Awesome job. I am training for a 100 mile ultra in August. This helps keep me motivated cuz we do hit rough patches during training and in the race but got to keep push.

@@CotswoldTrailRunner In August I will be doing in the Westfield Ultramarathon in New Jersey. It’s a 24hr race. Last year I attempted it and was on great pace to complete it in under 24hrs but ended up with an injury and at 80 miles I had to drop out and got my first DNF. It was my first ever ultra. I never did anything over 12 miles before trying it. But I felt a calling to do it plus i love stepping out the box to challenges. From then ultras have just been on my mind. So this year I will sign up for the same race and redeem myself. To not finish was the worse feeling ever. I never stepped in a race and didn’t finish so this was a learning experience. This time I will be prepared.
Brilliant running and congratulations on your gold buckle. Your video gave a great account of all your highs and lows of your race and also the hard work that your crew member also puts in. Beautiful views which I’m sure would make it that much more enjoyable (except for the night running) enjoy your recovery 😊
Congrats on gritting it out and coming through the other side! This is a race that takes all of your heart and then takes hold of it. I finished last year and DNF’d this year (due to an infected thorn prick of all things!). Even my wife and family who crewed want to return to do it all again next year such is the weekend experience. I think a debrief will be invaluable for anyone thinking of taking this on in future. You have captured the event perfectly with this film 👌
Unlucky this year! You're right though, it's such a great community event! My brother crewing even enjoyed the camaraderie amongst crews and runners. I'm planning a debrief video and mini series on 'Preparing to Perform' so keep an eye out for that soon!
Great achievement - it is a tough course. Great filming too, it gives a good idea as to what the course is like on a good weather year - Cornwall is beautiful. Come back and have another go when the hail is coming sideways at you at 50mph. You will enjoy that too!
Absolutely outstanding Francois. Great to meet you in the hotel. Unfortunately my race ended quickly with a migraine and sickness after Lizard and I timed out at CP1. Really upset as I always carry my migraine medication and somehow it wasn't in my bag. It was so warm at Coverack compared to HQ, that I changed some clothes and reckon it must have flicked out out of my bag :( You absolutely nailed it and I was glad to see you finish on the livestream. (I was back in Winchester by then!)

How did you find the Arc vs LL100? I finished LL100 in this year and entered into the Arc, trying to get an idea timings if I can race with a similar level of fitness.
Hey! Thanks for watching. I think I found the LL100 tougher. The climbs were longer compared to the shorter steeper climbs on the Arc. I did LL100 in 31.5hrs vs Arc 26.5hrs. For the Arc I focussed training on fuelling and pushing the first 25miles so I could get ahead. I’m entered for the Arc 2025 and going for sub 24hrs. I need to get to Lands End in decent shape and avoid nausea/stomach issues this time. Best of luck!
