I really loved watching the stream where you were flying around looking for bridges to put on the list. I'd totally watch those if you did more
Ohhh lmao I was so confused. I was like I definitely saw a Crendor top 10 bridges. But I was watching the streeeammm.
Agreed!
I am VERY glad you covered the Thandol Span, but, as a Dwarf main since Vanilla, and in order to promote tourism to Khaz Modan, I feel obligated to shed some further light on this marvel of engineering that, hopefully, can be repaired (along with the Dam, it's been years now, come on...) in the near future.
As you are a fan of nostalgia, I'm sure you'll remember that, in the past, an attunement was needed to access Blacrock Depths, specifically, you had to die (conveniently throwing yourself into the lava in Blackrock Mountain) and come back as a ghost to the tomb of Franclorn Forgewright, the greatest architect of the Dwarves, whose spirit you would meet standing atop his tomb.
To grant you access to BRD, he asks you to kill his usurper, Fineous Darkvire, and recover his hammer, called Ironfel, which he askes you to take to his statue in order to complete it.
When you do so, you are granted the Shadowforge Key, that allows you access to the rest of BRD.
If you read through his story, you learn that Franclorn can be credited with a few important things in WoW, the main one being his stonewrought method of masonry, that allowed the Dwarves to build some of their greatest works.
Two of them are found in Loch Modan, the iconic Stonewrought Dam and the albeit smaller but equally impressive Stonewrought Pass tunnel, that used to allow trade between the three Dwarven clans in the past by connecting Loch Modan to Searing Gorge.
Another is the Thandol Span, which you covered in this clip, and the last is Shadowforge City itself, the capital of the Dark Irons before they were overrun by Ragnaros, and the seat of Emperor Dagran Thaurissan. Dagran also holds the other important item, made by Franclorn, namely the hammer Ironfoe, a weapon with a significant proc back in the day that could allow you two extra swings.
In fact, Franclorn's legacy is what still allows players to, technically, walk uninterrupted (mob attacks notwithstanding) from Lordaeron all the way to Ironforge or Stormwind (the Deeprun Tram was only constructed by the Gnomes much later), by way of the Span, the Pass and Blackrock Mountain which, beyond serving as an instance, also links Searing Gorge to the Burning Steppes. You can imagine, in better times, that this allowed all of the Human and Dwarven Kingdoms to trade peacefully with one another.
Anyway, thank you, as usual, for taking the time to put these together, and stay healthy and happy, no matter what times may come!
Please learn how to use a comma.
Very nice post. I love old-school WoW lore
another thing that makes it even cooler is that the Franclorn character is a reference to Frank Loyd Wright wich is renowned as the greatest American architect of all time. and one of the greatest in the world.
@@Infernal_Elf Indeed, that he is good Sir.
There was a spot on the Dam where we could death jump off into the swamp side, slide down a water spout, die, and somehow end up in the Menethil graveyard. It was our alt short-cut to get to past spiders and crocs the docks LOL
Highmountain bridges actually are my most vivid memory of Legion. Had the most epic setup to be seared into my brain forever. Running up the mountain at night, across the bridges, music swelling, the moon in the sky directly above me as I ascended to the top. And then looking around from the peak. Very cool moment in WoW history for me.
This is quickly becoming my favorite CZcams series.
Always has been 🗣️
You mean the series that have been going on for 10 years at this point?
@@astrealove2247 What does that have to do with what I said? No need to be caught up in your emotions my guy, we are just enjoying some CZcams content.
crendor you bridge the gap in my heart with these vids
Though cute, but...
no NO! BAD vickietee!
;p
i definitely remember the experience of someone showing me you had to walk on the blackrock mountain chains. felt like i was being let in on a secret, finding all that stuff in the middle island
Seeing that one Axe throw at the end make the bridge reminded me of the Atlantis scene "Hey look I made a bridge, and it only took me 10 seconds, 11 tops."
Was expecting the Halls of Valor bridge that turns you into a ball of light
That was on my list of maybes but just missed making it
okay but Lakeshire bridge had such character development from being incomplete in classic to completed in cata (and then the guy who built it got pinned under a bigass rock its a whole thing)
I think one of the most iconic bridges in WoW, in my experience, is the Sulfuran Span in Firelands, just because I needed to sit through the bridge being created every time I used to do a mount run for Ragnaros.
