      My favourite
      though favourite moment in the 6 Ovid symphonies will come later, the finale of the 6th - nothing like it was composed for at least 100 years after, or more.

      This is indeed one of the better ones. But still D has the annoying habit to hold on to repeated patterns. There is hardly any thematic development and absolutely no counterpoint. And I wonder what the programmatic connection is with the characters of Ovid. The titles might as well be interchangeable.

      @@christianwouters6764 Most people are ignorant of ancient Roman literature, so it would have been helpful to have "program notes" to the music, but that is a modern concept, though Beethoven did it in his 6th symphony, t'was after Dittersdorf's time

      @@Ed_UKation Dittersdorf, Mozart,Haydn and Vanhal formed a string quartet. I wonder what they thought of each others' compositions. If I were D I would not feel to comfortable.

    23:24 sounds like Menuet from Brandenbur concerto 1 of Bach
