Fun fact about the Amazon: investing points in Magic Missile slowly decreases the amount of mana needed to fire the arrows.
It's not particularly helpful against the bigger foes she faces but your wallet will appreciate it early on and the lesser beasts will absolutely despise her limitless barrage of arrows
One of the great things about D2 is every class is VERY unique and VERY fun, cant go wrong. Also each class has various builds that change how they play entirely. For example, Druid can be melee focused, spell user, or summoner focused. Also can be more fire spell focused or wind focused, or of course a mix of everything. This is what makes D2 so replayable and fun, is playing all of the classes and building your style. Fuck meta and fuck people who think its the only way to play. Build what you like and just play, like we did in the old days :)
Cookie cutters bot players have killed mmo's and RPGs
Does anyone know how man skeletons you can have with a necromancer? It taps out at 20 points but google said you can have 20 skeletons. Is this true?
Personal Opinion in order of power/use:
1) Sorc: Low gear req, teleport as skill, easy to stack MF, good damage. Definitely the best before other classes have access to Enigma.
2) Paladin: Arguably more powerful in the damage department than sorc, but lacks mobility until enigma. Also smiter for Ubers. easy to face roll the game.
That's pretty much the meta power couple there, however the other classes do come into play depending on what you wanna do
3) Amazon: Very strong single target and aoe. Great for farming Cows on p8 with low MF for epic white bases, like Monarch for rune words. Cons: Lacks mobility until enigma, low FCR frames
4) Assassin: Lightning Trapsins are great for farming nihlathak. Strong normal through to hell, some argue that she is the easiest class to beat the game with.
5)Barbarian: Can be best at MF in endgame thanks to Find Item allowing for an extra shot at getting a drop, can also dual wield weapons which leads to insane MF stacking. Trouble is getting to late game can be tedious in SP, as melee builds lack AoE.
6-7: Druid and Necro in no particular order
This position doesn't make them bad, and this is just my opinion.
Druid: Solid class, very strong in normal with Fissure, can respec in NM for Wind skills and not have to worry about immunities in Hell. Also has solid melee potential and is good at MF. He's kind of an all rounder, doesn't really pop at one specific area. Still very fun though.
Necro: Similar situation to druid. Versatile class, able to do everything well just maybe not the best at any one thing. Still, he doesn't require much if any gear and is a fun experience with Corpse Explosion.

When playing a Barbarian, I recommend that Whirlwind skill is not selected. The penalty of the movement speed makes it hard to fight swarms of ranged opponents.
Overall, this is a good class. From the Leap Attack method of hopping towards a horde of enemies to the rapid slashes of Frenzy. He can hold his own. (At least in my experience)
When it comes to Necromancers...
My experience with Necromancer "pets" is mixed. Skeletal warriors are good in the beginning. This leads to Skeletal Mages, which is my favorite type of Necromancer follower.
But when it came to Golems, the Iron Golem's need for iron and steel items makes it painful for me in times of need. I know it is necessary for the Fire Golem, but I end up using the Blood Golem.
Teamed with Paladins, the aura bolsters the Necromanic army even further.
Then there is the Sorceress...
Hell difficulty gives her the most problems. The need to rotate three different elements is a must. Some champion monsters have dual immunities. Which means a third element is needed to survive.
The Druid faired well. With three main types of thought... (At least in my experience)
1. Bear, Wolves, Creepers, and a Hearts to have a similar play as Necromancer. But with elemental spells instead of curses to aid them.
2. Werebear or Werewolf focus. Along with a Heart, this is mainly a rip and tear mentality. Similar to a Barbarian, it is Melee-focused.
3. Elemental focused. Strong spells with just a Bear, Heart, and sometimes a Creeper.
As for the Paladin...
Game LORE Dash and others love him
The focus and simplicity of his kit make this Zakarum warrior easy to pick up. But also one that delivers a good amount of attention for a great build.

I agree it freaking amazing 10/10 experience this game was way ahead of it's time with leveling up and itemization those are my favorite two things from Diablo 2 and building a God like build to dominate the forces of the Prime Evils is never gonna get old.

