    I just want to say that this modification is legendary. What a great way to go full pneumatic while using factory parts.
    I am planning on doing this when I make my son's F-150 Power Wheels into 4WD!

      Can the f150 wheels be opened like the hurricane ?

    • @ddeblaz1446
      @ddeblaz1446 Před 2 lety

      @@charlesrg the raptor can. Not sure of the others. I just did this to my son's raptor. Only difference was the raptor had 3 screws holding the wheels together instead of 6 BUT they had the provisions for 6 you just have to drill 3 holes

    • @charlesrg
      @charlesrg Před 2 lety

      @@ddeblaz1446 Yep. I've order some jeep hurricane wheels, and the new ones are 3 screws only.
      The Dune Racer issue is not the screw, but the size of the rim. It's too large for a 6 Inch and too small for a 8. So a 7 inch tire with that width is really hard to come about.

  • @ddeblaz1446
    @ddeblaz1446 Před 2 lety +3

    Just wanted to say thanks for this video. You are the ONLY person that was nice enough to give all the information on this. I just did this on my son's f150 raptor and I can confirm it's almost exactly the same. The only difference is on the raptor it only has 3 screws holding the wheels together instead of 6 however the outer rim has provisions for all 6 still in the casting so you just have to drill the inner rim to run the extra 3 screws and then the rest is the same.

    I know this is an old thread, but I am doing this for my son. I got 16*6.50-8 tires with the same inner tubes. Did anyone use 16*6.50-8 inner tubes? or did everyone use the 4.80-8 like in the video?
    If I used 16*6.50-8 instead will that cause a major issue?

    yes it is addictive. I have three kids and another on the way. but I have built 2 custom trailers. we have 2 jeep wrangles. 1 hurricane. 1 extreme machine dune buggy. 1 Ford monster truck (old style). 1 24volt Polaris ATV with working suspension. and I have had like 6 other ones that I either parted out or sold.

    Hi, finally decided to upgrade the tires on my child’s hurricane, after I modified and mounted all of the wheels I noticed the keep is considerably slower than the plastic wheels, this is even with running a 18v battery. Are you running a larger power source, like a 24v? Thanks!

    Hi Art,
    I've already did the 24v conversion on my 4 yrs old son's jeep hurricane. I've installed an ecm along with a variable speed pedal (slight modifications to where the old pedal was), headlights and taillights along with a red under dash led lights. After burning up the motor's, I purchased some peg perego 24v motors and installed it by making some modifications to motors without affecting either the housing or motor. It seems to be working perfectly but it's missing something. So I am now getting ready to do a tire swap similar to what you did, just wanted to know if you could share the exact tire size you used. Thank you,

  • @buckyflex1

    • @artklobucar1606
      @artklobucar1606  Před 3 lety

    • @artklobucar1606
      @artklobucar1606  Před 7 lety

      Gears were doing fine. My 13 year old probable put about 2 miles on it and no problems. I put about 10 psi in the front and my 7 year old had no problems steering it. I am in the process right now of painting, light install as well as converting to 24 volts using a electronic scooter control. That will be the next video so we will see how the jeep does!

      I have twin 4 year olds and a three year old who all pull trailers with their jeeps. I just got a hurricane for free cuz they didn't know what was wrong with it but they had snapped the drive gear

    • @artklobucar1606
      @artklobucar1606  Před 7 lety

      I just purchased 2 steel gears from ML toys. When doing the upgrade to 24volts I didn't want to take any chances with the stock gear. Very easy to install! I have had way to much weight on mine in the past. When I dissassembled I found out my rear axle was bent. I upgrade to a slightly heavier one from Home depot. I was surprised to hear that the gears could be weak since I never had problems

    Hi I just got that same pink sheep that you have at the end of the video for my daughter the tires are completely busted before I run out and go order the plastic tires and do the rubber Traction Tire around the plastic one I thought I could just save some money by just getting her some rubber tires and actually having them inflated install them on the car it's cheaper to as of now to buy four new tires for her would be around 60 bucks those are the stock tires or I found some used 8 and 1/2 inch about the same size golf tires that have the rims on them and inner tubes already inside them is there a way that you could recommend me to install them using the same Metal rims would that put too much pressure on the axle or should I switch out the metal rims with the plastic rims

      The wheels on the small pink Jeep do not come apart like the hurricane Wheels unfortunately, the least expensive way would probably be to find a set of hurricane Wheels and do what I did otherwise you'll have to find hubs steel wheels and modify the axles
