    Hello!
    Thank you for your words about the Portuguese song brilliantly performed by Iolanda.
    Everyone can be sure that this wonderful team around her will continue to surprise in Malmö.
    I also agree with you regarding Australia, Serbia and Moldova, 3 different genres of entry but
    each of them with a rich, punctual and even folkloric message.
    I always value these ones more than the average techno Pop songs.
    Greetings from Porto, Portugal.

    I would love to hear your thoughts about why Latvia did so well. You seem to be quite precise in your predictions and even you didn't see it in the grand final. It was third on my top 10 but I'm old, odd, and boring (although Croatia and Norway were my number 1 and 2) and I am absolutely out of touch with current trends and stuff. But you have some really interesting insights so if you can find a minute to answer, I'd really appreciate it. If not, no hard feelings - I've subscribed to your channel and hope to be ready next year to dive into the ESC madness from the beginning (I usually fail to because I'm too old and boring 😂) but I've loved the show since before most of this year's contestants were born :)

    I would have thought Luxembourg is a clear dark horse. Maybe that's my bias as it's one of my favorites this year, but it's a classic Eurovision style song with a pretty great melody from a returning country. If the live vocals are good anyway.
    Also, I don't think any odds would put any songs in the final order after voting. It's exclusively likelihood that they'd win. That would put countries that would be top five or ten but never higher really far down in the odds. I'd say like... Lithuania. I haven't looked at the odds, but I'd imagine that that one is really far down despite being decently liked by people.

      @ZakhadWOW Před 2 měsíci +1

      Tali, given her now well-publicized close personal links to someone in the IDF, may well end up catching some of the harsh backlash against Israel actually being present. Like it or not, agree or not, it is a blunt reality that will not be ignored. Frankly, having fairly well-known Zionist Israeli organizers running the Luxembourg program has really left a sour taste in many folks' mouths. Sigh.. It is an excellent song, and her perfect flow in the rapid French is amazing. But the timing.... heavy sigh.

    • @Ninterd2
      @Ninterd2 Před 2 měsíci

      @ZakhadWOW I am trying to be somewhat cautious though, I don't want to fall in an antisemitic trap by judging the production too much. She also isn't her brother. But what I honestly think is that Israel will do poorly because they're Israel. I don't necessarily think her being Israeli will be as noted by people.

    the other Moldovan Natalia, of the YUUROOPP and now-record length high note, didnt bring the craziness of her music video, but what she DID bring, along with the slick dancing of her boys, showed that even in THAT case Moldova shocked the crap out of everyone. THe one true let down was 2019, when they copied the lame sand art from the previosu decade or whatever. But, hey, everyone gonna have an off year now and then!

      No no....they will qualify! There are 5 country's in semi 1 that have given Australia no less than 6 points over the last 9 years. This is also indicative of the public vote. They will breeze through.

    In the worst case scenario, Serbia will only finish 15th to 18th, which wouldn't be bad in the end, but I'm convinced that a top 10 result awaits us because many people have serbia in their top 10, which is a good sign. And if the fans don't vote for teya then the serbian diaspora will. Konstrakta and hurricane are good examples of how far serbia can only get with the support of the televote

    Maybe it is time to define the definition of a 'dark horse'. I think these are songs, who are not highly accessible, may surprise you. With Moldova I agree but with Greece and Serbia? After DORA I still think Slovenia will do great. It is the year of the performance.

    @florenna Před 2 měsíci +5

    IMO, entries like Serbia or Portugal are already very, VERY over-hyped by fandom (as is evident from comments here, too!), so the term "dark horse" *doesn't* really fit them, as it means entries that may do better than expexted - the expectation is already sky-high by many, it seems... The only term that would fit these is "flopping fan favorite", if they won't do well, after all these expectations. The one that actually *could* fit the term that comes to my mind, but sadly omitted here, is Finland, as it's so very overlooked, even looked down on, by fandom. (And now just wait nasty comments to me below about how "bad" it is in their opinion, I'm sure, but who cares. ;)) OTOH, Moldova and Australia are probably not even getting to the final, so I find it very hard to believe they could be "dark horses"....

      @@elvinam888 The opinion of the majority of reactions is very positive. However, when they do vote simulations, Portugal almost disappears. Salvador Sobral was right. Most of the songs are fireworks, deja vu and a circus atmosphere. Not to mention the lobies in the vote: Nordics vote for Nordics; Balts in the Balts; Greece and Cyprus exchange 12 points! For me, Portugal should rethink future participation, as other countries have done. In fact as the majority of Portuguese defend. They give little importance to the Eurofestival. But don't get a bad impression of the Portuguese; We are Latin and more temperamental. Nothing personal. Good luck.
