@@WrenchingWithKenny2011 Ford Fiesta. Air conditioner has always been cold. I replaced the cabin air filter and since then the air condition blows cold as it use too but now fluctuates. Sometimes at a stop and even sometimes going down the highway at 60 mph. It can be 5-15 mins apart or longer?..
This fixed my a/c problem! Thank you. My car was only getting cool air when driving on the highway. I originally thought it was low on refrigerant and bought a recharge kit, hooked up the gauge, and found out the pressure was in the green. After about two hours of research I came across your video. I have a 2014 Ford Explorer, so I switch out #98 “Air conditioning clutch relay” with the #77 “Trailer tow park lamps relay” relay switch (same type).
So one thing I always do is swap out relays within that fuse box . For example the horn or ac blower fan in the dashboard relay will have the same oem part number as the for example radiator fans. I'll 1st verify the horn is working that tells me that rely is good then swap it out with the radiator fan relay and now see if the horn sounds . If it were the ac blower fan in the dash verify the blower is blowing out the vents then swap and see if the blower still comes on.
@wrenchingwithkenny You could cut the cover off the failed relay and bench test it for demonstration purposes. It has a magnetic solenoid that pulls the contacts together. For this failure mode, the solenoid works but at least one of the contacts have failed. Relays can have multiple contact pairs. You can test this electricaly by using a DVM in resistance mode across the the matching contacts. It should go to 0 ohms when the switch actuates if it is working correctly. You can actuate on a bench by applying 12v and ground to the coil contacts.
What happens to the contacts from arcing over and over they get a jagged surface and not enough of the contact is touching to pass enough current. Also sometimes the surface is so pitted they get hooked and won't release.
Yeah with my 05 Caravan i switched out the fan relay with the horn relay, unfortunately that didn't do the trick. So all the a/c fuses and relays look good, I will now see if I can find my 10 guage wire clips and hook up directly from battery to fan itself to test, because i believe the fans are shot
If the fan is not coming on due to bad contacts how does the engine speed affect it? I thought once relay contacts are corroded or other wise defective they could not pass current. I have the situation where the AC works when driving, and the engine rpm's are above idle, but when the engine is idling the compressor shuts off and it stops blowing cold. As in the title of the video. The video totally did not address that issue.
Have you ever encountered this? 2014 Silverdo blows hot air when ac is on and motor cooling fans start blowing maximum. Turn off AC and cooling fans slow down.
It is not uncommon that a relay fuses it's contacts together or they become extremely pitted, in the old days we would take it apart and run a Burnishing blade between the contacts to clean & polish them up. But we now are in the throw away zone today.
Got a Cadillac cts , when I drive throws cold air when I idle at red light for to long , it will throw hot air and gauge will go up high and I when I start driving again it goes back down . What’s the problem. ? Is it this ?!
My fan turns on but A/C blows hot air at idle with normal cool setting but does cool on maximum cool setting at idle. When in motion, normal cooling works fine. Not a fan issue.

They keep trying to tell me it's my AC fan if it could be an easy fix like this you rock! My ex was mechanic my ex before him and my father growing up why can't I get away from you guys LOL but that was one good thing about having him around them but they were all bad guys so I want to know how to get this fan going before I drive off because driving it blows out cold sitting it's blowing out hot if it's just the relay switch and out of $500 fan you're the man! 2018 Toyota Corolla .. switch all relays to HORN relay to test them out. They all made the horn work. Is there something else that can cause AC to not work when not in movement? AC blows cold air when driving but anytime the car stops it stops blowing COLD air

Could be that the cooling fans aren't working. The ac may not be commanding the fan, the fan control might not be working. Could be a wiring issue. I really can't give you anymore info without having access to the car. I hope the info helps. Thanks for watching 🔧

I had a passenger mess with the wires under glovebox replaced everything you talked about in the video when I mess with some of the wires under the dash it runs but shuts off I’m convinced it’s a short or the wires aren’t in all the way because of the passenger messing with the wires with their foot

May car ac seem to squeak in low rpm or in idle, and when it squeak, it blows no cold air. But when driving, squeak is gone and it blows cold air. What seem to be the problem? Thanks!
The cooling fan may not be working when it's supposed to so the pressure builds up which might be the squeak. It's hard to say with out looking at it though. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Thanks for watching 🔧
Mine was just seviced it blows cold while driving until this clicking sound from the passenger side kick panel at that point the idle drops low & shuts off. If i turn the air off, i dont have this problem
My cool ac works for a couple of minutes then turns off and a few minutes later turn back on and few minutes later the cool air will switch to heat what could it be?
Just replace a blower motor on my 2017 Ford Fusion. But now when i try putting it on MAX AC it doesnt feel like the air isnt blowing out as hard as before. Its gets cold still but it seems to blow slower now. Any ideas?
Great video on a simple fix for condenser fan cooling. My lexus 460 doesn't cool the vehicle at idle when started, one I start driving everything goes back to normal cooling. Any idea on the issue.
Many cars have two cool8ng fans. One for the radiator and one for the ac. The ac fan may have failed and when the car is warm the radiator fan comes on and keeps the ac partly cool. The ac fan normally runs constantly when ac is on for most cars with electric fans.
thanks I have a Suburban 2012 the ac is working but it seems the compressor is on and off coz sometimes is cool blowing and sometimes is hot blowing what I have to check ?
@@Tru2DeathSon till now no Im thinking to replace the radiator with a big modified radiator will be made by aluminium raditor factory bigger one cos I think the fans of the radiator is almost run most time here in Gulf Countries and when one of the tow fans stopped for any reason the tempreture will go very high and you cant drive the car otherwise you will lose your engine already both of fans motor replaced but not fix the problem and the other modified is disconnecting water cooling for the gearbox thanks

The problem is obvious. Looking at the top of the relay, you will see the letters “FoMoCo”. That’s it.

Wish i would of tried this first, shop said i had a "leak" i was low 1 gallon and a half of freon. 😑.

Why is AC stop cooling at high speeds but works fine at low speeds?

What fan are we talking about? Big radiator fan(s) or fan inside of car that you control from inside?
My air and gauges stop when driver door is closed but works when driver door is opened

Take a screwdriver and tap the fan blades. They could just be stuck. Watch your fingers!
My ac worked great I cut the car off got back in it and not working now Compressor not coming on Relay im thinking?

Run a wire from compressor wire to the battery and see if it comes on
