UMV106 - Exactly what happened

- Typically for me things didn't go as expected. Usually if someone says it could be this easy or that hard then it's usually the hard way and it seems like its something i just have to get used to.
I still feel a sense of shock with what happened if i'm honest, what I thought might be a quick check up and some antibiotics was anything but and a 2 and a half week hospital stay happened instead.
Thankfully I'm out now and getting a little better every day - long may that continue.

Pleased that you are out of hospital John has tried to stay strong for you.
So pleased that you are slowly recovering. You may or may not remember that I am a survivor of cancer. I would just like to say I understand some of the problems and difficulties you have gone through but even for me as a total laryngectomy survivor I admire your honesty and would like to tell you there is a good life to look forward to.

As a 20 year survivor of bowel cancer I was particularly lucky to have an excellent (Unfortunately retired GP) who spotted I had a problem early. Stay strong!
Hello Mandy, great to see you out of hospital. Sending prayers. ❤❤❤
How lovely to see you pop up on my screen tonight. Considering what you’ve been (and are still going) through, you’re doing remarkably well Mandy. Be kind to yourself and let nurse John look after you. Make sure you take time to process everything that’s happened. Thank you for sharing your journey, we all feel we’re on it with you. Take care 💕
How. lovely to see your face again. My you are going through the wringer. I do hope you are coping behind the scenes as you appear to be in front of the camera. Stay strong and I look forward to your next update. I know you know it but John is a treasure. x

Septicemia is so dangerous! I am so glad you survived! I feel you will get back to normal sooner than later... that you are a teaching case, all the knowledge is focused on you ... keep your spirit up as much as you can. You will feel better soon, my dear Mandy.
You look better. Your lips are a nice healthy colour compared to a few months ago. Well done on your bravery girl.
You are so brave mandy. I'm coping in a bad way and haven't gone through what you've gone through. I have bad mental health issues and my cancer journey is so scary. But you encourage me to push on. So relieved to see this video of you ❤.
Mandy, you don't ever need to apologise, I think we all agree that we just want you to be fit and well, you have to put yourself first, John's updates kept us up to date on how you were doing and I for one really appreciated that.
It was lovely to see you, but remember to take it carefully. Love to you both. Xx
It's great to see you again Mandy, fingers crossed you're over the worst of it all now...
You take care of yourself,
big hugs,
Steve & Ang ❤
Oh my ! bless you Mandy. Yes Onwards and Upwards my dear 😁 Sending many healing wishes your way and best wishes to John ❤️🙏🏻 xx
Omg Mandy, you don't do things by halves do you! So glad to see this pop up and that you are on the road to recovery. You are looking remarkably good considering what you have been through. Sending very gentle hugs ❤❤❤❤
Christ Mandy, you’ve been through the wringer. I can sympathise with you having had full emergency abdominal surgery and just recently aorta replacement surgery. Ridiculous amount of scars and healing to be done this year. However, what I want you to absolutely do is REST, eat and sleep. You only get to recover from this surgery ONCE….. ( a wise dr told me this) Do not attempt to lift, pull or push anything for months. It will take a long time before you are healed enough and you have to take the time your body needs to recover. Please take care of yourself ❤
Sweet Mandy, so happy to see you! You look good, I know it's slow and frustrating. You have been through hell, please try to take it easy. I missed your face, thank you to John.
So pleased to see you out of hospital and on the long road to recovery Mandy. Breathe in the Cornish sea air it’s very healing. ❤️🩹
Oh how I loved seeing your face pop up! Lovely to see you sat in your van. Sending you lots of love to you and John. Xx

Lovely to 'see' you, Mandy. I'm so glad/relieved you're slowly climbing back up from your awful time. Thank goodness for skilful medics. Thanks for posting - you must have been shattered afterwards.
Seeing all your meds, and the dreaded yellow box, brought back memories of my husband's regime after his stem cell transplant 2 years ago (taste was jiggered, too). Bodies that have been through the mill need time - and good carers like John! Baby steps for now ...
Much love to you both, Laura
Lovely to see you Mandy. Sounds like you’re not out of the woods yet - be patient with yourself and keep your chin up. Thank goodness for John’s care and attention looking after you 🫶🏻
Anyway the only way is up now and every day you’re one day nearer to full recovery 🌻xx

I couldn’t believe seeing your name pop up Mandy. Really glad to see you are making a good if slow recovery which is inevitable given what you have been through. Very unusual for me to listen to people giving their full medical issues without feeling squeamish, so well done there. Take care.
So glad your on the mend. God bless you. Speedy recovery wished for you.
Oh wow Mandy! You’ve been through so much bless you. You are one strong lady and it’s great to see you’ve come through this. Be kind to yourself and rest as much as you need to. I’m sure with time all those meds will disappear. Sending best wishes to you and John. ❤

And about Mandy x you warrior woman ❤
I'm so happy to see you Mandy. If you're still near to Newquay, you could contact Newquay Tourist Information Centre and hire a wheelchair so John could take you out and you wouldn't have to worry about walking. xx
Good to see you out of hospital Mandy. Speedy recovery and take care.
So good to see you on here after missing you when we came down, absolutely awful what you’ve been through Mandy, so glad you’re gradually getting over it and regaining your strength. We could see how great John has been looking after you, love and best wishes to you both. xxx
It's a blessing and a curse to have a high pain threshold. Listen to your body, and trust it as you have been doing. You've got this.
Hugs to you and your doctor who is clearly taking good care of you. You'll be taking trips away from that campsite before you know it. xxx
Hi Mandy, wasn't expecting you to pop up on my screen this morning! Lovely to see and hear that you are out of hospital ! fighting the battle, being positive, Mandys back 🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️
Mandy, you're such a brave, wonderful, and beautiful woman! Thank you for your update, I've been worried about you. Please don't ever apologise. Your health always comes first! Mandy like many others I’ve been looking out for any update and am so relieved to see your wee face. I’m so sorry for everything you’ve gone through it’s been a horrendous time and you are a bloody wee warrior. Hi Mandy I have been following you since your initial diagnosis but never commented until John posted about your latest battle and wow you are a brave strong and courageous woman I hope you know this it might not feel like it at the moment but you will conquer this too I am in awe of your determination to overcome all the obstacles you have encountered take your time slowly but surely you will get there the mountain may be a bitch to climb but the view from the top will be incredible much love and best wishes to you and your wonderful husband keep well and keep going xx
It's lovely to see you back Mandy and looking so smiley. :)
Take care, rest and recover-no overdoing it x
Thank you for the update Mandy. ❤ Take it slow and easy! Rest, rest, rest! Don’t get discouraged. This sort of thing always reminds me of a rhyme my kids learned in school (years ago).
Little by little, inch by inch,
By the yard it’s hard, by the inch it’s a cinch.
Never stare up the stairs, just step up the steps.
Little by little, inch by inch!
Oh gosh Mandy, it was so lovely to see your video and to hear you are out of hospital! What an ordeal! You are so brave and strong to have come through that and still be able to produce a video to update us all! I am so happy to see you out of hospital. I ended up in ITU just before my breast cancer treatment ended. It was a horrific scary time. 7 years on I realised it left me with PTSD which I should have seeked help with. Watching your video has made me realise I need that help now as it took me back to that time. Please both look after yourselves mentally as well as physically. You are both doing amazingly ❤
Please take care of yourself. You need to heal and rest. Mandy. John take care until next time. Take it slow 🧡🧡
Be well, recover gently. x
