Do you use Engine Ice in your bike?
Yeah, I have engine ice as well as just installed a sprint air filter, hopefully i will get it dyno'd soon ;) love the bike

FWIW I've used Engine Ice since 2018 and have seen zero temp changes good or bad. I continue to use for trackday tech inspection. Water Wetter is another option but offers Zero below freezing protection depending on where you live and how your bike gets stored during winter months. That being said Engine Ice does have freeze protection without gylcol.
Ahh good to know. I live in the southeast and it get both hot and cold, so Engine Ice works for me. I can still go to the track with the proper coolant and have protection from temps.
@@itsmeericb this may be overkill to some and others may do more but when I do a coolant service after draining then removing and rinsing reservoir I do 3 separate full heat cycles till thermostat opens with distilled water only. Let it cool, drain until I've repeated this cycle 3 times. Then I add Engine Ice bring up to temp squeezing coolant lines to work the air out. Top off and done till next time.
You can use tap water as long as you just use it to flush the coolant, says so in the manual, I added a small amount since I ran out of distilled lol
I have an 04 r6. Red. I track it at the poconos in PA. Cant stress this enough, ALWAYS use engine ice. I also have a wrx sti and i use it in the car as well.

Great video and been looking forward to it, as for me I will use Engine Ice but still waiting to be delivered tomorrow.
There is one thing that I noticed and honestly I don’t know if you did it but cut out of the video, is that you after you top up Engine Ice you need to unscrew bolt and let the air come out and after that you close both ends.

Thanks! It will depend on how much your bike takes. I’m not sure if it’s the same for every bike.
How much did it lower the temp? Also, did you not need to make sure all the air was out?
Can’t remember exactly but it didn’t get as hot.
i did a coolant change because i couldnt remove the overflow tank , i siphoned out most of the old fluid from the tank and emptied the reservior. do u think thats fine? i didn't flush, old fluid was green maybe stock, and used engine ice
You should flush to get the old fluid out. That way it doesn’t mix with the new fluid.

Got s stupid question for you, when you have the coolant in the system and without the cap on , would you able to see if the coolant are circulating? The reason I ask is my 17 r6 run very hot and I’m hoping nothing wrong with the pump and maybe the cap are bad ? Thanks
I don’t know if you can run it with the cap off. I am not sure about that one. You may have to refer to Google or take it in to a local shop. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

I don’t know how bad it can be if you don’t flush the system completely before adding new coolant. I’d say you’d probably be fine, but to get the maximum efficiency out of the coolant I’d flush with distilled water next time.
Who did your rims for this bike? Powdercoated yellow or wrapped/decals?
They come factory like that on the 2017 model.

You don’t need a flush just a drain and refill. Filling with engine ice or something else is just asking for problems. If you are sitting in traffic and its heating up that is normal cars do the same thing thats why you have a radiator fan thermostat and water pump to circulate hot fluid to cool to the bike off.
It’s my understanding you have to use something like engine ice or water on the track. Not regular engine coolant. 🤷♂️
@@itsmeericb Not true for a track day. But if you race in a competitive series then yes. Engine ice doesn’t provide any additional protection or performance advantages over standard coolant. It actually provides less lubrication inhibits corrosion faster and freezes easier. Im actually working on a friend’s bike who runs engine ice and is having over heating issues the first question i asked was did you switch the coolant out or replace it with anything other then factory coolant. Sure enough that was the issue besides it turns to mud after a year inside the bike.
@@Unique377 noticed one thing a full system drain/flush will require you to remove the lower coolant hose as well and of course theres the proper way to fill up and allow the air in the system to escape by starting the bike and allowing the fluid to circulate while topping off the radiator, this is usually why the bike overheats theres still air in the system.
@@itsmeericb You don’t track your bike and I can tell. Your tires do not look like a ball of yarn and there is not melted rubber stuck to your fairings. Track organization generally do not check if your bike is filled with water or trash engine ice. Now if your were running in some novice racing organization then yes the bike has to be fully inspected to include all the fairing to be pulled off to check for safety wire mechanical safety and correct fluids just to name a few things. You are simply a street rider regular coolant is fine for your application and you didn’t even drain and flush the system correctly but its your bike so engine ice it away! It will just lead to problems down the road just watch.
@@asherraphael5949 Its nearly impossible to get all the old coolant out because the bike has a water jacket around the cylinders. Only true way is to drain flush and refill several times.
Engine ice oh please that stuff doesn’t work.