The chain bridges in Blackrock Mountain also reminded me of the chain bridges you'd sometimes run into in Torghast, the ones where if you touched them in the wrong way, you'd bounce right off the bridge. They were so annoying, that Blizzard made a power you could buy where you could bypass those bridges all together through a teleport.
CZcams randomly recommended me to watch Pointless Top 10: Zone Transitions in World of Warcraft, a video Crendor made 4 years ago
And number 7 has the log bridge of Dread Wastes, which is also number 3 on this new pointless 10 top bridges
Which means that Crendor has been doing these pointless list for long enough that he himself forgets the things he has covered, not to the point of just forgetting, to the point of him claiming he didn't even knew the things he has already covered before existed
Every now and then you hit a topic that just resonates with me. This made me go "oh heck yes, wow has some really good bridges!" xD
God, Blackrock Mountain is so cool. The atmosphere of that entire place is still unparalleled, and that's not just nostalgia speaking, I started playing shortly before TBC and didn't even see most of the instances in BRM before Wrath. But the way that it feels like a *real place* where *things are actually happening* and there's meaningful history and everything just hasn't been captured since, imo. Blackrock Depths is still my favorite non-raid dungeon. I think the fact that it feels like a city first and a dungeon second is what makes it.
Crendor is the only creator to admit all content on CZcams is pointless 😂
My favourite pointless bridge is the random bridge in west Feralas, there is a nice waterfall next to it and you have a very nice view of the Feralas shore.
Gotta do a part 2. The swamp of sorrows Bridge. Or the one that connects Westfall and duskwood. And the Feralas bridge
The swamp of sorrows bridge is Great. Only Chinese construction in Vanilla ages before Mists of Pandaria. And it also has a quest related to it.
The molten core bridge that only triggers after defeating all mainland bosses, and connects to Ragnaros's palace to end the raid is great. Also it has a cinematic of it being conjured and the view of the fire cultists just after crossing it is really imposing.
You mean the Firelands in Cataclysm, not Molten Core from Vanilla.
blackrock mountain is one of the coolest areas in any video game. Whenever i think of vanilla wow its one of the first things that comes to mind.
Surprised Serpentshrine Cavern bridge wasn't here, the mechanism was so cool
I remember during Cataclysm, in the Firelands raid, my friends and I would joke about the bridge after Balreroc. You had to interact with an orb to make it spawn and it plays a cutscene of the bridge forming out of the lava. I'm so sure that the cutscene use to be unskippable (it is skippable now) because we would joke that somebody spent so much time on that bridge rising animation and by god are they going to make sure people see it!
And if you skip the cutscene, the bridge isn't fully formed yet, and you fall right through it.
Absolutely love that you're still making videos. So many of my favorite WoW CZcams creators have quit making stuff, but you're still going strong. And good videos at that. I've been sick for a few days now and this helped me feel a bit better.
How do you miss the Westfall-Duskwood bridge. It’s so nostalgic and like a little story!
as a Horde main, I don't really have much nostalgia with that bridge. It'd probably make a top 15 list though
@@crendor similar nostalgic bridge for horde would probably be the bridge that connects Durotar with The Barens. :)
There's also that bridge in Redridge that was infamously in-progress for like 3 expansions, finished in Cataclysm, then there's incidents where everybody's like "NO, DON'T DROP THAT THERE, WE JUST FINISHED THAT BRIDGE!"
Definitely need a part two to this video. The people demand ten more bridges!
“What am I gonna watch in bed tonight?”
“Oh hell ya new pointless top 10. The perfect pointless end to another pointless day.”
number 5 is exactly why i love reading quests bc it adds SO much to leveling up, i remember loads of quests that just had an epic story, and if i did it without reading it would have been really boring
i think a top 10 towns & villages would be amazing - love the lists!
To me all of the bridges in old thousand needles will always be number one.
I just love that zone so much.
Isn't there a log bridge at the top of zangramasrh going to the little island, BC expansion
Mushroom stem yeah.
Pretty good list.... totally forgot about Kologarn, he is def the most unique bridge for being a giant boss who topples over into a bridge once he's dead. Also, glad u mentioned the AV alliance bridge. Its a pretty famous "chokepoint" in AV that anyone who has done some PVP will know very well.... many people say that bridge is the reason why alliance would win more then horde in AV.... who knows, but still some cool battles and defense that occured on that bridge.
Glad to see some love for Thunder Bluff, my first ever capital city in WoW
Loved to see Highmountain bridges up the high mountain made it!
