      Hi
      I had a water leak from my bathroom
      That went onto my dining room ceiling. It’s left a long crack
      Should I get it repaired or Reboard whole ceiling?
      Will the crack come back if fixed?

    Just my two cents from repairing ceiling cracks. Standard method is New Zealand is to use paper tape over the crack and drive in a few more screws.I would definitely recommend using fibrefuse if you can get it. And then just float out the patch 👍

    I have seen it to be quite common to fill and then use mesh tape over the crack and then remud over the tape. Whatever causes the cracks seem to recrack it anyway in a year or 2. Maybe the tape is supposed to prevent that?

    • @Inexteriors
      @Inexteriors  Před 2 lety

      Greg Davidson. I have seen it to bud, if there is movement i think it would crack again, some times things just need keeping on top of.

  • @willandelfie
    @willandelfie Před 10 měsíci

    I rake it out and v the crack and first I just used filler but it kept coming back so raked it all out again this time I made a hole about every 6 inches along the crack check in attic for cables or use a pointed old screwdriver to make the holes then I wet the holes with water down P V A and use expanding foam in the holes trim off the foam when set and push it in a little with sandpaper then use filler its been 2 years now and crack has not come back.

    Those cursed ceiling cacks! Would you advise acrylic filer/decorators caulk for hairline cracks as they are likely to return with normal filer? Hopefully the acrylic should flex.

    • @Inexteriors
      @Inexteriors  Před 3 lety

      @Aidan Duddy i like the easi fil stuff as it is so versatile, if there is movement above then i think anything you fill with will come back through, i think sometimes there are just things that need doing more often than others. Let me know what you end up using.

      Also if there is movement the joints will crack again sometimes there is jobs we need to keep on top of every couple of years, nothing is full proof in this world all we can do is our best.
