Let's go back in time to check out the wild world of Monster high! From it's first web series, to it's attempted reboot, and the new movie coming out later this week! Let's dive in!
Monster High will always and forever be iconic, and I have to admit it’s not ruined as much as Winx Club which is one thing I can be thankful for. But on the real though, I still love Winx Club, but it’s sad to see Winx Club lose what charm it once had back in the days.
What scares me is that Monster High is now being handed off to Nickelodeon, which is largely attributed to the downfall of Winx Club because they wanted to make a show for older teens into a show for young kids. I really hope the same doesn't happen to Monster High.

I don't make a habit of defending nickelodeon, but the fact that Winx never recaptured why people liked it, neither in later seasons nor spin offs. It kinda says Nick wasn't the main problem, at least not now.

Reading Ghoulia's Diary stated Clawdeen and Cleo didn't get along for alittle while because Cleo broke up with Clawd and started seeing Deuce. I guess the diaries helps to understand some of the issues some of the monsters have.
Venus and Lagoona are my favourites. Lagoona mainly because I'm Australian and it was just sooo nice to hear my accent (despite how bad) in a cartoon for once. Venus just because she looks cool.

In regards to your one statement; considering how the newest iteration of Monster High has Frankie depicted as non binary, it might be safe to say that we'll see Clawdeen's sexual preferences be explored.
Speaking of Frankie, I think this new version of her makes perfect sense. Due to being literally made up of random parts, one never knows exactly if much of them came from JUST male or female corpses
And to contribute to your last statement, I think it's fun that now they have a prosthetic leg since maybe they didn't have enough meat body parts so they had to use metallic ones too (and also serves as a replacement for the neck bolts)

@@noctisastrum7495 The worst thing is the prosthetic is not removable like their other limbs so it’s kind of stupid I would rather give the prosthetic to Claudine or another character that can’t remove their limbs already

Ahhhh critter this makes me so happy😭I didn’t even think about how fitting a review like this would be for the spooky season! For me wat I loved about monster high is just all the character design possibilities based on which monster they are, and how that gets incorporated into their fashion/overall look. It’s kinda like how rwby and EAH do fairytales, there’s endless ways to interpret them and condense them into characters
I will never forget the boom that was monster high at my school, how everyone started to have pink and black patterns on their clothes or school stuff, that halloween when all the girls were dressed up as monster high (especially draculaura, cleo and franki).
And as a person who's first entry to monster high was the movies, I will say that they are great and everyone should watch them, my favorites are Freaky Fusion, Hounted and Friday Night Frights.
Abbey was always my fave from the cast because of how funny yet endearing she was😂😂😂 Also I'd like to see your opinion on the new stuff because I have complicated feelings with it. There's definetly cool stuff but there are also dumb things such as Clawdeen now being described as half human half werewolf... despite the fact that werewolves are already half human half wolf creatures so is she now 3/4 human and 1/4 wolf????? The animated series looks cute tho.
I agree with you about the Clawdeen thing, also I highly dislike her new character design...she totally lost her original bold, fierce, and flashy vibe which made her my third favorite monster high character. Now she just feel and looks bland and boring as hell lmao
So far in this latest reboot my favorite character is Frankie and they are basically the only character I kinda like sadly.
I got into Monster High back in 2011, I was obsessed with it, collecting a lot of the original dolls, watching the movies and such, as the series progressed until 2017. Good times.
Actually, whenever monster high did the specials they aired on nick like I remember seeing them premiere and I'm down to see more of you talk about this.
Ok I’m 42 years old, and know nothing of this. I just watched it on Paramount Plus, and I really loved it. So I guess I’m saying, from someone coming in with no biases, it’s was a good movie on itself. Well, if you enjoy musicals. Also, I was coming off being really sick, and I actually feel really good after watching it. LOL
4:12 and 4:13 should be switched around. Sarah Screams is from Ireland and Lorna McNessie is from Scotland. Sorry that was just something that stood out to me and I wanted to offer a quick correction.
So fun fact Monster High and Nickelodeon have been working together for, well since it’s debut.
Nickelodeon aired all of the Monster High specials around Halloween.
Starting with New Ghoul @ School all the way to Electrified. (And you know, now with the 2022 reboot)
The doll sales weren’t the ONLY thing that was MH’s downfall. (The two videos in the description go further in detail but since I’ve been a fan of the franchise since it came out I also know what happened) Long story short Mattel screwed over Disney who gave Mattel money to make their Disney Princess dolls. Mattel took that money to start Ever After High. Disney got angry, took their money & partnership to Hasbro and Monster High AND Ever After High took heavy hits.
Also I know the CGI isn’t the best but I absolutely adore the G1 Monster High movies.