Thunderbluff is the smartest designed capital, so easy to defend :D
Pre cata for sure. A couple shaman on each elevator in Wrath.
One; I would have thought a stranglethorn vale bridge would be on this list and
2; in the thandol span there’s a hilarious quest where there’s a dwarf that was supposed to deliver some goods but got drunk and ended up stuck on the bridge so you had to deliver the stuff for him, thought that was fun to mention haha
I've been leveling a shaman in WoTLK and just did that small series of quests in the Wetlands and made that connection to the bridge. Kam Deepfury is also the dwarf dude that's in Stockades. Reading quest dialogue is something I've taken for granted but enjoyed a lot on my new playthrough.
When you were talking about Kologarn and that heroic throw just came on screen and one shot him made me laugh so much!
I haven't had any interest in playing wow again in many years, but these exploration vids are still one of my all time favorites.
There are some log bridges in Drustvar, although they're a bit more open than the ones Grizzly Hills/Pandaria. One of them is at (coordinates) 31:65, another at 31:55. There might be more that I missed.
Have I ever played wow? Only once, probably 15 years ago. Do I love these videos? Absolutely, I get excited every time one is posted 💜
I was hoping for the bridge over the Southfury River from Durotar to Barrens to make it!
Seeing a screenshot of Thunder Bluff is one of the reasons I chose a Tauren the first time I played WoW, that and I liked Cairne in Warcraft 3 lol. A big city on top of mesas connected by bridges is still one of coolest ideas for a settlement I've seen in a game.
My favourite bridge is the one in swamp of sorrows that the cortello's riddle quest is under. Just a nice small cozy bridge
"Architexture" is my favourite Crendor word 😂❤
Also, qq! Where's the Howling Fjord bridge? Best view in all of WoW! And if we were to include raids, the bridge in the Firelands, that's being made in front of your eyes during the raid and solidifies out of molten metal, definitely deserves a mention. I vote for a runners-up vid next 😘
But the bridge in firelands isn't pointless. It's needed to access the last 3 bosses
I love those bridges in jade forest, and just the architecture there in general I think is really cool. Love how it kinda flows with the environment but also stands out and connects the hilly landscape. Idk haha good stuff. Also, I think ardenweald had some log bridges, but not sure.
Basically everything in WoW is pointless.
Honorable mentions: Firelands bridge and Lakeshire bridge in Redridge
if you'll ever want to go to shadowlands the second part of the sylvanas fight is on a really long and cool bridge (and there's plenty of chain bridges in the maw/korthia/torghast)
Sgs and pointless top10? In the same day? Holy holy we are feasting today
There is a 3rd log bridge for your list located in Teldrassil. It's a short detour on the route between Darnassus and Dolanaar.
at 7:30 if you go down the side of the mountain at the water and swim to the right around the mountain, staying with the shoreline and heading north, you'll come across an empty dwarven farm that looks like it was going to have quests there but never did. i think its even still there in retail but it may have changed after Cata.
omg the goblin bridge made it on the list lol! i love the idea that you have super inteligent Gnomes making all this "futuristic" tech thats all nice and pretty, meanwhile Goblins are over here just hammering parts and gears together and somehow things still manage to work. back in vanilla i just had to make ALL the gnomish engineering badgets before switching to Goblin for all their gadgets and endless bombs. totally worth.
Man, going to that farm sure would be a [Waist of Time].
when you talk about the log bridges, i had to think about the naxxramas pipe "bridge" that leads to gluths room
I personally love the small Swamp of Sorrows bridge. It gives the zone some unique charm.
Theres a little log bridge in Arathi! Just after the Thandol Span
You know, crendor... Some of these, like this list, aren't really pointless. You could easily argue it's basically trip advisor lists, with interesting places to visit xD
One other log bridge I could think of was the one between bag’Thera the elite tiger boss and the ogres in STV
I like the firelands bridge that extends over the lava and the return to karazan bridge!
First and second place is really solid! Good stuff
Surprised the Firelands bridge didn't make it in.
Sweet bridge collection. I liked the historical approach. Dare I say it helped bridge the knowledge gaps I had.
So here I am.
Just like the rest of you.
Mindlessly browsing youtube in free time.
Randomly refreshing the page and coming upon this video.
Watching this guy.
Rating video game bridges.
My favorite bridges are the friendships we made along the way
Excellent job as usual!
I'd swap 1 & 2, and also SW and TF.