Out of all the characters. Necromancer is the best all rounder and it is the only class able to bypass immunity when going through hell

Best class to start out with if you are in for the long haul is a mf sorc so as to fund your other characters. Then one can transition (optional) to hammerdin once they can afford an enigma which makes runs safer as he is more hardy and efficient due to the fact that there are not many mobs immune to magic damage . I would say pally is the most versatile. He is one of the best to pve/mf with and he was also one of the best in pvp as well. You can stomp uber diablo with like 1 point in smite too...very versatile character. Sorc while a pivatol character used as a stepping stone is good but begins to fall off in pve/mf at higher difficulties due to more monster immunities spawning (although can still be used but will just have to skip these monsters). The same in higher level pvp. They stomped at low pvp but in high level pvp where someone just had to stack absorb they were practically useless - physical, and magic damage were king here. As for the most fun personally windy druid was my favorite, also a great pvper. The thought of have having a cozy hurricane surround you damaging and slowing anyone that comes in contact with it along with throwing out twisters + summons really intrigued me. They also had a vine that followed them around to heal them using corpses lolz. I thought it was a pretty unique class and wished they had one for d3. Glad to see they brought it back in d4. Necros are also pretty high up there being great at pvp and pve depending on how you build. No one used them to mf though.

Funny just yesterday I thought to myself,when did gaming become only about the best. Best items, best build, best class fastest way of leveling.
All this going through my head while searching for so info in a forum to optimize a game I'm currently playing.
In the early days of gaming it was more about just fun. So I tend to say I don't give a s.. About best as long a I have fun.
And that's why I stopped playing online games because there is always this one build, class, item that's OP and if you play just for fun you will get smashed and the fun will slowly decrease.
So as long as you don't try to compete just play what you want.
So that said does anybody know will there be a opportunity to play in a Lan or private online game?
I remember moving our big ass PC and Monitors around to play together via LAN wold be great to not only have to do everything openly via the internet.

I think gaming was always, at least to a certain extent, about FINDING the best. The thing I like about games when they're new, is that no one knows what's best and everything is still chaotic and people are still experimenting. Diablo 2 is waaay beyond that point to me unfortunately and was hoping they'd spice up the revamp a bit with maybe some nerfs/buffs and some tweaks to characters/skills/enemies, but there is a large group of nostalgic type players and they overwhelm any type of progress. The old game exists, why go through all this work for ONLY graphics, when you could pick up where you left off and add some tweaks. The first few years of a game are best for this reason. Chaotic. Everyone is experimenting and doing all sorts of builds. After that, it's just forums, speed runs, being rushed and cookie cutter/min max builds.
If you want to go all the way through hell, I recommend a Necromancer or a Trap Assassin. Both can tear through mobs and remain safe at a distance.
I prefer the trap assassin, just leave traps in the room, leave and come back to see the corpses, its my fave class🤣

Axe mastery, and throwing mastery and double throw actually made my Barbarian a pretty good ranged fighter with throwing axes.
This is the only game of its kind where I had one of every class at max level. In fact I had more than one of each. It's also the only game where I love to each and every class the same as the other. I will undoubtedly have one of everything or more again but I can't decide on what to level first this time around.

Same. I'm gonna do my fav class first, which, coincidentally, is one of the best for farming, something that'll come in handy for the subsequent character. I'm talking about a blizzard/frozen orb sorc, of course!
The title of this video must be a trick question because there is no "best class" in Diablo games, especially D2.
That's what I've always liked about them: every class is viable.
It's all about player preferences; not being told, "x' class does this activity better than every other class." Sure, they all have abilities that define their class, but there's always a way to make a viable spec with your class in both PvP and PvE. Especially with the introduction of runewords in the LOD expansion, the Sorceress isn't even the only class that can teleport to do quicker magic finding runs.
It's all about player choice, and how much time they're willing to spend to optimize whatever class & build they desire.
Everything is viable but there are classes that just dump on the others in both pve and pvp