I feel bad for anyone whose favorite was Clawd or Howleen because it seems like the OG series is the only time they're there. I didn't actually hate the live action movie. I still want another show that's more mature (not sex or cursing) as far as psychological issues and themes for the characters. I still wish we could've seen more of Deuce in the first show. He was such a cool guy and in this made-up show of mine, I'd love seeing him and Cleo and more depth with their plotlines. Also, 🤣What was that last line from with the "I just wanna talk to the demons," ?

Funny enough I started to know monster high by their movies rather than their web series. I really liked the movies but was confused when new characters were pushed in front when the previous movies didn’t introduce them. Now I know it was from their web series... which makes sense lol

I’ve seen almost all the 3D animated movies. They were my childhood and most had fairly interesting storylines. I would love to see you do a video some of them
I actually really liked monster high and was a big fan of it being being dolls modeled after monsters, and there message about accepting the weirdness and strange as who you are.
Later versions though I felt lost that and felt more like you’re typical pretty girl dolls. Without the hole edge the monster part brought.
I’d love to hear more about you exploring this series from you.
Also little trivia. Monster high had a student that ended up at ever after high.
2:15 yeah, I believe they used to air some webisodes in commercial breaks for a few channels (Teletoon is my prime example), but I only think it was for its first couple years because I never saw anymore following 2013
I feel like the Nickelodeon Monster High cartoon will be like their TMNT cartoon, having it's own charm, not in many of the ways that the original did, but still fun and lively in it's own way
and people wonder why monster girls are so popular.
I like Monster High as much as anyone, but waiting for more than 6 months to your next Ever After High review is torture.
I love the OG MH and EAH dolls, but I never got any, even though I was an obsessive fan of both shows. Curse my little sister's insistence on destroying not only all of her own dolls, but all of mine as well. It's why my parents only ever bought us knock off Barbies, all our good quality dolls came from aunts and uncles and friends, and those never lasted for more than a few months. Now, the dolls are so expensive second hand, and as much as I want them, I'm not willing to pay over a hundred dollars for a good quality Thronecoming doll.
Though I may not be a major fan of this series, despite literally just being the monster version of The Bratzs, I could stay It couldn't gotten way worst or still gotten better. Fun Fact; one of the actors and actresses would alter on work on High Guardian Spice; let that sink In!

Gotta love how each generation picks a new ghoul to be the main character. Hopefully, G4 has my queen Cleo as the lead, with her being a mean girl less like Regina George and more like Sasha Waybright (Less vindictive for the sake of being mean, more the friend with the hero complex who thinks she knows what's best for everyone, bossing and pushing you down thinking she's actually helping/protecting you, then coming to the realization that she might be a bad person)
I prefer the original Monster High cartoon then the reboot because the original have lots of character that I know especially on the CGI movie but the reboot and it's two movie series have missed out some of the characters from the original like Ghoulia, Headless Headmistress Bloodgood, Holt Hyde, Jinafire, Skelita and other characters from the original. But also include Cleo's sister Nefera and Clawdeen's sister Howleen and older brother Clawd. Plus they did start the 6th series before the new reboot which doesn't make sense to me why, I mean they could have a special length episode of where the original Ghouls student graduate from monster high and show in the end of what they have been up to since they left like their career, married and raise a family of their own. That would bring the end of monster high series instead of making the reboot and then cancel it.
Funfact: in the dairies i believe it was draclaura meeting clawdeen for the first time described clawdeen as being “wildly cute”

