Will they make a cool season version?
Glyphosate kills people. Causes cancer.
Our yard in SW PA has clover everywhere, it's beautiful! It feeds the rabbits, groundhogs, bees and butterflies.
Yup!
I re-did my backyard lawn after a construction project, so I planted mini-clover instead of grass. It’s awesome.
I wish my whole yard was clover, I’m getting ready to sew the rest of it it makes a great yard, and it’s good for the bees 🐝
I like clover too. We have both white and pink. Looks nice & keeps our bees happy. Bees make the gardens full of pollinated veggies.
Yep green is green! Love them BEES!
Depends on what type of clover. Red good, white not so much. If you want to get rid of clover you don’t need chems. You can spread white sugar on it, and it’ll kill clover and fertilize the soil at the same time.
@@guyh.4121 Very interesting, do you have more info? How does it work? I too like my clover and Creeping Charlie and prefer them both to grasses. What else will the sugar harm? I know my ants will love it!
@@nebulousvoid ..I just got it off another video and it seems to work for me. I have a big patch of white clover and virtually no grass in the area.
Clover was once included in bags of grass seed. Then Scotts developed Weed and Feed which killed clover. So they then convinced us that clover was bad.
Glad to hear you say this. I've never gotten into lawn care that much and trying to up my game. I have it in my lawn and I've always thought it looked pretty nice.
I personally like the look of clover. Ended up putting down clover in my backyard where grass was thinning/dying from too much shade and pine trees. The clover is nice and thick, and the turf is the greenest and thickest its been in years.
How do you plant clover? Do they sell clover seed like grass seed? I’d like to put down clover too.
@edwardjackson9871 Yes. I bought mine through a local seed company in Colorado called Pawnee Butte Seed company. They asked me several questions about my landscape, Sq. Ft, etc. Then they suggested the amount of seed needed for that area. Just to warn you, it took a couple of years before it started filling in thicker.
Clover attracts honey bees . WINNING
I keep the clover in my lawn in the upper midwest for the native pollinators.
My lawn is three types of grasses and clover. Clover is about 10% of the total area.
One year the clover almost all died back on it's own. It came back.
My neighbors keep the dandelions going for the bugs in the spring. LOL
Dandelion is a permaculture food source as far as I'm concerned. From wine and tea friendly flowers down through salad and stir-fry leaves to multi-purpose food/beverage roots.
@@thisbushnell2012 I have eaten dandelion greens and fried up dandelion flowers. They are not an endangered species where I live. Just because I grow more clover in my yard for the bees and native pollinators does not mean I am for eradicating dandelions everywhere. If all my neighbors grow corn and I grow squash it does not make me anti-corn.
Geese, rabbits, and deer. Those are my weed managers. I haven’t sprayed a herbicide in almost a decade.
I used a herbicide on my gravel drive for a couple of years, but overspray and leaching caused two of my old white oaks serious damage. That sealed the deal on never using that crap again. Now I tamp and roll in the spring to fix frost heave and just mow the drive very low. As soon as things dry out in late spring, everything looks great.
Here in Northwest Florida the clover greens up much earlier than the grass. It seeds out and dies and fixes the nitrogen on its own about the time the grass is greening up and growing. Keeping the weeds mowed down before they seed will eventually kill them off, albeit more slowly. To each his own, but I much prefer that to the constant use of pesticides.
Pollinators love clover, sit on your front door stoop/porch boiling in the sun while your cat lays comfortable in shade under the cedar tree, and watch honey bees and a bumble or two visit and revisit those little blooms - a terrific show until you fade from heatstroke - time to retreat Mr. Cat.
I've given up on trying to control weeds since I try not to spray too many chemicals.
I like the way clover feels and looks but it's difficult mowing the lawn. I have to move very slowly and look out for the honey bees.
