  • Dr. Eric Huff of JPL joined us on August 28, 2023 to share about dark matter and NASA's Euclid mission. The Euclid space telescope will be the first designed to study the still-mysterious accelerated expansion of the Universe. The Euclid mission will go about making measurements of dark energy and dark matter.

Thank you so much Night Sky Network and Dr. Eric Huff! Great talk, I thought Dr. Huff explained Euclid's mission and the background concepts so clearly and kindly in view of what non-cosmologists like me might be able to take in. It's amazing and awe-inspiring to me that cosmologists, physicists et al - "the community" he referred to - are zeroing in on fundamental aspects of the universe, like dark matter and dark energy, that are impossible for human beings to see or feel. And also that they are doing this through working together from all different angles to try to figure out what the 'elephant' is without being able to see it. Truly exciting. We are here in a tiny nano-second of the lifetime of the universe trying to glimpse its beginning and ultimate fate. Woah!
