  • Hey everyone! I'm Aja Dang and after an entire year of not doing any monthly budget videos... we're back! This is the first time in a while (maybe even two years) that I'm showing my actual numbers instead of just percentages so y'all as a community need to decide if this is something you're comfortable watching without judgment or if percentages are better for everyone.
    In a nutshell, when I'm depressed I'm lazy and hungry so that accounted for the majority of my spending. Looking forward to the last month of 2022 and definitely looking forward to the new year (yay fresh starts!)

    Love your budgeting videos with real costs. Whoever is uncomfortable needs to find a new budgeting channel or deal with their own feelings as to why they feel uncomfortable in watching videos with higher income spend, now that you are earning more. Do they expect people to just stay the same because it makes them more comfortable? Is crazy an unreasonable.

I hope that you have the support you need during this time. For me, money can bring up emotional and mental stuff but it does pass. I mean, planning for the future... in this economy? Brave. Hope everybody has a lovely day.

    Hi Aja! By far I think this budget video setup is THE BEST!! I can hear your voice much more clearly and I can see your tablet screen better. The music is also really calming too! LOVE THIS. However, I think the feedback about your income being unrealistic is because there's not much transparency around your income streams. When you say you haven't been working for a few months - but you're still making money and can spend comfortably for the month of November, where does it come from??? Could you clarify that a bit? (like talk about sponsorship earnings totals for the year, commercials, CZcams income, your planner business income, etc.) Granted, haters are gonna hate🙄, but for those of us aspiring to become high-income earners - it helps to learn what types of multiple streams of income others have and how they budget their money. I went back to watch the "How I Budget my Paychecks" video, but in it, you only referred to one paycheck. So I was a little confused. Overall, I'm glad you're back to making this type of content again.

    Hey Aja! Any decent mechanic will always tell you to go with Toyota and Honda if you’re looking for a car with longevity. For smaller I’d recommend a Honda Accord or Toyota Corolla, for mid size SUV I’d suggest Toyota RAV4 or Honda CRV. When I’m depressed and can’t be bothered to cook, I try to start buying a lot of “easy food”. Frozen potstickers, frozen pizza, easy to throw together pasta meals, cereal, pop tarts, hello fresh, granola bars, etc. Whatever is “easy food” to you. Maybe not the absolute healthiest food, but it keeps me fed (the most important) and helps prevent me from door dashing a ton of food when I’m too tired or sad to cook. Be kind to yourself, it can be really hard to do normal life functions when your mental health is not great, so even just doing those normal, everyday things are accomplishments.

    • @AjaDang
      @AjaDang  Před rokem

      tho i do think that percentages might be more helpful for some! I think sometimes people can see numbers and feel defeated

    • @sinnamonstory
      @sinnamonstory Před rokem +2

      @@AjaDang definitely but funnily enough to me percentages can be defeating. Someone can make $10k per month and spend $2k per month on rent (20%). For someone making $5k per month to match that same percentage, they’d need to find a place to rent for $1k which can be difficult in some areas. They could be renting for $1.5k which is reasonable for their area but feel defeated because that is 30% of their income.
      Some expenses like housing and food don’t necessarily scale with increases in income and therefore when you are at a lower income your needs are likely going to be a higher percentage of your income. It can be tricky comparing to those with a higher income that can spend higher percentages of their income on wants.
      In short, I believe in either case people can end up feeling defeated comparing themselves to someone with a different financial situation. I like real numbers as a viewer because I get to make my own calculations from it. Of course you are free to do whatever works best for you as a creator 🧡

    I also haven't been saving much in the last 2 years because I've already have my 1yr EF secured (I know it's way over the norm but I also considered the whole household and not just mine now that my dad is retired). Instead, I was more aggressive in my investing because everything went down and I can just buy more stocks, etc. My goal next year is to be strict with my savings in % again because although I feel more comfortable now, I don't really feel wealthier if that even makes sense.

    This is coming from a different perspective but have you experienced guilt with how much money you make? I'm asking because it's something I struggle with all the time. I grew up living on free-school-lunch poor. I've definitely struggled through college and thankfully I have since moved up in income bracket. Even now that I am can live comfortable, there are still somethings I just feel guilty spending so much money on. I am at the point where I am debt-free and have my savings/emergency funds covered but I still am so reluctant/hesitant to spend $400 a month on food. And that's my numbers. I know other people have higher numbers like yours. So how do you do it? Do you have any experience/advice on the topic? Anyone?