I remember this from my childhood. I can say with some confidance that it shaped my upbringing. I tried rewatching it but the lack of a story line, the short episodes and the poorly aged animation just made it impossible, i'm really interested in this new reboot.
I love the Monster High webisodes and movies, they cheered me up during my dark times alongside My Little Pony. I’m looking forward to the reboot show and recently watched the movie. So far, it’s good and I’m also currently collecting the first wave.
Watching this video made me realize how different the webisodes are from the movies. I grew up ONLY watching the movies, so hearing that Lagoona never had much of a presence in the webisodes kind of weirded me out

Monster High is still my EVERYTHING. I was a huge collector and played with them everyday.
My favorite ghoul is definitely Spectra. She might not be an official Ghoulfriend, but I just love her. She's so much fun, the stuff with her getting gossip by spying in the walls, the film noir episode with Heath (literally my favorite webisode), and the entirety of Haunted (not only the good plot, but the SpectraXPorter ship was my entire life in elementary school). I was so mad when G2 replaced her with Ari Hauntington, and I hope she is coming back in G3.

13:36 Okay I know the reason is 'The dolls feat are sculpted this way and we want every bit of clothing to be interchangable on any other doll' but erm, I cannot be the only one who winces every time she see's cheerleader outfits with stileto heals right? like you form a human/monster pyramid in those and all you're going to do is end up with a lot of impaled shoulders/clavicals.

As a boy I really love and enjoy the OG MH I was slightly insecure because you know boys don't watch girls stuff. I made my own superhero characters taking inspirations off of them. I still watch it to this day, but I refuse to watch the reboot because how much they change the lore and as for new movie I'm just gonna skip it.

It's so iconic and doesn't make them all cutesy and apart from the hair volume and curls, makes the characters look nice! I love that animation and what I would give to get another G1 monster high movie like those with a good story

I’m a male and I had a bunch of the dolls as a kid. My sister, my cousin, and me loved this franchise. My favorite characters where Jackson Jeckle and Clowd Wolf.
The only thing that stopped me from becoming a Monster High fan back in the day was this unfortunate thing known as "being male"

Nickelodeon broadcasting the new monster high show doesn't surprise since I watch the movies and shorts on the Nickelodeon's tv channel. I didn't know that you could watch the whole series on CZcams until now. I just thought it was a nick show
tbh i actually enjoyed the animation and appearance of the monster high movies, idk i just always liked seeing it and would use my little sister as an excuse to watch them with her when she was a toddler

Enchantimals actually started as an Ever After High spinoff as they appear in Dragon Games but then when Ever After High stopped cough cough Descendants cough cough they became their own thing.

2. So long as it doesn't break the canon too much. Like, you couldn't have Torchwick showing up in Haven, y'know?
3. Go ham changing their design if you want! (But make sure they're recognizable) and for personalities, so long as it doesn't come across as a totally different character that's fine! Like, you cant make Glynda bubbly and bouncy, understand?

I'm excited and dreading the nwe Monster High beacuse while they fixed/improved a lot from the original, they also made some stupid changes. And of course, like many others that's the changing of Clawdeen and Lagoona's character. I like Lagoona's new look not gonna lie but did they REALLY need to change her completely? Like they love making new characters why not do it again? And Clawdeen I can be forgiving to making her more nerdy since yeah, there's a lot of math and stuff invovled in fashion

It was nice, My sister liked it a lot, I remember kinda liking it, but no paying that much attention to it, we use to watch it on TV, it was promoted a lot on Cartoon Network, at least on my side of the Globe, I think one of the characters was a head, I don't know, maybe I'm confusing it with ever after high, but I didn't saw much of that one, point is I have some good memories about Monster High and so does my sister, so yeah, it was nice
I'm so mad I first discovered monster high right around the time I stopped playing with toys (I played with dolls for a really long time too!), so I never got into this as a kid/teen.

