    YEEEESSSSS! Thank you for adding a wide shot video, can see so many subtle details lost in the close ups now! 🤗

    Thanks it was good to see the choreography without the edits but I pretty much disagreed with those who complained before - dance film making is an art form too and I appreciated the original edited version - it was beautiful to see close ups - I thought it was very well done. I do love the choreography too!

      You can't see the choreography when it's all fast closeups. It's ridiculous. Only non dancers might appreciate constant closeups. In this group JAZZ movement, the guy was far better than the rest and should have done a solo. His forte was JAZZ...the gals..something else...but they weren't performing authentic JAZZ like he was.

      The editing makes it look a lot more synchronized -- I don't know if that's a goal in jazz dance, but I feel like popularly, audiences expect dancers to line up perfectly, and maybe that's why the edits were chosen the way they were.

    3 years later and I feel the same...wish I could edit out the girls as I keep trying to look past them to see the only person giving their entire heart and soul to this interesting piece of choreography. If it's not obvious, you don't know much about dance.

    I am going to have to study this more....the guy is WAY the BEST....perfect timing, dynamics, style....watch him do the sideways sit on the floor and his head goes way back....right on the beat....You can tell the music is running straight through him. The girls are just going through the motions.....with that annoying floppy tails.

      @@kenjoneslee I've watched everyone on here and my eyes still go to her. I love her musicality. She was the only one to hit the last 3 notes with her arm movement.
      I also love the way her arm creates lines during her pirouettes.
      Same goes for the quick right left steps on those two quick beats right before the pre-chorus.

  • @kenjoneslee
    @kenjoneslee Před 4 lety +4

    OK....slow the film down on 1080p......pause whenever the guy strikes a pose and just look around. He's almost always the only one worthy of still shot. Look at when they do a cartwheel type movement to the floor and sit on the floor sideways and scoot backwards. His movement throughout this simple choreography is spot on...at any point you could snap a pic and get something great. The gals are all over the place and a mess.

    • @shaylaminer2329
      @shaylaminer2329 Před 3 lety +3

      I get what your saying, the male dancer is absolutely stunning and is definitely worthy of a perfect shot, but you didn’t have to criticize the female dancers for being “messy” and “all over the place”, they are allowed to have creative freedom with their movements and that’s one of the beautiful things about being a dancer. Yes, it might’ve looked more professional if they had their hair up and were wearing all black or something, but you didn’t have to comment 5 TIMES about what they did wrong. I think they did a wonderful job with the choreography and you can tell these beautiful people were professionally trained just by their technique and the way they hold themselves. Have a wonderful day!

    • @kenjoneslee
      @kenjoneslee Před 3 lety

      @@shaylaminer2329 You are somewhat right. The video is basically a jazz/modern class and not an onstage performance, where if the male had not be front and center, I would have been even more livid.

      @@shaylaminer2329 And just for the record....I once took many college dance classes, over 40 years ago and I'm still dancing.....ON MY OWN at age 60. I dance almost every day.....my message to all dancers/singers/musicians/performers....is if you are NOT fabulous and worthy of the stage...keep doing what you love because you love it. Don't listen to teachers/professors who say quit cause you don't have the necessary talent/body, etc.

      @@kenjoneslee I appreciate your message, I myself am I dancer and I have been since I was seven and it’s one of the most magical things ever and I’m eternally grateful for it. I am still on my dance journey and I love watching others dance so I can find inspiration in them and I can carry specific moves I like into my own dancing. I’m so glad to hear that you are still dancing, even at the age of 60 and I find that truly remarkable and inspiring, keep doing what your doing and take care. 😊

    • @kenjoneslee
      @kenjoneslee Před 3 lety

      @@shaylaminer2329 I always thought and still do that dance is the ideal form of exercise and as such, everyone should learn some basic movement/technique, preferably starting at a young age. It's ideal because it's fun, creative and teaches us how to move our bodies more safely, with better form and alignment. And as we age, dance can easily be adapted for older bodies. At one point, being male, I thought ten years of dance classes had been a total waste. In my 40s, I began to realize how important staying fit was and how my dance training had well prepared me to keep myself fit. I don't need instruction. I don't need a partner. I don't need dumb bells. And I don't need special motivation, because I already love dance, as well as music. I just need space and my body. There are many forms of art all around us. We are all greatly impacted by it. It defines our culture, but more importantly, it enhances our lives, often subconsciously in ways that most people take for granted. This is why it shouldn't matter if an artistically inclined person should make a living or not at their chosen art form. If something enhances your life, makes it more enjoyable, keep doing it. I hope like mine, that your dance journey never ends and that other enhancing journeys also unfold for you.

  • @kenjoneslee

    I have slowed this down to memorize the movement. The girls are all a loose mess with floppy pony tails that make it even messier. Are they ballet/modern dancers trying to do Jazz and can't yet? The sole male, sadly hidden from view way too much, was AMAZING. Every movement he made, in slow speed or up to tempo, was SPOT ON. He should have done this solo.....sorry gals...none of you were up to par. I just get mad cause you are all in the way.

  • @kenjoneslee
    @kenjoneslee Před 4 lety +1

    Yeah...I'm hammering home how female dancers are not always the best in the class. They do not always make the best dancers.

  • @kenjoneslee

    The guy should have been front and center...way the best...had attack, style, form and no floppy pony tail - so annoying. The guy sold the choreography...the girls didn't.
