Just caught your driving video around town, Chad. My first car was a '62 Galaxie w/ a wimpy 223. This is the one I used to dream of when I was a kiddo. Don't change a thing and keep it for the rest of your days.
I love it when young people can appreciate vintage style. Also when older people can appreciate modern style. That car is 1 year younger than me and I would kill to drive it around the block. Nice job there man
That's a really nice black car you got I would love to drive that car everyday it's sweet I love it and tell Jolene thank you from all of us for going through all that work on the computer👍🏻👍🏻💯💪🏼🙏
Fantastic car. Dad had a 62 with a 352, then a 63.5 fastback with the hot 390 and Borg Warner 4 speed. He traded it in on a 66 WAGON when I was born! 🙄😕
Nice ride you have there, Chad. Reminds me of a older friend of mine back in the sixties that had a '66 Bel Air - or Biscayne, I don't remember, but not an Impala - with a 427 big block with bench seats and a 4 speed, also with "dog dish" wheelcaps. He took the fender wide flag "stickers" off of the fenders (that proudly proclaimed what it had under the hood) so it wouldn't give away the fact the he had a big block and therefore blow his cover. Talk about a sleeper. Remember, the mid and later sixties was the "muscle car" era. (Seems every young guy wanted one.) Then he would challenge different (comparable) people to a street race, then blow their doors off!
Wow, that thing is in amazing condition, what a great car. The 406 didnt come out till part was through the 62 model year so that 375 hp 390 was the top 1962 combination earlier .
The 375 hp 390 was a single 4 barrel Q code, If this is a genuine tri power 390? that would make it a very rare M code 401 hp. P.S i hope he didn't dislocate his arm when pointing at the car.
That 401hp 390 was something else. Wish Ford had kept the heads the same going forward with the 390. I know racing focus turned to the 406 and then the 427, but improved heads and some nice factory installed performance packages would’ve made street cars better
Dad had a '64 with a 390. I always thought that '62 was very cleanly styled. I never could figure out why the valve covers would say "Thunderbird" on an engine in a Galaxie. Great video!
They have done that since the late fifties at least because my grand dad had a '57 STATION WAGON with a "Thunderbird" engine. I didn't believe him until he wiped the built-up grease off the rocker covers, and there it was: The covers had Thunderbird DECALS on them instead of being die cast into the metal of the covers. I don't remember the design. It was probably to signify that only T-Bird had that engine and passenger production was limited to special order. It was probably a 312 V8. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Yep! that was the year I started working on Fords and Yep, the 312 would have the Thunderbird Logo. That year the Super charged 312 TBirds were terrorizing the Race tracks.@@daleandrews3552
That is a pretty cool sleeper. I wonder if that 390 Tri Power engine came from a 61 Starliner. I know the Tri Power 406/405 horsepower was the top Ford engine in 62. The 61 Starliner 390 Tri Power and the 63 1/2 Galaxie R-Code 427 are my favorites of the big Ford's of the 60's. I like the 64-67 Galaxie 427's alot too.
Looks really correct as I had the fancier Galaxie 500 with the 406 tri power setup. that came after this 390 hi po . Your car has the correct fuel filter that indicates maybe this car was born this way ? Most built up versions do not have or can not find these ! The 390 hi po cars ran very strong. They had them also in 1961. Had a couple friends who ran them and handled many a big block Chevies etc.
well we don’t know that is a rare 401 engine carry over. Looks like it could be with those exh manifolds. This guy didn’t seem to know much about the engine. Im not sure if the 406’s were available in the Fall of ‘61 or early ‘62 though. If 406’s were not available at build time, I can see the hi po 390 as possible in this ‘62
@@kimmorrison9169 The 401 horse 390 tri-power did get carried over from late '61 into the first part of '62. I've seen few '62s with solid lifter 390s. The 406 did get started shortly after the carry over. And there are more '62 with 406s. I studied the history of it years ago. And the following year, '63, the 427 didn't get started until almost mid-year, so there's been a fairly good number of '63's with 406s, even with the new slant back roof line for that year.
@@kimmorrison9169 I was pretty much just saying that there was also a carry over this year as well as '63. Sorry if I appeared a little rude or arrogant.
I got a '56 Fairlane club, with an FE 360, with stock gears, and a 3.03 tranny. I got a 390 from a '70 LTD, also with an '83 9" out of an F150. I soon to shorten the axle and swap to the 390. Not sure the ratio offhand considering it is 2000 miles away in phx.

Damm fine Ford Chad. I was only 2 yrs old when that baby rolled off the line at Ford. A true sleeper with style.
Sweet car. I love when someone does old cars up like that

Congrats man, that is a beauty!
I appreciate your youth and passion friend. Good job.
That does look great! Very clean and not an over done show queen. It's the right colour even. Great score.

The 62 Fords were one of my favorites.

Sick ride Chad. Greetz from The Netherlands🤘🏼
That's a great 60s "pre" muscle car! Lookin' for a 409 Chevy to race. Very nice. Knew a couple people with 390 station wagons back in the day.
Chad, that's a real nice find bro!
That’s one clean ride you don’t see many like that
This is a real cool beast. Wish I had the funds to purchase the machine. Killer car Chad.
Yes - indeedy - That is one sick but a slick sleeper. MINT!
A really sweet ride! I hope that you will take us for a ride soon!

Sweeeet Ride Chad !!!! Good to see ya again !!!

@@rickczopek5503 Correct ! I had one of the first 406 G-code cars in Delaware ! Great car
Really? My uncle had a 1960 with a 406. Must have been put in there.
The 406 came with the Tri Power. My dad had a 1968 Gt Fastback Mustang stock 390 block but it had s set of 406 heads and the 406 Holley six pack.

Chad that thing is awesome! Can't beat a good ol' FoMoCo sleeper!
Very nice 62
The only thing that i would change on that car would be the registration, from your name to mine. It is a beauty for sure !
Looks like a good solid clean car..I had a 65.

Chad keep these videos coming.
I'm looking for a nice rust-free one like this
I agree with you - change nothing because this is built right. Good score.... and cool Schlitz T-shirt!
Nice ,I've always liked Fords ,Galaxie's and I like long quarter panels.
Am I the only one who breathed a sigh of relief at the end?
BEAUTIFUL
Dude that car is badass! Big block 4 speed post car so sick. Maybe a tear drop hood scoop?
Coming from Georgia, I'll bet it's an homage to a moonshine runner.
Im excited too see the Bugatti finished ;0) Nice 62 Ford Man.
Nice ride.
Nice car!! Great Buy!!
Liked the way it sounded with 1st ride, shifted with some strength...!
Wicked looking car.

Outstanding '62, I notice a safety sticker from Georgia, possibly a revenuers car??, 👍🏁🇺🇸'merica

Looks like it's the Solid Lifter 390 Tri-power rated at 401 horsepower carried over from late '61.

Preserve cars like that. Not everything has to be a show car.

that car was top off the line back then
Tire shredding monster
very nice car
Chads just a cool canadian dude
I was the one that sent Chad the sheets he is currently using for his pattern making
Thank you Gary. They are coming in real handy
