  • Rassie Erasmus has named his Springboks team early. Nothing out of the ordinary then…apart from the fact it’s unchanged.
Something that happens very rarely! What does it tell us?

Winning this is important, but losing to Ireland wouldn’t be a humiliation. They are an excellent team. It’s losing to the AB’s we hate.

We hate losing to Ireland too because stats wise over the last 4 years they're more consistent than he Boks. I see Ireland as up there with NZ competitive wise in recent times. In fact, they're outplayed both NZ and South Africa over the last 4 years except in RWC's.

The depth of the Springboks that are sometimes mentioned dismissively, or referred to as South Africa being lucky to have many players, did not exist before Rassie and Jacques. The mechanisms they put in place, even before they were appointed, are delivering the riches we currently have and will have for the foreseeable future. The same Wales switch-up you refer to was one of the aggressive steps Rassie and his team made to move the player-pool forward. If South Africa could do that after the dark Alistair Coetzee era, any country can. They just need the will to. BTW the Am/De Allende pairing are one game behind the JDV/Jacque Fourie combination while The De Allende/Kriel combination breaks that record this weekend, shedding light on the incredible longevity of Damien De Allende.

@@brettclarke6798 Irish fans don’t have any bad feelings about the WC. We were beaten by the best team ever to grace a rugby field in the Semi Final. We are a tiny nation just like NZ we have spent a short time in professional rugby, but we have now built a rugby platform that much of the world is envious on which we have coaches with the top teams in the world 2 with SA . Our country is still building our rugby future we have been one of the most successful European nations in international rugby we have not won a WC because we have not been good enough yet but our progress in international rugby will continue to grow and hopefully one day we will be good enough to win one and for a tiny nation with a tiny pool of players it would be massive in rugby. I think you’re looking at this through jaundiced eyes it is SAs that continually rub it in other countries faces how great they are and yes they are but like all the great and successful countries Italy Brazil Germany France, SA suffers from a real lack of humility and this is why other nations don’t like them. It’s not your rugby prowess on the field that people hate it’s your continual need to demean other people and their countries, countries that stood strongly with SA during apartheid. So for me it’s learn to win and be humble win or lose.

@@brettclarke6798 the fact that you ignore the help SA received from other countries in the world speaks a lot of your ignorance. Ireland was one of the first countries president Mandela visited after he became president, because of the support and help SA received from Ireland. This shows just how little you know and how little you respect other nations full stop.

I saw the first few comments about using "flex" and and and... from atleast my point of view it's a matter of respect. Think about it, if you are a person that's always wanting to develop and become better, how would you want to develop? face the best of the opponent right? and if you are on the other end and you are not into insulting your opponent you would put forth your best as a sign of respect. It's like saying you you have earned my respect. You have beat me in my favourable place, with the best I have at the time and respect is given where it is due. With that being said whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat's in yooooooooooourrrrr heeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaad, in your heeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaeeeeeaaaaaaaad RASSIE, RASSIE, RASS, EEEEEIII,EEEEE!

Rassie is bedding down this combination using the new attack style. So no changes. Rassie plans to get high percentage win rate between cups this cycle. Definitely going g to win but this one is at a ground where we tend to underperform.

Been down to Durban the last two days. Fairly windy. If it remains that way the kickers may struggle again.
I think the Boks will continue to attack but vary it a bit. Perhaps Pollard will catch the ball on one of his dummy runs or de Allende will not pass this time etc.
I expect them to paint the same picture in the first 10-15 mins if they have enough posession and then suddenly change it up with a few hard runs down the middle.

Alfie, imagine going from a team that had record losses against Ireland, NZ, Italy, wales, England (under coetzee). Seeing how much the Bokke mean to SA. Going from that to winning the World Cup in 2019, beating the BI lions then going and winning the World Cup in 2023 and still hear the world saying Ireland are the best team (yes, it was a prevalent narrative from both Irish and English media). It’s like winning an Olympic gold and being told, na it’s not ur hard work, you were lucky. This is why the Boks have to win this series 2-0. To get some damn respect back from the international non South African world. Make sense? It’s righting a wrong. And it’s putting the Boks in their rightful place in history!

I heard some Irish journalists comment that these tour matches don't matter. But for us it matters. If anyone feels these games don't matter, they have lost touch with the man on the street.
If the boks win, we prove our dominance, and we get the rights to Zombie (Rassie) as our spoils of war.
If Ireland draw the series, they will become the target of every other team as a measuring stick for the North on beating the boks.
