When William Shatner mentions that Chris Walken was a tap dancer, I wish someone could have pulled up the video for Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" where the Walken dances solo throughout the entire video. It was a big hit because people were so surprised what a dancer he was.

B: Shatner is right, simpler is better with theater performance. That is why I have never been able to appreciate Shakespeare. Way, way, waaaaay too much fluff and flowers. Way too much work for the audience. But, like with sushi, people look at me like I have 2 heads when I say I don't like it.

The reason the Marx Brothers were funny in their time is that back then, social mores and rules were much stricter, the shaming much more severe about those who transgressed the rules, and class borders were much stronger. The Marx Brothers’ stuff mocked all classes, but especially the snooty upper classes, usually personified by Margaret Dumont, and others. So a lot of what the Marx Brothers - and some others in vaudeville - did in mocking them was shocking and daring in their day. It doesn’t age well because our sensibilities are different now (mostly). When viewed through that lens, they were brilliant.

This one is a bit disappointing, only because I'm halfway through and it seems that they all keep driving past each other and either not understanding or not listening to what the other is saying, or going off on a tangent and never finishing whatever the thought was supposed to be. Shatner's used to interviewing, so it seems like he keeps expressing intense interest in throwaway comments like "I believe in UFOs". The podcast is excellent, from the few I've heard, and they're clearly having fun, I guess that it's different since it's not someone they already know really well,

@@publicmail2 well yeah definitely if it helps him in his grief go for it. It just bothers me the way Hollywood people are always going on and on about therapy. I have many friends that were severely disappointed by therapy, me aswell, it's not this great solution they make it out to be, which is worth throwing thousands of dollars into. It's not this magical amazing thing, it's just some random person with a diploma on their wall pretending to care about your whining for money, it's such bull crap imo

Dissing the Marx Brothers, that is heresey!!! Shatner blew it on that one. The greatest writers of the time Benchley, Shaw, Kaufman . . . wrote for them. Duck Soup is still considered one of the best of all time.

The fact that you guys arent doing video IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! I wont partake till you do. There is ZERO REASON to not be doing video on this podcast. Especially when you are both COMEDIANS, ...who do tons of facial expressions and physicality. Get over yourselves, ...this "audio only" thing is dumb!

Except if Shatner charges more money due to hours of make-up.

William has always been one of my favorites. I wasn’t much of a Star Trek fan but I thought he was one of the handsomest actors out there. I enjoyed the comedic movies he was in. He still looks and sounds fabulous 😏🤫😎
