We are so blessed to witness this divine performance
Thankyou Radhika for your live attendance and comment
Just saw the concert of maami. As always, relaxed, unfiltered authentic carnatic music. It really brings peace listening to maami's carnatic concert. The authenticity yet simplicity with which each raaga was presented really holds the attention and removes the anxiety in the audience about the performance. Most of the artist get so much into theatrics that we the audience end up anxiety about what is going to come next. That is never the case with sujatha maami. It's the original carnatic that carnatic was always supposed to be. Thank you so much maami for the wonderful and divine concert.
Thankyou so much Kaushik and Ashwini

REVATHI - JANYA OF MELA (2) RAGAM RATNANGI
Ragam Revathi is another very popular, but rare raga - there are a huge number of compositions (about 90) available, still only some of them are heard sung. Some compositions have been popularized by some musicians; but generally, there are not many popular krithis in this raga. It is the same reason, why it is again grouped under Rare Ragas.
The raga is an oudava janyam of mela (2) Ratnangi; losing G1 and D1 in both directions. The ragaswaroopam can be found as :
S R1 M1 P N2 S // S N2 P M1 R1 S
Ragapravaham by D.Pattammal places it under Ratnangi and Vakulabharam (melas 2 & 14) as:
S R M P N S // S N P M R S (mela 2)
S R M P N S // S N P M G R S (mela 14)
The steep fall from M1 to R1 gives a very special beauty and flavor to this raga; again the N2 with the stand alone oscillations add very special colour to the raga. Due to these special features, the raga is not much seen applied in film songs; but finds vast application in devotional songs.
The karuna and bhakthi rasas that this raga evokes is beautiful, and it is to be noted that many of the Vedic verses and slokas are chanted in Revathi. The Hindusthani raga that closely resembles Revathi would be Bairagi Bhairav.
It can be seen that a change in R1 to R2 makes a considerable difference and it becomes the mangala raga, Madhyamavathi, which is also very popular. Though Revathi is considered a janya of Ratnangi mela, it can be obtained from other mela ragas like (4) Vanaspathi, (8) Thodi, (10) Natakapriya, (14) Vakulabharanam and (16) Chakravakam - since the Gandharam and Dhaivatham are absent.
Thanks so much for letting us enjoy your tribute to the great Mysuru Vasudevacharya!
We are blessed 🙏
Thankyou so much Aparna .Very kind of you

The Bho Shambho Mantra is an intense chant dedicated to the Supreme Protector of the Universe, Lord Shiva.
This simple chant can give power to any intention that the chanter or the listener holds.
The mantra increases one's ability to focus, manifest, and completely cut away from the distractions in the external surroundings.
Through this chant, we channel into the meditative powers of Lord Shiva, who dispelled obstacles and darkness with divine ease.
Let everyone be happy Let everyone be without disease Let everyone bear witness to good events Let no-one have a share of sadness Om Peace, Peace, Peace!!

Senjurutti
The Raga known as as Chenchurutti, Shenjurutti etc. It is a janya raga, derived from Raga Harikambhoji 28th Mela
Aro : D2 S R2 G3 M1 P D2 N2 Av : N2 D2 P M1 G3 R2 S N2 D2 P D2 S
This raga derived from folk music and has a pleading note to it. An example of traditional folk music is the delightful Kavadi Chindu Valli Kanavan PeRai set to this raga.
Tyagaraja has composed Rama Rama Rama RaRa and Navaneeta Chora in this raga. Oothukadu Venkata Subbaiyer’s Pullay Piravi and Maadu Meikum Kanna are popular.
As generally percived Hindustani Jhinjoti is nowhere close to Senchuriti . In that respect, it is more like yadhukula kambhoji , which shines well in vilamba kala
In this verse, Thiru Manikkavasagar passionately describes the method of holy dip to the young maidens assembled in the early hours of dawn to worship the Supreme Lord Shiva; with the jingling noise of ear stud, clattering noise of the jewels worn on their bodies, dancing of hair locks and the flowers decked on it surrounded by the deafening noise of honey bees. Thiru Manikkavasagar advises the young maidens to sing praising the glories of Thiruchitrambalam/Chidambaram who is the embodiment of Veda & Vedanga. Thiru Manikkavasagar instructs them to sing enthusiastically about the blazing fire form of Lord as Lingodbhavar, and the garland of Kondrai flowers adorned on his body, supreme Lord who has no beginning or end and earnestly prays to provide salvation from the repeated birth and death.
Next will be a Special Krithi !!!

Hamsadhwani :- Aro: S R2 G3 P N3 S Av: S N3 P G3 R2 S It is a Janya rāga of 29th Mela Sharnakarabharanam but according to Hamsadhvani's prayoga or the way it is sung it is said to be the janya of Kalyani (65th).
The Hamsadhwani scale has the same notes as a major scale, except that the 4th and 6th notes in the major scale are not used when playing Hamsadhwani.
A raga that is bright and auspicious, one that is most suited for commencing a Carnatic concert. That probably explains why kritis in Lord Ganesha abound in this raga.
This raga is well-loved and easily identified due to its distinctive charm that gets better when sung in Madhyamakala (medium-fast tempo).
Hamsadhwani is a pentatonic scale ( audava raga) and the notes it houses include Sadja, Chatusruti Rishabha, Antara Gandhara, Pancama and Kakali Nishada. Hamsadhwani has its roots in the Carnatic form, and is said to have been created by Ramaswamy Dikshitar, father of Muthuswamy Dikshitar.
The credit in taking this raga into the Hindustani system of music goes to Ustad Aman Ali Khan of the Bhendibazaar gharana. In its Hindustani form, the Kaisiki Nishada also appears sometimes lending texture and finer hues to the solid fabric of the raga.
Playing mridangam for veena needs lot of control on nadais, volume, no cross beats & flow with song with anticipation.
Overall it has been satisfactory concert.
With exuberant blue and red lotus abound.
With king fishers making lot of sound,
With people coming to wash away their dirt and sin,
The pond appears as a place of our Lord and our Goddess.
Let our bangles of conch and our anklets divine,
Join this din, And let us all,
Bathe with our busts raising,
And the water level going up,
Is it not our lady.

2. God is existent, intelligent and blissful. He is formless, omniscient, just, merciful, unborn, endless, unchangeable, beginning-less, unequalled, the support of all, the master of all, omnipresent, immanent, un-aging, immortal, fearless, eternal and holy, and the maker of all. He alone is worthy of being worshiped.