Sorc isn't the only class who can TP. She is the only class with native TP though, this is important because it only costs mana. If you bought a TP staff at lvl 21 in A3 normal as another class it still isn't the same. Each teleport charge ends up costing something like 2500 gold in repairs. Enigma is the real equaliser and it's main downside is "Jah" and "Ber" being super hard to find, and expensive to trade.
for me its clear, I start with sorc (not so gear dependant) and collect loot for my bowazon :)
With shared stash, as long as you create your entire family of characters (say one of each class), you can gear all of them at the same time =)
@@Francois424 shared stash doesn't change anything in terms of how people play the game. it just makes it easier to transfer gear, which we always could do before.
@@Stavroization Without the hassle of logging out/in, but not too fast so you don't get banned and lose everything. Plus the personal stash is much bigger (for each mule) and you can store runes/gems in the main shared stash for ease of access by all characters. It's a marvelous addition.
Who is team Assassin? Assassin is the best class of all classes, I use the fire trap(the second skill of fire trap skill tree) kill every horde in few seconds, kill every boss with 0 death. I would suggest who want to play my build, just upgrade mana2, hp1 dex1 and str1. Upgrade this skill as fast as you can and always bring 2 row of mana potion on your belt and some in inventory because it'll consume mana quickly when you spaming this skill. However don't underestimate any bosses they still have a chance to kill you, and when you fight with them, you should set the trap and run around the trap and focus on dodging boss attack. So you will end this game easily. (Moreover trap skill no distance limit)
I'm rollin a Sorceress, Amazon, then a Necromancer. Hyped for the remaster, not so for the carpal tunnel... Have leg!!
best class is still pally, easiest class to gear up to start MF'ing is Sorc, easiest class to speedrun is Druid, Pally can also rush some cheap budget Ubers, you can be doing Ubers day 1, especially with some help from friends.

These were my favourite class-build combos way back, but not sure if they are still viable in the future:
1) Trapassin
2) Summonmancer
3) Hammerdin
4) WWBarb

Trappers while not the best to pvp with at higher levels I would say were really fun to use regardless. Mindblasting people screens away or into your traps always put a smile on my face xD. They were annoying to fight though which was why I made one :D
Nothing will ever beat my old beloved 'bowadin' or my equally lovely 'tornado druid' ! :) Not yet sure for the bowadin, but i can only say the druid is already amazing in the equally fantastic Grim Dawn diablo2 mod.. Not sure you would want the official remaster 'only' after this one but... battlenet has its charms too.. I guess) but everybody interested in d2 should also try that amazing Grim Dawn d2 mod b4 imo; 100% d2, 100% enhanced too.. D2 xxl ! )

I personally always had a fondness for pets, I do like undead, and golems in D&D so Necromancer is always my first pick. Druid is a good runner up though for doing similar to the style of play I like.
Barbarian is really fun with the crazy moves he can do. I can't remember how many times I said "Screw finding the path/door, I'll just leap to where I wanna go!" xD Just hop around like I'm the Hulk, too bad they never implemented a way I could pummel all enemies to death sensibly with my iron fists!
Paladin never really felt fun, at least not alone.
Sorceress, I do like toying with a Melee build with her.
Amazon was never my style.
The Assassin is a curious one, my sisters favorite. Complicated but fun.
I don't care which is the best but necromancer will always hold a special place in my heart. D2 probably did the best portrayal of any RPG of what a necromancer can do and should be. Just raise an army and have a Paladin with you for aura buffs and you got one of the most powerful "duo" in D2.

Technically luck is the best class as you can make any class pretty much insane op gods of destruction with the right rune words. Maybe a mage to farm things first.
Characters that are most fun to play over a longer period of time are Druid, Assassin, and Amazon. Cuz they are not as simple as other four.
Have you tried making a melee sorceress? Things are only simple if you want them to be.

you shouldn't make suggestion videos for people, when you don't understand the game, and how the classes/builds work in the game.
So even though it's 100% certain that Blizzard is finished remaking/remastering their old games (they've already said as much), that doesn't mean we can't FORCE them to make a Diablo 1 HD with all the enhancements and re-implementations of cut content as demonstrated in the Belzebub mod AND including the Hellfire expansion...on top of all that, perhaps some end game activities, new unique items, etc to give fans of the original game more to do. Diablo 1 will always be THE Diablo game for me. Yeah, D2 is a better game in pretty much every aspect, but D1, in all its simplicity, is just such a special game.
So who wants to sign the petition asking, nay DEMANDING Blizzard to release the Diablo 1 game we deserve? Who's with me? Huh? Anyone? Guys? No one? Seriously? Goddammit...

well, the beauty of this game is ... all classes are really good in some aspects and kind of balanced. I really like them all. The best starter class as leaguestarter is probably sorc due to teleport but i dont like sorc in hc. The most broken for cheapest gear might be hammerdin ,trapsin and necro. Barb is extremely slow and tidious at levelling + gearing but honestly his shouts are really good for hardcore endgame and he has highest magic find potential in the game with 50%plus chance on double drop with dual weapons full mf gear on swap. Amazon and druid have really strong builds as well. Diablo 2 is one of the best games ever.😍😍😍

Hammerdin overall is ultimate char. Tons of defence, life ,dmg best for hardcore and there is like 3 enemies who are resistant to his attacks in whole game.
The frost nova is just beautiful.
It depends how close to the orrigional game they stay.
Easiest first character is paladin using magical hammer without "runeworlds" for fast cast and teleport u can solo pretty easily.
For grinding gear and speed running its a lightning sorce with runeworld infinity. Can clear all main bosses in 5mins or less.

