    What a shame this is not a 7" device :( I like more the "pocketable" size. It looks so cool!

    Love it! Just bad timing, I just moved all my production to ipad pro and plan on replacing my phone with a LEM4 PRO smart watch and cellular enabled ipad mini. no more room in my pocket for pocket PCs. :(

      11 or 12.9 inch iPad pro? I'm thinking about doing the same and using it as my main device.

  • @XSpImmaLion
    @XSpImmaLion Před 5 lety +3

    This is a type of device that I'd really like to see more competition come up to knock out these boutique pricing schemes.
    I'd love to have something like that, but at that price... no way. And I really don't understand the intermixing of low to high end components in products like these. A plain 1080p or even 720p display would've been more than enough.
    But I guess this logic doesn't apply... seems products like these are targetted at other markets.

    Can't wait until you've done a lot of testing and being able to give a nice full review of it. But so far I've looked on the previous versions of the manufacturer, and size and so is really speaking to me. I have a laptop 15",but rarely use it coz of its size etc. This one I think would do fine for me,do normal easier stuff like paying bills,watching movies etc.

  • @mikecane
    @mikecane Před 5 lety

    I was laughing at the price because the Chuwi MiniBook hit IGG today with what looks like a better keyboard layout and I think one more port. But then you mentioned its screen resolution and that shut me up -- because my jaw dropped! Look forward to your review.

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy Před 5 lety

      for me it's exactly the contrary, the keyboard on the Chuwi looks very much like a bigger version of the crappy keyboard on my GPD1, while this looks much better. And the resolution is just stupid. These devices have all short battery life to begin with. Full-HD is more than enough in such a small display, it's hard to tell the difference and this will certainly cut one hour of an already short battery life

      @@_Digitalguy What battery life does your GPD get?

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy Před 5 lety

      @@mikecane when it worked properly, around 3 hours of continuous use, now it's become unreliable and it shuts down even after a short while. This is because GPD put no overcharging protection, so when you leave it plugged in t continues to stress the battery instead of using just the power supply... it's an issue of many chinese laptops that seems to have been corrected in the pocket 2

    • @mikecane

    I am looking forward to your tests of the battery life. Also I would love you to test stand-by time (like if you leave it on stand-by over night, how much will it discharge). I am interesting in upgrading my GPD 1, which I have to say it's a crappy device. So far I have moved to ipad mini 5 with LTE and brydge keyboard. Works great. I would love to have Windows, and the fact that you said that the keyboard is decent is great news, but if battery life is 3 hours like the GPD, no thanks. It's the make or break factor for me... The resolution is just stupid. Full hd is more than enough in such a small display, it's hard to tell the difference anyway and this will certainly cut one hour (or more) of an already short battery life... But some people buy the marketing crap of crazy high PPI so One netbook decided to go with this crap... Another thing that makes me hesitant is the lack of LTE. I love it so much on my mini 5...

    • @mikecane
      @mikecane Před 5 lety

      Ah, so I had to scroll down to see what your GPD battery life is. I didn't know there was a Brydge keyboard for the iPad Mini 5. I'll have to look that up. Thanks.

      Yeah! Battery life is super important for these ultra portable devices...

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy Před 5 lety +1

      @@mikecane it's the same brydge keyboard I had for the mini 4, since they have the same body. It's amazingly good. And it's a "full" keyboard, with all keys in the right place. The GPD1 was horrible. These are better but still have some out of place keys and some missing keys. This can be less of an issue for Americans, but here in Europe the misplaced or missing keys are essential keys (by the way I use stickers to convert the keyboard)

  • @Gadgetmawombo
    @Gadgetmawombo Před 5 lety

    Looks like its in that weird 'middle' zone, where its too small to be a proper laptop but too big to be pocket friendly. I think at this size most people are gonna be needing a laptop bag for it and at that point a standard laptop is gonna be better and cheaper. The original gpd win was the correct size, 3ds size, perfect pocket carry.
