You always inspire me to get out in the garden. Yesterday before it rained, I cut back perennials and pulled spent annuals. It's so rewarding to see a tidier space.
Every time I see you bend or squat down to plant your flowers I think, I remember when I use to be able to do that. Well, I might be able to kneel down but I will need help standing back up. LOL. It is not fun getting older. 😆
Injured my knee recently and I thought the same thing! It's so discouraging looking at the weeds building up. I've got plenty of energy and want to tackle it but I know I"ll be crawling around forever and pay for it once I try to get up. That old commercial "I've fallen and can't get up!" comes to mind. I remember laughing at that all the time. No laughing matter now that I'm old.
that idea of a holding bed.....genius! Thank you I can really see the benefit of that. Sometimes i see a great clearance buy but I have no designated spot.I am gonna use this idea!! THANKS!!
I've a "Dump area" too, that's turned into a garden. I enjoy growing different types of Hostas as they're so easy to divide and give to my neighbours. My front garden I call "The circle of confusion. " I put plants I've potted up or seedlings there as I can just pop out the front door and check on them rather than go all the way around to a back area . Many times I end up just planting them where they sit if it's getting near the end of summer. I find your video very inspiring, and look forward to watching your gardens grow.
We call the Dump Bed here The Waiting Room 😂 Really enjoyed your video today it’s a pleasure to watch someone else working in the garden and get inspiration.
Hi Jes, always love it when you work in the gully garden I love that garden 🌾🌿🌺 😊 watching you split your plants has made me not afraid to do that to mine. Thanks Jes, for teaching us so much ❤️ you are definitely an inspiration ❤️ thank you for the music love that 😊😊 you have a wonderful evening or at least that's when I was watching this video. ❤ God's blessings 😊❤😊❤😊
I started a rescue bed this year too. I had 2 giant trees removed last season and the remaining plants were in way too much sun so I moved them and they are doing fine. Next season will be a true test to see if I have to move anything else. I did lose a stain glass hosta last season. Such a beautiful hosta. May get another one next year. I learn so much from watching your fun videos. Thank you my friend
Now you have made some room for the upcoming season sale!! Near your water hose take a couple of smaller terra cotta pots (7") and a stake/piece of rebar place the pots bottom to bottom and place the stake in the hole. will help guide your hose. place in various areas of your garden. Plastic ones may work just as well, you could adhere small pebbles or bark to them to make them look more organic. 💖💖🎶🎶
As always I enjoyed your video. As one lady stated you could add caladiums for color. I have a large bed of them I cut them back each down to the grown before the frost and they come back beautifully 😊
The new plants look great. Your dump garden makes a lot of sense if you don’t know what to do with a plant or you get new plants and not sure where you want to plant them. The plant is growing and looking good by the time you need it in one of your garden beds. Great idea.
I totally agree - it takes a lot of trial and error to figure out the best home for plants. I've certainly made my share of errors along the way. I get so much satisfaction from splitting -plants to spread the love. Your garden is so soothing. Love it!
Your gully has sparked an interest in me, I'm turning the are behind my Koi pond into a beautiful shade garden. Decades ago when HGTV actually had several nice garden shows, one was, Gardening by the yard, he had a save bed, he called it the nursery.
Girl friend you and your garden are absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous property with all of us. Everytime I watch one of your movies I learn something new. Can't wait for my shade garden to develop into what your's has become. I'm waiting for the F word to get here so I can clear out my back wood's. Way to Hot to try right now. I'm in SC it's 93 degrees with the heat index of 105 . Enjoy your day 🪴🤗🪴💓💕💞
Very nice! I love the brunneras :) the astilbe dark side of the moon may like your wet soil there and bring some purple color! But i do love the brunneras and see that you have a red ligularia foliage behind which is going to be so pretty too! 😊
Love your videos!!!!! Thank you!!! A funny…..last week you mentioned snakes and I walked out yesterday to have one staring at me!!!! A good reminder not to pull weeds from under shrubs without gloves!!! 😳😍
Great job Jess.. love what you did in this video..want u to know how much your movies mean to me..I literally look forward to watching them at the end of every day which can b pretty stressful a lot of the time so thank you for sharing your gardening wisdom and also your beautiful singing and guitar talents..love your voice❤so pretty and soothing to listen to..I'm fairly new to your channel and am hooked..lol..totally inspires me to get out in my own garden as well...especially to do some transplanting and moving things around..truly you are the Transplanting Queen!👑 Anyway...ty again and God bless
It does encourage me to go move some plants ! I love the what you did. The silver Brunnera at $2 a piece was a frikken steal 😅 They look awesome where u have placed them with the green Hosta. Love your eye for colours and where to place things . Helping me so much. 🌿🌿🌿
Jes, I worry about you digging and doing gardening chores in flip flops. I sprained my ankle digging a clump of ornamental grass up to divide it. I ended up with a stress fracture and torn ligaments. I am older than you but I urge you to take care now so you don't regret it later. I enjoy your videos!
When you were digging up the large hellebore the hosta in the frame to the left (I think Sum and Substance) looked as tall as you. I know it’s a big one but that angle made it look even bigger I think. That pathway is so inviting!
I love brunnera I have never seen that variety I’ll have to see if I can get some I just love it! I’m like you I’m not afraid to move things around. If something is no doing well I’ll move it to a different spot. Best part about gardening is that it is ever changing❣️
I just love how you split plants. You’ve taught me that but my plants don’t grow under my trees like yours. There’s a lot of roots under maple trees. It’s hard to plant.
I need to learn about how to care for brunnera. I bought one this year and with in two /3 weeks was dead 😢and they are not cheap where I live. I love that they are so happy in your garden.❤
I am starting a rose garden and I had 18 hostas that were gifted to me 3 years ago that I transferred to a more shaded area. After I split them I ended up with close to 100. Some of them are struggling but I think they will be fine and come back strong next year.
Coleus might be a good choice to bring some color into your Hosta Garden or Caladiums but I’m not sure if they would like the moist area , I love 💕 Coleus
Hi Jes! I'm new here and I'm so happy to have found your channel! ❤ My question is: in what zone is your beautiful garden, and do you water your hostas and other shade garden plants manually or by watering system installed at the base of the plants? Thank you!
Have you tried the Colorblaze Wicked Hot Coleus or the Newly Noir coleus Jes? I think they would look so pretty with the hostas where you are wanting that dark foliage. I have planted them in full shade and part sun and they have done great! 😊
I for some odd reason can not grow Jacobs ladder. I love how you move thing’s around! I have raised bed where I plant bear root plants and then move to the garden the next year. I think I am getting to the point where I won’t need to purchase more plants. 😭
Do the raccoons ever dig up your plants when you use the fertilizer? When I use biotone when planting I can usually plan on having to replant the next day🥴. Absolutely love your gardens!
I would be hesitant to transplant anything in my garden during this August heat and high humidity. I usually wait until autumn. Perhaps your shade, temps and less humidity make a difference in what you can do in your garden. Just wondering...
I always wear flip flops (sandals) when I garden (I hate to be hot) however if I am digging I do switch to my sneakers. I don’t know if it matters but my Sandals are made by Clark’s and have arch support. But you are right they are not the best for the feet. I love your videos Jes! ❤️❤️❤️

