That diagram comes from an issue of Guitar World Magazine, in the back of thier issues theyd have those diagrams for different bands guitarists, when I was a teen i had like 100 of them plastered on my walls

For those who don't know, the name of the genre is shoegaze.

They definitely have some shoegaze elements but they wouldn’t be considered shoegaze. Alternative metal is probably more appropriate if you want to give them a label
@@feezo Exactly, thanks for the correction. Some Deftones songs have very similar guitar and drum tones to shoegaze, so it's a little confusing to tell the difference.
