- Carol Hasse has logged over 45,000 miles at sea!
And her sailmaking is legendary among serious blue water cruisers.
So Carol is a master at outfitting and rigging boats.
See how Carol outfits her own Folkboat, stem-to-stern.
This video is chock-full of great tips and ideas. Enjoy!
With all the crazies you see today, how refreshing to see and hear a Lady so grounded and confident and also humble and gracious. How wonderful to sit and just have a conversation with her.
"A gift beyond imagining." I love that.
I clicked the video because the boat looked nice. I didn't expect the speaker to be so enthralling! I could listen to her all day. I want Carol Hasse to teach me about life. Her children are so lucky to have such a knowledgeable guide.
This video is a gift, 1 in 1,000. Carol Hasse's vast knowledge and authority is exceeded only by her humility and grace. Thank-you.
I return to this video every few months to be encouraged by such a balanced spirit. Carol, and her Folkboat, are incredible examples of creation. This always reminds me that good design precludes good action, but it all starts with a thoughtful design. Blessings!
What a lovely talented woman!
And she plays her own intro as well !!! Great !!!
Ann Gash , in 1975 , sailed her folkboat from pittwater north of sydney right around the world .She returned to pittwater in 1977 . Ann Gash was an amazing woman and to sail a little folkboat right around the globe is an amazing testament to what a fabulous little vessel the folkboat is
Although clearly possessing vast sailing knowledge, you exude a casual humility that is refreshing. Thanks for the video!
I exuded this morning.
I feel great.
What an incredibly cool lady. , she gives you the reminder that you shouldn't let the days playing with the boat get by you. Thank you for posting that.
Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! Lady. Boat. Video. BRAVO! Three thumbs up.
The sailing romantic in me just gushed over this wonderful glimpse into the life of a master sailor in a beautiful boat.
I imagine I could listen to you the whole day. With humility and calmness, the love of your life speaks so very clear. True happiness shining through.
If I ever sell my current sailboat. I'm going to get a folkboat love the way they look ♥️♥️
good choice
Carol Hasse is a league of her own such beautiful love of sailing and a true Captain with such class and elegance would love to see her on a channel of her own with her sailing adventures to all the Sailors Captains Skippers and Crew may your journey and adventures be wonderful fun with fair winds with following seas.
I really admire this person and their vision.
This woman's boat looks like a museum piece
Beautiful Boat Thanks for the tour
that "cold beer locker" i salute you captain. love your boat and all the brass work>
Carol Hasse built sails for two of my 7 boats over the years. They were beautiful! One was an all blue Drifter for my 4th sailboat an Ed Monk cutter, AURORA. Sailed her to Chatterbox Falls with my daughter for her high school graduation. My third boat was a "Frisco Flyer" the Hong Kong copy of the Folk Boat named STORM TREE. The moment I sold her, knew I would regret it the rest of my life.
It’s no wonder at all that she feels comfortable in her boat; forty two years after all. A lot of thought has gone into the kit here.
Well kitted out.Lovely lady.
I’ve watched a lot of sailing videos in the last couple of months and this is easily the best use of time! So useful, informative and pleasurable to watch 😌
Beautiful folkboat. I've recently began studying these boats. Kind of a minimalist. I think I can live on one. I like them because they are heavy duty. Can stand up to alot and bluewater.
Nice to see Carol keeps the boat so nicely maintained. M Dad had a Danish Folkboat when I was young. I really hate clinker hulls, but it was a fantastic sailing boat.
What a wonderful share. Thank You.
Lovely. Both the boat and the owner!
This lady is cool as frigg!
Carol is truly one of the nicest people I know and "Lorraine" is lovely beyond description. I think Carol's boat reflects her as a person, which is to say, beautiful. Nice video.
squared away boat....truly admirable. thank you
This was a great story! I love it!
Great video , beautiful boat and an inspiring woman! Fair seas to her!
What a great pleasure, and feeling of peace, to have, among us, you, a real treasure…may you sail, and sail for long to spread great feelings as you sail along…
I love this dedication, magic boat!!!!
The folkboat is definitely a beautiful boat, lovely sheer line, love the lapstrake hull, in all a beautifully proportioned boat all round