Jes - the transplant Queen 👸🏼. I’m always sad when your videos end - I could watch you for hours 🥰

Your dump bed is about as big as my whole garden 😉😃😂😃😄
Haha same here 😅
I really love that shade of hosta and that shade of brunnera together ... good call!
We call the Dump Bed here The Waiting Room 😂 Really enjoyed your video today it’s a pleasure to watch someone else working in the garden and get inspiration.
We call it the holding tank. And the place where I put.my.not so hot flowera. The planthospital😀
Love "The Waiting Room"!

Enjoyed watching you divide and plant again with your singing.

your encouragement is well received, thanks
That hellebora was huge.😍
That Brunnera variety is stunning. I haven’t seen it locally. Also love the stained glass hosta. Beautiful contrast 🤩.
Love your videos!!!!! Thank you!!! A funny…..last week you mentioned snakes and I walked out yesterday to have one staring at me!!!! A good reminder not to pull weeds from under shrubs without gloves!!! 😳😍
Oh hon, just now found your channel. I subscribed 3 minutes into your video. Love you way you garden. You have beautiful flower gardens😊
Everything looks great! Expanding my shade garden area on side of my front yard. Looking for more Brunner, hostas and Cora bells.
There is also a hellebore peeking out from under the hosta behind the first hellabore you pointed at. Would be a good choice to pull that one
You are so right, just take chances in the garden.

