  • Kätchen Emma Sophie Schmidt , also known as Kitty Schmidt, was born on the 25th of June 1882 in Hamburg, then part of the German Empire. As a young woman Kitty went to England to work as a piano teacher and whilst there she met a Spanish consul named Zammit whom she married but who later shot himself. After the suicide of her husband, she remained in the UK and in October 1906 her illegitimate daughter Kathleen was born in Cardiff. When the First World War ended on 11 November 1918 Schmidt moved with her daughter to Berlin and in 1922 opened her first commercial "salon". The main purpose of her newly opened business venture was to provide companionship and intimacy to its clients.
On 30 January 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany by President Paul von Hindenburg. Soon after their assumption of power, the Nazi leaders began to make good on their pledge to persecute German Jews.

Another very insightful video. I have watched several videos, but your video is the first i have seen with high-quality photos of Kitty herself. Keep doing what you are doing as the more we know about the true depravity of the Nazis the better.

I would like you HW, to tell the story of Johann Reichhart (1893 - 1972), the state-appointed executioner who executed the Scholl's.

Great Episode, I always enjoy and learn from these episodes. What is happening in the US at the moment on abortion sounds like the NAZI's behaviour. It is a worry. But one error I think? You said at 10:30 in, that the brothel was converted to a guest house for migrants by her grandson and had to close in 1922. Do you mean 2022?

Nazis are pure evil, while most commies tend to be victims of their own system or dictators. Nazi idealogy is inherently down to its roots about extermination of those deemed lesser. Remember, the nazis were so bad that the Russians fought hard for Stalin because even Stalin was better than what the nazis had in store for the Russians.