Druid and Necromancers are the best if you wanna use their minions and make progress fast...
Barbarian take a long time to succeed...
Sorcerer is a good choice since her magic skills make the things easier and nicer.

Went ahead and preordered. The Beta has been really great so far. Played the first mission on all 5 classes. The Druid and Sorceress are my fave. Gonna go with the Druid I think.

Make a sorc first then necro. Learn teleport with sorc to get through act 3 an. Teach necro to farm destruction keys when you get enigma.
last time i played diablo i was a toddler like 4 or 5 idk. but i ran around and loved the bright colors. i never played any other diablo after 2. and i didnt get far as a child lol. i cant wait to jump back into this game as an adult who is a total gamer bro CHAD. (sike) and see what i missed out on lol
I think sorcerers is the most powerful and "cheap" character to make. And I don't even like to play with high damage+low hp heroes. My favorite was "Meteorb" Sorc.

1:58 "granted everything you swing on is going to feel the heft of your might" - Any monster that is immume to physical is laughing at your barbarian. Not even physical strength can save you all the time.
Personally I have always liked the Druid and normally put sikll points into pets (Ravens, Summon Wolf/Dire Wolf and especially Grizzly and Poision Creeper), fire attacks,(especially molten boulder), Oak Sage, and Cyclone Armor rather than transform skills and stats into strength, dexterety and vitality. Granted even a good level poison creeper doens't last long but its long enough to posion a group of monsters before getting killed off. High level grizzly along with oak sage, cyclone armor, 5 ravens, poision creeper, mercenary and using molten boulder on a group of monsters really helps later on in the game, especially in nightmare and hell modes so you can use those to attack groups of monsters from a distance while you take on other monsters yourself. Then I like Necromancer or Barbarian. Haven't really played as other characters yet.
1 point on berserker and fisical imunes is no more problem, or merc act 2 with reapers tolls, or ease runewords that give decrepfy on weapon, well....

As a veteran of Diablo 2, playing since it came out in 2000, I can tell you each class build will depend heavily on gear, and the bonuses they add. I’m hoping Runewords will still be a thing in the “resurrection”.

Sorceress is the best class to start... best for magic find because she start with teleport when other classes need Enigma to have it (an expensive runeword)... and because her set items have a lot of magic find. You start with this class and then you give them the items you farmed. The strongest skill line is debated, but best to start with a blizzard sorceress to kill Mefisto in the fastest way. The cold mastery is the only one that reduce resistance...and in Hell you will find a lot of immunes (that you cannot reduce via mastery) but at least you can reduce non immunes resistance to cold. Once you have Infinity runeword in your act 2 mercenary, your sorceress wil be broken. (It can remove immunities from mobs)
Frozen Orb with Fireball or Thunderstorm is another great build in Hell against immunes. You make both damages but there' a lot of dual immunes. with Blizzard I had no problem
Necrophile all the way, baby! I remember back when corpse explosion was an absolute nuke fest. Then they nerfed it which honestly was for the best. But damn was it fun.
I like the Necro for how incredibly diverse and versatile he is. He can use any weapon type decently enough, especially javelin type weapons that work well with shields/grotesque zombie trophy items while dealing good damage from a safe distance. My necro wheezed through act 1-2 with mainly two self-replenishing javelin items (yellow) that I alternated between while out in the field. He also looks really cool with a scythe. His Poison Dagger skills are so-so, works okay against swarms of lesser enemies but horrible in a pitched battle.
Poison dagger build can be very effective but its to the person if its their style

If I remember correctly after 20 years, I finished the game many times with the Barbarian, Necromancer and Sorceress. I think I never gave a real try with the Amazon and my Paladin built was so mediocre that I got stuck in Act III (Hell). When the expansion arrived, I had played so much do D2 that I just finished the Last act with my most leveled characters. I barely gave a try with the assassin and Druid.
If I buy Diablo 2 reborn, this time I will start with one of these classes that I relegated before: Druid, assassin, Amazon and Paladin.
the assassin is a lot of fun I found! My build was doing a lot with traps, but also turned out to be a great one-hit killer :) Didn't try the druid though. and have to say I never really got further than nightmare, I dabbled in hell a bit though. So my builds were mostly not by 'the book', but a lot of fun trying things out.

