of the four.
11:06 Laith looking like Anakin Skywalker here
With pretenders, accepting demands and collapsing to rebels are 2 differents things and IIRC only one of them actually give the predicted number (or atleast that how i managed my granada run 2 patches ago)
I see your granada, and I raise you beloozero
Thanks!
The granada strat is basically to devour as much sand as possible until you hit the mamluks , laith. Then you attack the europeans.
Poggers we need more
as much as I found Albania hard, out of the 3 you mentioned it kind of is the easiest, sure you have little to no focus tree (good bonus though) and you are playing as Albania. you are catholic and it makes getting allies so much easier
That's the most chaotic war that have ever seen
Part 2 of this pls
this video was really funny xD
Please continue
I need the second part
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CONTINUE
Hi! It was really fun watching you suffering while playing. Nice job surviving and expanding!
Anyway I must confess I don't think Granada is the hardest. A pain? Yes, of course! But the most difficult nation I have found on this game is Naxos. Test It, please, and then cry manly tears with me!! XDD
Naxos has some great ideas which make them both as a great subject and as a successor to Alexander the Great, which makes it better after you beat the Ottomans.
I would have thought Navarra was more difficult but oh well
Beautiful, Lucky game
Continue it!!!
Let’s do it !!!
Yes, I'd appreciate more of this suffering.
Tbh the best plan as Grenada is to just exodus to the new world. Take Algeria like you did, then go exploration then go ham in Brazil. Or hard save for exploration whilst on Iberia.
Naxos Playthrough when?
It took me about 17 goes over 2 years to get win as Granada.
pls continue
1:59 i think we all know this feeling
Oh man, how did i miss this one!
This Granada game is amazing!
I won aas Granada some time ago, from the 2nd try.
My first try i was following a guide, don't remember who from, but after lots of save scum i sayed that's it. So in my 2nd attempt i didn't really do the same but it worked out from first try, no crashes there.
I did had to crash the game one time...when a huge France joined and declared on me in coalition...an unwinnable fight....
But other that that i didn't use this tricks. It was prety easy
If you change the ruller as fast as possible with a good one and have focus on military power... have lvl 4 mil while castile and portugal only have 3...and it is a massacre. Stack wipe after stack wipe. The only requirement is to have as much of Tlemcen as possible in order to have big enough loans.
And with lots of mercs, everything is possible. I was having around 30k troups. And i was taking around 1 loan per month lol
17:25 i think thats the first time ive ever seen ai English land troops in a war other than france.. usually they just sit in england doing nothing
i suggest you continue the reward from al andalusis so worth it
"This is such a cursed game."
It knows. It knows you "crashed".
You should vassalize the tlemceny so you don’t have to core It and you get more force limit
Navarre is right there ma dude.
Enjoyable to hear an arabic-speaker play in this region to get the proper place names =)
continue please
Granada might be the most difficult European start in EU4? Okay, let us see how you do with Naxos
that granada tree is so tiny
Epic Game!
PLEASE finish this deconquista
Bro I was playing as the ottomans today and Granada completely destroyed Castile
More more!
According to Betteridge’s Law of Headlines, the answer would be “no”…
But I’ve tried it
you should release leon and asturias as vassals to colonize the new world for you
Laith I don’t want a part 2 this was must have been very painful for you to make
Do it. You can do it.
First West Rome and now this, are you ok Laith?
Or, "The One Where Laith finally loses it"
Next Mzab or Pate :D
13:02 you didnt take the gold mine?
This guy reminds me a lot to Call me Kevin
I'm from tlemcen (Algeria now)
feels bad how lonely tlemcen is in eu4
Granada is the hardest start
Naxos: am I a joke to you
That's happen every time to i saw 5-6-4 and got 1-2-0
Just lost a campaign not to castille or portugal but bc i thought i could solo both morocco and tunisia even though i soloed castille and portugal before but it ended up with a bankrupcy i swear granada is the hardest tag
And the fking ottom wont join any of my wars despite having lots of favs and they were huge by the late 14s i cant believe i wasted 4 hours of my time just to lose
8:04
You're welcome
you are Lieing D: the hardest start is Ayutthayas Vassal "Sukhothai , Ligor" no supporter for independence and Ayyu is a tributary of Ming Ming you alone fight Ayyu and Ming .. not winable :x
the ruler you get from pretender rebels is never the one they tell you will. It's always random.
p.s. as much as I like playing Granada, it's hell every time. After I got the achievement most of the time if I want to do and Andalusia run I'll just start as Morocco or Castile, no one will be able to tell from lategame screenshots anyways
more pain
im so confused why you didnt take the gold mine from morocco?
Yes! More pain to you! More! More! More! 🤣
Colonial Andalusia!
Yes, and I failed spectacularly every time
That one time i tried granada for the re reconquista achieveemnt i restarted like 10 times finally i had a good run where i didnt die by 1500 eat up all of morocco tunis and half of iberia and then the rest of castille gets pued by gigachad france who was having an amazing game ... i finally managed to call in ottomans against france and it was an even fight but since i was a World power 7th one but still one while otto and france number 1 and 2 gigachad commonwealth intervened otto litterally did nothing while i was deathwarring france quality while outnumber by 2 so i went 50k over force limit war lasted like 10 years i had no manpower no money looming bankrupty and i had 20% warscore and ottomans peaced out leaving me in a 1v2 so i peaced out took 3 provinces and went bankrupt and decided that this run is not the one unfortunately
The hardest start is definitely Beloozero, as Red Hawk found out many, many times
rostov/yaroslavl are probably harder
(and they have unique ideas too so hawk will have to play them lol)
be sure as a Tunisian I feel you /حاسس بيك 😅 / good game / جرينتا grinta بروح بدم bi rouh bi dam hahha