This is the kind of video/interview I want to make when I grow up. Great job!
Cool !
That was an amazing story. Very well done
What a sweet, sweet video! Many thanks!
Haven’t been blue water sailing in 23 years. Makes me wanna go!
What a beautiful video. Carol’s words about her boat at the end of the video just about encapsulated everything about the beauty of wooden boats and our great privilege in the western world. I hope we can all enjoy it and not take it for granted x and pass this onto our children.
Best sails you can buy, period!! Best of all, all the people working there are first class human beings. Great service, great people 🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️
Both the boat and its captain have personality. Thanks for the video

yes folkboat what a great boat..had one back in the 70 s...lapstrak hull, nice cockpit and cabin.. did a lot of work on mine..have been a boat for over 45 years..when i started building boats they were wood,no fiberglas yet..did a lot of one offs..lofting new boats and plug building, for the fiberglas molds..going to work was never a job.. i really miss building the wooden boats though..
really enjoyed the vid
Carol has a delightful voice and way of speaking. Loraine is beautiful yacht.

Inspiring interview,, Skipper, and boat. Thank you.
Wonderful boat, wonderful interview.
... great video, wonderful personality Carl has.... a real salty sailor blood going through her venes.. I am sailing since the 70th... and in Europe we know Folke Boats very well.... amazing , safe and sportive boats till today (even exist in epoxy for those who fear lots of wood work). Keep up your good video and interview work ! :-)
Started with a Van De Stadt Pandora 22', now a old Victoria 34. Great Vid.
I absolutely love your video. It makes me long for the Northwest.
Beautiful wooden classic boat design, thanks for sharing 👍greetings from the garden island 🏝of Kauai

Great to find this video...I have KC36 on Lake Huron and need to sail her a lot more than I do.
Ik ben ook verliefd,ja zo'n zweedse schone blijven mooie boten .❤
Great.
Once in a while I fell sorry to see my cultural heritage "exported".
Not this time. You are doing a splendid job at maintaining this simple and well thought out boat, while at the same time making it your own. I hope you'll both sail on forever.
Salty greetings from a fellow sailor in Denmark :-)
What a lovely woman, take my hat off to you . Ipswich uk 👍👍

absolutely amazing woman
Fabulous boat fabulous lady
WHAT A CUTE GIRL, AND SMART, GREAT VIDEO.
so, would you say .. what a cute boy ? How bout some respect,CH is a woman
act your age and not your shoe size, PS. INVEST IN A BAR OF SOAP, LOOKS LIKE YOU COULD USE A BATH.
Love the compact cabin with a wood stove no less
You want to have a big stack of logs on deck, it ain't a narrow boat. Oh! You would tow them in the dingy? Why didn't I think of that. Love that wood stove idea now.
@@williamavery9185 Just carry a collapsible saw in the PNW. There's more wood than you can shake a stick at, and the shore's never far away.
Very cool
Transatlantic! Nutters
❤️
You're right in my neighborhood.
If she ever sells I'd be interested. I'm in Washington too.
Nice boat and video❤ I wonder where can I find the measurements for the stern oar. Somebody can help?
Nice jewel👌, who the hell put these bottles in my bilge 🤗😉
I hope i look and work so well at 60. Shes a smasher.
The head its awood bucket haha
Wow
She is selling me on that part of the world.
Does anyone know where I can buy hinges for a forehatch on a Marimar folk boat..circa 80's I think?
Respect
.....you may have just re-instilled my faith in humanity.......quality human beings seem to be a rare thing these days...
"Who' of thunk" I was in her thrall from that point on I love to sail And I grew up in the UK with the Folkboat one step down from a full Viking Longboat in everyone's ideal or as a day sailer a Flying Dutchman I know one of my youngest Gran-daughters has bought a walkman So maybe we can convince the young to return to feeling the waves through wood not plastic
