What a challenging and powerful message! Such a careful but bold stand on a controversial topic in the church today. I think Pastor Craig's interpretation is right. God does love us and He is good but he does not promise to always give us what we want because he has an even better promise for us! Eternal life with Him!

THANK YOU pastor Craig! This was an amazing message and many churches in the US believe that God is for you, God is on your side and they only focus on that. -- God is here to make your life better -- it makes me cringe every time I hear that from a platform. Thank you for sharing this message.

Finally!!! It's so true, this scripture has been misused as a encouragement scripture (and it is), but in context, it gives us a better picture, thanks for preaching this Pastor Craig

I enjoyed this series very much. I have heard many good things about this church. Is there resources to print off sermon notes for each video? I was curious. Thanks for any info you can provide

Hmm. I have a hard time with understanding trials and Gods Will. Ive suffered years with problem and have put off what Earthly help there is for God's healing. Ive heard what people have said, read all those books of hope with verses that turn out to have different meanings. Ive told others that there are others in the world that are worst off than me but I would like just a something to grab and hold to, something or pure joy to let me know its alright. I feel myself slipping more and more.

+Trey Ahzze I will pray for you. I to struggle to understand. Pain and suffering are constant reminders of our need to trust God in ALL things. I cannot find any scripture that promises we will be free from pain and suffering while in this life. This life on earth.
What I do know from the scriptures is what I hope will encourage you. God's plan is to *CONFORM US INTO HIS IMAGE* Rom 8:29 This work is being done (presently) and is ongoing. God wants to convert our hearts and minds into His very image. Conversion is a life time process. If we are to be just like Christ then trials and tribulations are a huge part of the process. Here are some scriptures that confirm this. These are for the *believer* *2Cor8:2* Heb 11:36* *1Peter 1:4&7* Our trials. The word *tribulation is used 22x in the NT and 16x refers to the believer* There is MUCH TO OVERCOME to be like Christ. Ruling and reigning with Christ has everything to do with enduring to the end and overcoming the world just as Christ overcame. Rev 3:21
But the results of all of this pain and trials and tribulations are also a guarantee from God. These are the fruits of the spirit of God. These are virtues of character, the character of Christ. This is what Paul says of his own journey in all of Philippians chapter 3.
There is a very popular false doctrine in the church that teaches Christ suffered so I do not have to. It is a lie indeed. That all I need to do is confess my way out of trials and dangers and sufferings. Again not true. Jesus made it very clear that in order to be *his disciple* we must *follow in His steps* We take up and bear our cross. Luke14:27
You recognized that others have it worse then yourself. But that does not lessen your situation of suffering either. Be encouraged that God will not ever leave or forsake you ever!! That He will finish the work He has begun in you. God will strengthen you and His grace will be enough always to see you through every trial. May these scriptures bring you much comfort today from *Romans **8:35** " Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? *2Cor1:4 "Who (God) comforts us in ALL OUR TRIBULATION that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort (God's comfort) wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God* I wish there was a magic eraser to end of your suffering that you are enduring at this time. But remember that this to is for a season and it will come to an end when God ends it.

      truthseeker
sorry didnt get back to you and thanks you for the words of encouragement. I understand that in this world we will have our troubles, its part of normal living. But I hear from others and pastors that I need to pray for healing and it SHALL BE DONE. But then I say according to God's Will. I'm still working my way thru and still praying.

Thanks for sharing man. No one gets through this life without falling. You putting off what you call "earthly help" and waiting for God to heal you I can tell probably comes from a perspective of you thinking that you dont have enough faith in God if you seek help from people. This is a false belief that many people have and is actually a reason why some people deny medical treatment for their loved ones in hopes that God will supernaturally heal them.
A verse to give you proof that you SHOULD seek help (counselor, friend, group, etc.) comes from the book of James. "If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, be warmed and filled,' without giving the the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself if it does not have works is dead." James 2:15-17
I suggest reading context since thats what this whole series is about haha but the point is We are called to help people and have a LIVING and ACTIVE faith. We are also called to bear one anothers burdens (Galatians 6).
So get the help you need my man! We arent meant to walk through this life alone. God hears your call and I know from personal experience he will do something amazing within you through this trial that you are going through.
      May the Lord bless you.

I think this is the only sermon from Twisted that I disagree with. The notion that the Bible has promises that don't apply to us today is false. The pastor is interpreting the verse as if saying "plans to prosper" means everything will be perfect all the time. That is a flesh-centered way to interpret this verse. The verse's meaning is that God has plans for every single believer to prosper. That does not mean we will never face challenges. Elsewhere in the Bible, it says all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. To say that Jeremiah 29:11 only applies to the Israelites back then is a complete misread and really shows a lapse in judgment for what the Bible is. It is the history of humanity and the guidance for how to live life as believers. Every promise contained in the Bible is available for believers. I think whoever watches this must really have discernment to know that this sermon was not sound.

Arielle-Cherie Paterson there are a lot of verses that don't directly apply to us. That doesn't mean we can't learn from them. But the kingdom of Israel is not literally promised to us. Not literally. But there is the promise of the kingdom of God that is here as in heaven right now, and the full manifestation of it is coming when he returns.