Thank you for sharing this. I have doveweed in my garden bed and sprayed Glysophate over a week ago and did not see any improvement. I will spray with Celsius. This is the good thing of being a subscriber 😊
Had no idea, thanks for sharing. Finally have temps cool enough that I can spot spray for broadleaf (including clover). Thanks Al!
dont spray chemicals please. contaminates the ground water
The clover here in my yard usually dies back in the summer here in Texas. During the summer months St. Augustine chokes it out except in the damp shaded areas where St. Augustine grows thin.
I’ve used Fert-a-lime weed free zone for white clover in the past, I add a little 2-4-D and usually have to apply a couple of times but it burns clover out without disrupting the turf too badly!
My cows love clover. Thanks for the education
My NW Georgia lawn is native and clover makes up about 20%. My low pasture, next to the house, has red and white clover. I really like the coverage and the fact that white clover supports pollinators especially in the early spring.
Back in the 60s when my parents put in the lawn up north Kentucky blue the guy said make sure you have some clover and we did it didn’t take over everything so it look nice
Oh wow. Super helpful. Thank you!
I just got back from Turks and Caicos ad I was extremely surprised to see clover down there. It was growing under some bushes on the east side of a building so it got alot of shade.
Clover is everywhere as well as here in Florida. I have it in my Bahia.
That’s gotta be the nicest race track grass I’ve seen. tracks are going to Astro turf at tracks now too.
First Aussie 😁. Al , you teach us something new every day . 😎
Great video brother.👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
That was good info brother thanks again
Makes sense why it immediately came back after my renovation.
Fert & Squirt. Blow & Grow. Some great t-shirt ideas from the Freedom Factory!
A MAJOR benefit of of clover is its 'attractibility' to pollinators !!!!! As an avid amateur gardener who has noticed the recent significant decline of virtually ALL pollinators and which has forced such gardeners to tediously HAND POLLINATE to ensure crop yields, the planting/seeding of clover in one's lawn has been a salvation for increased pollinators - especaily european honey bees and wild native bees when the clover is 'in flower'.
I have a lot of clover in my yard in S. Atlanta. I love to watch the bees feed off it.
had a HUGE break out of clover this year, had to treat it with some spray you previously discussed so thanks!
Didn't know that with the ProVista and clover. Will have to keep an eye out for it. Don't have any clover at the moment .
While speaking of "-ides," any thoughts on using Dithiopyr on fine fescue as a pre-emergant? Wondering if I nuked it in my mixed specie lawn, or if I had some bent grass mixed in with the KBG.
I tell ya, I know the Iodosulfuron in Celsius is supposed to be the new hotness, but that Dicamba in Celsius is still a clover killer.
...and I think Dutch White is a warm-season Clover, so I don't think heat necessarily damages it, or at least doesn't damage it any more than an other warm-season plant.
Wow! Great results and fast!! Have you tried Tenacity? Works great in Tall Fescue up here in the northeast (where we have A LOT of clover & chickweed!)
Good to see you're cleaning up the Freedom Factory. Do it for Dale!!!!
My yard got absolutely hit this year with clover. Tried the Weed B Gon a about 7 days ago. Some gone, But a lot there still. Recommends not to hit it again until 21 days, And only once more per year. I may have to try some of the products you guys are recommending
Oxalis clover is my bane. (Northern lawn)
Tried multiple grass safe, as well as killzone/tenacity, at best the lawn around died and the clover turned purple before surging again. -_-
I'll give speedzone a shot.
What about alyce clover? Any tips for selective removal?
What do you recommend for crabgrass and POA for California?
Allen what wood you recommend for getting rid of yellow wood sorrel ❓TY
I’ve been looking into getting a bottle of Celsius but I heard that you can only do two apps a year on the Lawn is that true?
Learned something new! I thought glyphosate killed every unwanted weed and most grasses. That explains why there's still clover in a section of my lawn that I killed off for a lawn reno. I figured I just missed a few spots 😛
Glyphosate kills people, causes cancer. I know.
What’s the best thing for weeds in summer time in Texas at Augustine
Tenacity worked wonders for me. Clovers just slowly disappears. No browning
I've done several applications of tenacity but still can't get rid of the clover. Starting to think nothing will.
