I have decided to do a no buy month starting in January. I'm very nervous because this is the one place where I feel addiction still has a hold on me, the spend to feel good or spend because I have too much and lose track of it all. This was a very helpful beginning to the no spend time, thank you.
@@thereidunmarie It was amazing. There were some tough moments for me, but I loved having the instant NO, nope, not today. It reminds me so much of my sobriety and def the next needed layer for me. I'll be doing it again in March!
Know what I overbuy at 0:56 is a key for me. When I followed the project 333 I quickly saw I buy duplicates of clothes but also makeup out of a fear I will use them up and not be able to buy a replacement. That and too many impulse sales buys.
0:35 Yesss!!! On this new budgeting journey and it is changing my life! I’m quickly becoming a minimalist with purges happening so often. I go to the store, pick something up, appreciate it and the new me…puts it back down. Fantastic video. Great tips. Especially knowing your values. I’m in the woods on that one right now. Thank you for this video!
Deciding what's most important is a great way to begin a new season. We're constantly changing. I like to take a look at my responsibilities & then schedule specific time slots to ensure they get done. Once each season sit down & tweak those. I write my ideas in a day planner in order to be able to review / reflect on what works best. Luv'd this Elin!
Thank you for this video! What you say at 2:38 is very helpful. I have overshopped a lot to deal with stress, and now I'm still stressed and have a bunch of extra uneccessary things to stress out over too. It's so ironic. I hope to deal with it better from here on.
This was such a great video. I follow so many minimalist channels, but this is the first one I’ve watched that I think will truly help me “move forward with more intention” like you said. Thank you so much!
I overbuy Eos lip balm. I go over budget when I entertain and when I know the rare extended family member is coming for a visit. I want to appear more stylish and cleaner (like I buy new linens when people visit). It’s kind of overkill. But I still do it.
I'm ok at decluttering but terrible for acquiring stuff. Anxiety, depression and boredom are my triggers for shopping mainly. But I also have a level of OCD to my illnesses (it's also diagnosed). So that means that if I buy something for me it's often books. I will have to have almost every book I can find on that subject. I will compulsively shop for hours to find the perfect books too. I would love to be a minimalist but I have too much stuff. It also doesn't help that I do several art and craft hobbies.
The craft thing is a minimalism killer for me. I go to declutter and can think of craft projects for so many objects. It compulsive. I hav had to limit myself to Two crafts. Still creates clutter. My craft room is the one room I can’t seem to minimize
i’m struggling with letting go of things because the quality of clothing that’s available now is not equivalent to what I already have along with household things and shoes and my thought process is I’d rather be prepared to have a shoe then to have to run out and look for something so I have four pairs of shoes I don’t wear on a normal basis they are high heels but they are comfortable and they are basic so it will go with anything at any time and a part of me is wondering because my life has drastically changed as far as going out any events is, has it changed permanently? Or has it changed temporarily will I go back to dressing up more? Will I go back to going out more? Do I want to so until I can really answer honestly, those questions which comes down to who do I want to be at this moment and let tomorrow take care of itself.
Thank you for the values reminder. I do the same and hold on to really cool dresses, shoes or clothes that I am convinced might make just the right statement at the right time. However, your reminder of values reminds me that I am not really interested in making a statement over having peace right now through a decluttered existence. While I certainly can't deny that making a statement feels good, I think I can achieve that through a decluttered and curated approach, as well. Being released from the burden of stuff is something I value. Thanks so much for the perspective I needed.
I have a terrible tend to over buy books. I barely can find time to read. I keep thinking I will finally get my life in order enough that I can read every day. 😢 but I only seem to have less time, not more.
Trees and roses. I have no open space left but still can’t stop. Please do a video on how you decorate for the holidays and how not to get overwhelmed with decorations. 🥰
I work long hours and everyday but a healthy sandwich and smoothie. It is delicious and nutritious….. and expensive! My goal is to cut down to 2 to 3 days a week. It’s going to be hard because it works for me on many levels.
If it really works for you and it has a purpose in your life, you don’t need to cut it down necessarily! You can plan a budget and allocate a certain amount of money to that meal so that way you know where that money is coming from and how much you’ve spent overall 💓💓

awesome! Good for you!
Im doing no buy 2023 and nervous about it as well. I’m looking for a lot of inspiration and encouragement. Good luck to you 😊
How did it go? Sounds like a good idea

De-cluttering sets the stage, and strict budgeting/no-buy schedules are the magic.
Thank you for sharing openly about your struggles and challenges. I appreciate you.

I’m still decluttering today. Took out a total of 27 dresses from a closet.

Yes! Agree on the trench coat -why doesn’t anyone make a warm one?

Such great examples! It's interesting how are soft spots can be so specific!

I understand. I collect books, including several books on any particular subject. I'm not sure how to get beyond this.
@@janmarie2805 and I do too. 😕

I look forward to your posts. Thank you.
Aw, thank you Jill!
Thank you for your great videos! I love your calm voice, and I always get inspiration from your videos to keep my lifestyle minimal 🙏
Huh. "Surving Canadian Winters"??? Yup. There was that weird typo where you were talking about jeans.
You truly are a slice of light. Thank you 😊
Purses! I love them and know I cannot even look. If I look, I buy.
That's a toughy! ;)

Great advice...pay attencion know myself better
I often buy things that aren't in my style and then I'm not happy with them. This is something I want to change in the next year.
Love this kind of content! Thanks!!

For me it’s books. I’m dangerous on Audible. 😂
haha, at least that's not physical? But good to know your soft spots! :)
Oh my goodness, I know that drive (at 0:15). Unless that was random stock footage, you live near me! Are you ready for the frozen temps next week? :-)
haha, I guess? This snow has been a lot!! :)