From my brief experience of playing D2 decades ago, I think Paladin is the most OP hero against mobs thanks to the spinning hammer (forgot what it’s called) and Sorceress in PvP thanks to her teleports. Necro always been my favorite though.

when in doubt, necromancer. when in hellmode, necromancer... killing bosses, necromancer... there is only one class, necromancer. that is all you need to know.

Barbarian is always my go to guy. Amazon was very good. Didn't have to chase enemies down. Tried the Druid. Didn't work so well. Same with Necromancer. Paladin I was decent with. Gonna try Sorceress next.
most of you are wrong, you focus one tree in most classes you don't tree split your damage abilities, their is rare item late game that makes amazons replenish thrown over time so its nothing to worry bout just wait till game comes out guys trust :)
besides utility/synergies all builds should only focus in one tree with every class

To me, the best class to start is an Assassin. Trapsin Light build is pretty straightforward, effective and really good gear isn't necessary to survive on hell difficulty. Frankly, it is possible to survive (although it is hard) with absolutely naked character.
The worst classes to start are Paladin and Sorceress since good items for them are very expensive, and you just NEED those items, for your character to make any progress on high diff.
Sorceress is the best class to start lol
Sorc is always your best starting char. Nothing beats teleport for farming. Get to Act 1 Hell, farm the crap out of that until you have the gear you need for what ever other char build you like.
Ah...Diablo II, one of my first online games ever (got it from a friend who didn't like it...he just gave it to me because I asked him how it was!)...love most classes, but my faves are probably (in no particular order - except the first one mentioned!): Sorceress (pure destruction - especially my favourite mix builds (Ice/Fire and Ice/Lightning!)), Necromancer (Summoner FTW!), Amazone (Javazone or Bowie, I like both...Windforce!), Barbarian (Spin to win! Whirlwind!)...played the rest, too by my highest characters were a sorceress in the low 80s and a level 87 Barbarian (Whirlwind! - Only one area where you died often back then...chaos-sanctuary and the damage reflect curse...blergh...hit, hit, hit - dead!)

Im a necro born and bred. Skellymancer with an army of undead obliterating my foes. There are literally two areas in the entire game where he doesnt reign supreme, both in act 2. Maggot lair and arcane sanctum are such narrow passages that you cant bring your army to bear properly. Its the first class I was able to take all the way to end game difficulty and act 5, only being stopped by the three ancients who of course had to be physically immune and completely shut down even my attrition style of defeating that type by being able to leave and come back as they would fully heal if you left the area. There have been so many patches since I last played I have no idea about the viability of any of my old builds anymore.
The druid is obviously the best character. Super strong, summons and lots of big area effect spells..
But I always played either sorcerer or necromancer.
Windy Druid, Tele Barb, Hammerdin, can't wait!!!

Paladin hands down. With auras revised, attack rating logic refactored and new supporting runewords the class is better than ever.

Mainly cuz I like dogs and by extension wolves...
And my current druid build is a wolf pack themed build...
Me as werewolf with wolf summons and ravens for assistance...
And I've heard it's pretty ineffective in the end game, but it's fun so...

Sorceress and Necromancer. Sorc because she is the only female class who is not ugly. And Necromancer because he is neither Batista the Barbarian nor is he boring looking such as the new paladin

You alllwwaays start sorc. Fire/cold hybrid to use leaf early on and use her to get you all the way through hell Anya. Then respec pure blizzard sorc for MF runs to gear all your other end game builds.
Not at all a holy bolt Pali can do pit runs with a insight merc pretty easily

Javazon with the guided arrow is the Best. High damage, survivability, and fast-moving.
Them changing the overall look of the main characters reduces the nostalgia. This is a remaster poeple want to see the old game but in new graphics. It was a very different time in 2000 when it was dropped, and we want to see it for what it was regardsless of todays politics. I hope they simply remaster the old characters and don't go down the path of the rewamp/remake idea of attempting to change the past they are currently on

Not really. Each class might have their own benefits but several are clearly worse than the rest. Pally, sorc, and Amazon are better than the rest in terms of build variety, kill speed, survivability.