Is there anything for cooler grass types?
So if you mulch mow over the clover on a low wheel setting won't the nitrogen feed the soil as the clover composts.
Can I use it on tall fescue?
Our glyphosate is 7% and works very well, what is the reason for the 40% product?
Does the bottle make a lot more solution or are warm season weeds more difficult to kill?
Damn I thought Allyn was about to ride his mower up to the camera and start talking 🤣
Any recommendations for getting rid of dollar weeds?
😮😮 Did not know that glyphosate won’t kill Clover. I normally use Speedzone for clover. Great information Allyn.
didn't know that either but it definitely kills doveweed.
It’s not true. I did a full reno on my clover filled backyard last year and used glyphosate and it smoked all of it. I know for a fact because I have no clover this year at all…not sure where got that info from but it’s not correct
I just checked my label of Eraser (41% glyphosate) and can confirm clover is listed on it for total control
Glyphosate is also not great at killing Henbit so mixing dicamba/glyphosate usually takes care of everything in my rocks quickly.
I just spot sprayed the on me spot I saw 15 minutes ago 😂
Man i live in Louisiana and I'd LOVE to have the Scott's provista in my yard 😢😢 they won't ship sod that far they said
Would Celsius work on killing clover in Tall Fescue? And did you just mow the dead clover or pull any out?
Clover is no joke up here in Maine, it's a lil bit one year, then everywhere next year. And even if ya get it to die, it comes back! 😢
Use a double dose of 2,4-D in Northern and southern lawns. Add surfactant. One of the easiest weeds to kill honestly
I live in Michigan..I do not love clover….it can be a stubborn nightmare up here in my Kentucky blue grass…
I use a combination of speed zone for clover etc. and tenacity for all the bad grasses (grab grass, goose grass, etc)
Ok Allen your thoughts on micro clover lawns? I’m seeing it online everywhere. I’m looking at putting it down in an area of my lawn here in north Texas. It’s a very shaded area that normal grass will not grow.
I think it's really cool as an accent, like a transition between lawn and landscape. But I don;t see it as a "complete lawn replacement" or anything close to that.
We’re in west Tx (same zone as North Tx), and also have two areas where grass won’t grow bc there’s too much shade. We’ve put down sod several different times, and it always dies. So, we ordered some of the micro clover seeds to put down in those two areas. We haven’t spread it yet bc we have a retaining wall to finish around a flower bed first which is on the agenda for this weekend. Once we get that wall built and there’s not as much traffic in that area, we r going to spread the micro clover seed.
@@Thelawncarenut I think in the right situation it might be cool as a lawn. That being said most of my lawn is ST Augustine.
I'm on the edge of a small town so my neighbors don't seem to mind my clover, Creeping Charlie and dandelions and milkweeds. But I do utilize them. The milkweeds harbor monarchs and bees, are medicinal and smell amazing.
Well, I am truly glad that glyphosate doesn’t kill everything!
I like the look of clover in the lawn. However, each clover stem is like a little tube of water. When you mow, this moisture causes the grass and clover cutting parts to pack under your deck, even when mowing in dry weather. So your deck is full of organic cement every week. My experience, SE MN mostly clover lawn.
Any advice for pet-friendly weed control?
Will Celsius kill Kentucky Blue Grass etc., as we live in Wisconsin and am wondering if I can use this on my lawn without killing my grass? Thanks, Bob
What is your mixture per acre?
Back in the day, your tip on mixing baby shampoo into the weed-be-gone for spraying clover changed my life and got me hooked.
Also that was one of your all time funniest videos, flexing your muscles at your neighbor who mowed stripes pointing at your yard 😂😂😂 should be mandatory viewing for the newbies.
that's going way back bro! Great memory!
Surfactant
Celsius crushes clover so well
How do I know which type of St. Aug I have?!?
Time to get some celsius. Nvm doesnt ship to my area in Florida panhandle.
I get something that looks like clover (SoFla St. Auglawn) but it has no flowers
I like clover, I welcome it.