Jackson/Holt were always my favorites and I hated the way they were both done dirty (everyone kept forcing a switch on them and I hated that).
Ah,Monster High,my childhood,my beloveds,the first dolls I was truly obsessed with. The dolls,the show,the movies,all of it! It's something I have close to my heart. Which you're right! The web episodes would air on TV sometimes! At least for me on Cartoon Network.
With the reboot,the second generation sucked,a lot. But this new one? While the movie doesn't manage to convince me,the show looks pretty good! I have my criticisms,but stuff is cool regardless!
I love how Frankie is non-binary AND has a prosthetic leg on top of actually acting as if electricity runs through their body and they're truly 15 days old. Draculaura is shorter and curvier,a popular interpretation of the fandom which I adore. And the dolls have so much love!! The designs are awesome,th quality too!! I love Monster High is it obvious,sorry for such a long comment

Based on what people who MH fans say, the live action movie wasnt good.
To me it looks like the show decided to blend *Harry Potter and High School Musical* . The plot doesnt make sense because the school now hates humans but half the students and teachers are reanimated humans and werewolves are by definition half-human. If you know the characters you will know the real villain in an instant [so the movie is made for people not familiar with MH] and how he is defeated is cheesy. And the lack of budget is very obvious
Thank you for this review, I would love to see more Monster High content in the future. I grew up on the webisodes and movies and still remember reading all the monster bios on the website and playing a lot of the MH video games. This franchise is very dear to my heart, but the first reboot unfortunately made me fall off hard. I appreciate the change of Frankie's pronouns in the new movie and series, though I'm not a fan of live-action adaptations of animated works in general, so I probably won't be watching it. I'm just gonna stay with the classics for now.
Guys I'm watching the new live action reboot now: updates to follow. First impressions, Clawdeen continues to be sporty from the beginning since the opening is her being awesome at a skate park.
Edit 1: Clawdeen's dad is wholesome and so supportable and I'm here for it. Also so far the music is niiiice. Excited for the rest of the songs. Special effects are to be expected from something like this
Edit 2: Frankie is already a treasure and I'm loving it. And they kept that they're 15 days old. Also Cleo and Lagoona being beasties is...weird. Heath your makeup/body paint is just...odd.
Edit 3: Ghoulish speaking normal is gonna take getting used to. Loving the outfits on the background characters. They look cool despite just being there. Showcasing Frankie as someone who spews out facts is an interesting concept given how much she read up on the world (via the magazines lol) in the original. She reads articles instead of magazines yes, but nice that she's smart because she's "made from the greatest minds"
Edit 4: this movie isn't afraid to poke fun at itself a bit. Also Clawdeen and Duece maybe being a thing is soooooo odd and I'm not okay with it. Also the humor with the puns are great but also...not
Edit 5: I was skeptical of Draculaura's changes but I'm a tally loving it. Still prefer the original no doubt but her reboot isn't bad. Definitely vibing with the new Frankie. And Cleo is rocking the Queen Bee stereotype

I hate the animation in this show. The flash animation looks pretty bad. It's obvious that the show is rigged. I hate how the hair has too much unnecessary movement. It's annoying and distracting. I wish the hair rarely moved at all unless the wind was blowing or a character was running.

I've been into monster high since I was a kid and tbh I'm not excited for the new movie at all. No offense but it looks like they changed clawdeen entirely. The main three are like, the nice popular kids and she isn't that much of a nerd, Frankie is. Clawdeen is the fashion freak and the athletic one. Honestly, it feels like they're just trying to push points with most the reboots, not just of monster high but of a lot of different shows. Changing ethnicites (in clawdeens case it makes sense) genders, sexualities. Clawdeen would make total sense to be a lesbian and it would make total sense for Frankie to be non binary but ngl, why not just make her non binary in the begining of the total show not just pushing an agenda by making them introduce them selves with their pronouns first before anything else. Frankie is probably made of both girl and guy parts, so it'd kinda be obvious to be a they them other than a girl but doing it the way they did kinda feels forced in this day and age
The way I see it, Monster High was for sure the better doll line, but Ever After High had the better story line.

Clawdeen was never hinted to be lesbian, Valentine was the only one hinted to be gay. Please stop spreading misinformation. Garret Sanders the creator said he likes the idea of her being lesbian, because a fan asked them in her story if she was intended to be, he said no, but he’s not against it and fully supports people who say she is.
I’m only saying this because Mattel had been getting backlash for having clawdeen like deuce in the third generation saying that they erased that she was lesbian when that was never the case.