I also wanted to say if you make stepping stones I would love it if you could share that with us.
You have a gorgeous garden thank you for sharing it
I transplanted a couple hostas into the sun too. They are turning yellow but I want to give them some time to see if they adjust.
Beautiful plants, but I think you need a Hoselink for your gully garden.
It does encourage me to go move some plants ! I love the what you did. The silver Brunnera at $2 a piece was a frikken steal 😅 They look awesome where u have placed them with the green Hosta. Love your eye for colours and where to place things . Helping me so much. 🌿🌿🌿
Wow $2 was a super deal !! She is a good bargain hunter !
So peaceful
Your just awesome girl!

Beautiful
Looks beautiful!😍
Its a brave new world in Jes's garden! You have many more successes than failures. Thank you for the encouragement!

I get so much information from seeing what grows where in your garden. Thanks Jess
I just love how you split plants. You’ve taught me that but my plants don’t grow under my trees like yours. There’s a lot of roots under maple trees. It’s hard to plant.

Chipmunk sighting @ 6:05 😮 🐿️
You do a great job with your garden.
So here it's coral bed. Sun bed. Woodland. But some coral bells. Hosta great. So shade is woodland.
Wonderful Jes🌺. Nice work . I love your arrangement of plants in the garden also color matching .Have alovely day .🌻🌺🌻

Excellent.

I always love seeing your process in the garden. What is the name of the hydrangea in the dump bed?
Have you tried the Colorblaze Wicked Hot Coleus or the Newly Noir coleus Jes? I think they would look so pretty with the hostas where you are wanting that dark foliage. I have planted them in full shade and part sun and they have done great! 😊
Enjoyed
I wish I could grow Brunnera here, but it's too hot in my Texas zone 9 garden.
Thank you Jes. Do your sun loving rescue plants go into the dump garden to ? 🌺💚🙃
I for some odd reason can not grow Jacobs ladder. I love how you move thing’s around! I have raised bed where I plant bear root plants and then move to the garden the next year. I think I am getting to the point where I won’t need to purchase more plants. 😭
Do you ever get to the point where you don’t need to buy more plants? Lol
@@PaulaSwann501 I don't ever want to stop buying plants but I have so many gardens I just can't add more. Wish I could!!
Maybe Caladiums for color?
Hi Jes. What are the beautiful two tone hostas by your bird bath? Thanks
What zone are you in. Loving your gardens.
Good work but you need a pair of boots 😅
Do the raccoons ever dig up your plants when you use the fertilizer? When I use biotone when planting I can usually plan on having to replant the next day🥴. Absolutely love your gardens!

Jes, you must be a Virgo!!!❤
Hey, Jes!🤗 Did you build up the soil around that tree for your dump bed?
I have a Hellebore flowering for weeks now in my garden , it did not flower in Spring , does that happen some times ?
I think your hose is leakier than mine!
Do you get any damage for slugs and snails?
I forgot to ask you - what is the name of your Hellebore plant that you split?
🐌🐌🐌
Be careful you had your foot by poison ivy wear shoes
Jes, you ever hurt your feet wearing flip-flop to dig. I cringe ever time I see you do this please wear good shoes when dig
I too cringe when she is digging while wearing flip flops. They are SO bad for your feet.
I always wear flip flops (sandals) when I garden (I hate to be hot) however if I am digging I do switch to my sneakers. I don’t know if it matters but my Sandals are made by Clark’s and have arch support. But you are right they are not the best for the feet. I love your videos Jes! ❤️❤️❤️
Every time I see you bend or squat down to plant your flowers I think, I remember when I use to be able to do that. Well, I might be able to kneel down but I will need help standing back up. LOL. The knees are not what they use to be!
Your feet are going to hurt when you get 50😢