SW bridge is way more epic and important than the general TF bridges.
Fantastic idea for a video series
My favourite bridge is the on in the Pandaren starting zone that has the stairs in the center that head down in to a pandaren holding class.
There’s a grey item in game, Deed to Thandol Span. It’s like the old joke, “Wanna buy a bridge?” You can often find it in BRD.
This video was awesome. I had no idea there was such fantastic variety in world of warcraft bridges.
Absolutely nuts the Lake Everstill bridge didn't make it in :(
There's also that giant bridge in Frostfire Ridge... I kinda like the Bloodhoof Village Bridge but i guess that'd go with Thunderbluff...
Yeah we need a part 2, I cant live in a universe where the bridge between Durotar and The Barrens isnt atleast an honorable mention! Great video Crendor!
and it's twin out the west gate of Orgrimmar
# 9: Minor correction at about 1.15, the Ironhorn Enclave isn't a Skyhorn settlement (though there's one of them there), that settlement belong to the Ironhorn tribe.
Crendor is a national treasure
None of these bridges are pointless though, you have to remember that a new player on a new account doesn't get flying right away and what's more is those players have to discover flight points in order to use them. That means walking to the flight master in each town. To top it off flying was usually given at the end of lvling in each expac, so until you hit lvl cap you still had to walk everywhere.
Then once they are now no longer useful to the player, they are presumably used by the denizens of Azeroth, goods have to be transported, people travel to other towns. We may not be shown that in game, but it's a reasonable assumption based on the pure existence of these bridges.
So that's three purposes right there. (well two and a defunct one);
New player early lvl transport .
Outdated expac style,
And world building, and environmental story telling.
I remember lagging so hard in thunder bluff in vanilla on my crappy laptop. Any attempt at crossing a bridge was tempting death.
Might be pointless content but its very relaxing and enjoyable :)
Speaking on the chain bridge you had to walk up one in the intro to WoD to bomb the forces right before you leave Tanaan Jungle in the intro to WoD. Also definitely think Thunder Bluff should’ve been number ONE!!!
I wonder if there are any log bridges in Ardenweald?
You might even say, Kologarn is the Boss of Bridges xD
for #9 it annoys me how the sagging part of the bridge is right in the middle instead of much closer to the lower part, like it would be irl since the bridge is going up.
Good Bridge list.
Did you consider the firelands bridge? The one that opens up to take you to the last 2 bosses?
that one is definitely in the top 10 worst bridges of wow
15:00 It's not a bridge so much as a slip n' slide but I remember the Highmountain boss where it's a worm and you kill it but then the worm's guts become the downward tube you jump down to collect your loot out the butt.
Great video, thanks!
Definitely need to Top 10 stairs now
Not having Red Ridge/Lakeshore on here is a bummer.
YES I LOVE BRIDGES
Should have added/special mentioned the Firelands Bridge. The first time it, it did impress me.
I dig the big mushroom bridge in the corner of Zamgarmarsh
There are chain bridges in the Maw, and Korthia too.
There’s another log bridge (kinda) in the Legion dungeon in Darkheart Thicket, right before the last boss
I can now say there’s a log bridge between Dread Wastes and Towlong Steppes.
Back in the day when city raids were a think I rember pushing down that bridge when they knew we were coming cause someone told it was a slaughter
I scrolled past all the videos about the backs collapsing because this video is way more important.
as a viewer since pandaria, I hold this series close to my heart
Great feats of Engineering!
Great video, i wish Boar Thrills was more involved in these types of videos.
There's nothing more fun than heroic leaping onto the Dun Baldar Bridge, that's full of horde, charging through them and knocking every single one over the edge.
yeah a couple of the bridges have historical value example -- there are some quests in the barrens that you have to take the thunder bluff bridges . to complete and get some good leveling gear and pots. ( every horde player has fallen off them at least once) another , a almost forgotten about journey - most horde players (there where other ways but they took a long time ) took that bridge and walked through the wetlands and did so rather nervously .
there's a hollowed log bridge in elwynn forest, right at eastvale logging camp
There's a Log Bridge in Feralas in Classic. South of the horde camp.
For me stormwimd Bridge is no1 because of nostalgia. Thanks for the pointless content Crendor- loved it.
Was hoping for the redridge bridge to be on here. Under construction for 10 years
how dare you forget about the Swamp of Sorrow bridge.
I love the bridges ty for vid XD