The dead clover did better than the Flagship!
Lol. I’d like to know what rare flagship was applied at.
Lol you must be high, his products are some of the best on the market. You must not be able to follow instructions well.
😂😂😂
@@jds6014 In the video at the beginning you can see him putting down flagship on the same piece of land that he kills the clover. A week later the clover spots are noticibly greener than the other spots.
Hey, Allen, do u have a recommended herbicide for clover in the cool season lawn?
I use Speedzone or Triad in my TTTF.
I just got some triclopyr for my clover. Should be arriving soon and had good reviews so I’m hoping it’ll do the job.
Yeahhhh I heard back in the day farmers would add 5%clover to their grass seed for the Nitrogen factor!!!!!!
Hey baby I can tell by that thumbnail we must BE BACK AT THE FREEDOM FACTORY WOOOWHEEEE
Good for warm season but what’s safe to put on all types of clover (brandy wine clover, etc.) on Cool season (TTF)?
Speedzone works great, just spray in the evening when it's cooler outside to avoid turf injury.
@@Thelawncarenut gotcha! Thanks for all your help!
I use 2‚ 4-D Amine.. kills clover but then it comes right back! And the clover thatch is so thick it really covers in spots...... :(
Sorry to post this here. But need an expert. Sprayed tenacity last fall. Then sprayed Bayer Acclaim Extra for Japanese Stiltgrass this spring month before reseeding(thinking the stiltgrass would die) Now the stiltgrass is probably going to kill my new inch high grass. I know recommendations say I can't spray anything on newly seeded lawn for 30 days. But I fear I will lose my new lawn before then. Help anyone.
Dollar weed is my Bain in my st aug
so what will kill clover in southeast virginia fescue
Did you get to ride in the yellow airplane?
I leave the clover cuz it attracts the bunnies.
And I just push N to compensate
It’s dicamba. You don’t need an expensive name brand
Bet the clover came in on a northern car or truck that ran at the track. Just a thought. Someone wanted you to remember your northern days
Miss these style of videos, reminds me of the greenscreen days
Fun fact. When you use the wrong herbicide on clover I will appear in my ranger panties and vest and taunt you. 😂
if you show up here in Ranger Panties I'll take you fishing. Just give me at least 4 hours notice. 😂
@@Thelawncarenut best I can do is 2. Sorry 😢
I bet the clover came there one one of the cars that race at the Freedom Factory 🇺🇸
If there are campouts at that track before race day then this clover was brought in by an out of State camper.
How do I kill a warm season grass in my cool season lawn?
I've been using Turflon Ester (Triclopyr active ingredient) and Tenacity on my fescue to kill the bermuda grass. You can mix them in the same tank if you want. It works pretty well and the Tenacity turns the bermuda grass white, so you can see where it is in the lawn easier for future treatments.
A mustache it looks like a French tickler😅🎉
🍀 is there from being a carried with the train n wind
I'll take clover over grass any day!
Clovers are green weeds are green. The deer snack on clover more than the grass cause it's more protein for the animals we like to eat.
I love my clover, wouldn't kill it for anything.
Speedzone works great for us northern cool season lawn folks.
Is Celsius safe for all St Augustine grass?
yes it is. It's the go-to weed control for summer. No heat restrictions.
Yep and it works on a ton of different weeds. It's expensive but very well worth every penny. You get bang for buck with how great a shelf life it has due to barely needing to mix a lot of the solution each use. You could easily get a 10 oz. Bottle and have it last 3 years or more cause of the mix rates. Practically pays for itself over time.
Did not know that, though Round Up killed anything green.
Can I use in Wisconsin for the summer.
no, this one is only for warm season turf.
@The Lawn Care Nut
Ok thanks. What can I use on clover 🍀, here in Wisconsin

Crimson and clover.
10 pounds of Dutch white clover seed is $20 and it stays green and feeds the ground and bees. 10 gallons of weed and feed cost $300 and has to be sprayed twice annually. Do the math.
I’m assuming this isn’t the same clover like three leaf clovers.
