The following is a hopeful lady relating how she brings home her inebriated date.
A lady doesn’t expect a man to pick up every check. I really enjoyed dinner, and Jerry could be categorized as ‘plastered’, so I lay down my credit card.
The alcohol has been free flowing. Only when I sign my name do I realize how large a tab we ran up. Next time we’ll drink at home.
Wait. Did I just say ‘next time’? And did I say ‘we’? Did I say ‘home’? Whose home? His? Mine? Ours?
I call an Uber and type in my address. I take Jerry by the hand (the first time we hold hands!) and lead him to the curb. It’s a real challenge not to run my fingers over his chest. Luckily, the car arrives. I ease Jerry into the small sedan and cuddle up shoulder to shoulder.
On the ride back, half the houses have Christmas lights and the other half doesn’t. That’s okay with me, because it’s only halfway to Christmas.
The car rolls up to my front door. There is nothing glamorous about getting Jerry out of the car. If I were speaking charitably, I would say that I ‘led’ him up the stairs to my place. If I were being less than charitable, I would say I had to drag him.
Jerry is having a rough time. I can only understand every third word he says. Something about forgetting to nourish himself. I catch him mouthing the words ‘overdoing it’.
