Notable Words Played in Game 8:
MIGRAINE [80 pts] (noun) - a condition marked by recurring moderate to severe headache with throbbing pain that usually lasts from four hours to three days, typically begins on one side of the head but may spread to both sides, is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light or sound, and is sometimes preceded by an aura and is often followed by fatigue
THEW [38 pts] (noun) - (chiefly literary) muscular power or development; strength, vitality [from Old English]
DURIONS [74 pts] (noun) - plural of "durion," a variant spelling of "durian"; the large oval or globose fruit of a tree (Durio zibethinus) of the East Indian islands having a hard prickly rind, a soft cream-colored pulp, a most delicious flavor, an offensive odor, and seeds that are roasted and eaten like chestnuts [from Malay]
PEDLARS [70 pts] (noun) - plural of "pedlar," a British variant spelling of "peddler"; one that offers merchandise (as fruits or vegetables) for sale along the street or from door to door usually carrying his goods in a pushcart, wagon, or truck as distinguished from a canvasser who takes orders for future delivery
NOVATE [35 pts] (transitive verb) - (legal) to replace (an old obligation) by a new obligation [from Latin]
DJINS [63 pts] (noun) - plural of "djin," a variant spelling of "jinn," one of a class of beneficent or malevolent spirits that according to Muslim demonology inhabit the earth, are capable of assuming various forms, and exercise supernatural power [from Arabic]
Mack I'm so glad you keep playing on, I would have quit long ago! These draws are ridiculous.
Haha at least if I keep drawing like this against BestBot then I'll draw well at nationals this summer since luck has to even out somewhere... right?
@@mackmeller 300 point triple triples and RETINAS every turn at nationals maybe
@@mackmeller At least when you’re playing live your opponent doesn’t get to look into the bag every turn and choose what they want, like a kid in.a candy store.
@@Jkfgjfgjfkjgbestbot doesn’t do that, it gets random draws just like a human would
@@Jkfgjfgjfkjg didn't i goddamn explain several times that it doesn't do this?
Tough games so far, but your analysis is solid. Keep fighting, Mack!
Thanks so much, appreciate it!
LEA also allows the possibility of INJERA/INJERAS which would be pretty sick. Also I think the GI/ID fish is it still trying for INJERAS. Just needs 1 of 3 Es. Greedy lol.
LEA also sets up 6J JAR for 42
funny enough, I saw ADVENT immediately and missed VEENA and NOVATE 😂
That might be the worst miss I’ve seen from him espically cause he thought about sooo much
6:00 that's an even better spot for ZA(I)DA, if it hadn't been blocked.
Good point! Let's hope I'd have seen it if it stayed open hahaha
Surely OT is better than E when the bag was that vowel heavy😢😢
Oh No! Another well-played game but bad tiles at the end cost you! Here is my macondo analysis:
Macondo prefers an opening move of 8G DUCI (52.8%) or 8G CUD (52.7%) instead of 8D CACTI (51.5%)
I don't agree with this but M1 JUD(Y) sims at 37.9% versus 37.1% exch DJUUVW. (I would imagine the bot is worse at evaluating this type of play.)
2L WIZ (60.2%) is perhaps the only clear mistake rather than ZAIDA (62.8%).
D8 ABOA(R)D sims 2nd (49.6%) behind D(U)AD at 50.6%
Lastly the NOVATE play. NOVATE on 9-ply sims 5th without inference at 26.8% behind 8K (D)OVEN at 30.2% followed by 8K (D)EVON (29.2%), 6H (C)OVEN (27.9%), and 1H VEENA (27.8%). However, simming 9-ply with inference had NOVATE recommended 1st at 32.7% above VEENA (32.0%), (C)OVEN (31.8%) and (D)OVEN (31.4%).
Finally, simming with perfect rack knowledge has only (D)EAVE simming at above 3% (10.0%), and simming with perfect inference has 8K (D)OVEN win with 18.0%. Unfortunately, after your terrible EILOOU draw, you had no chances left in the pre-endgame.
Come on Mack! I need a win out of you! Let's gooooo!
I'm trying!!!
@@mackmeller If someone finds "serjeanty" on a triple word and STILL loses, you know luck just isn't on his side! But I'm betting on you for the next one!
ADVENT keeping OE is probably fine because the NT in advent will at least give you 1 consonant for 8's?
You're really likely to draw an I after NOVATE. You have JERID for a ton of points if you draw the J and one of the 3 Is after that 6 tile draw-- seems like a no-brainer
Ah good point, I didn't notice the JERID possibility -- given I'm banking on needing the J to win anyway that definitely makes NOVATE look better
@@mackmeller Yeah I don't like ADVENT either, EO is an awful leave with that pull. The A opening for AWOKE is also somewhat redundant with the opening in 15A hooking FA, the only (and probably very relevant) difference being the length of the word required to hit it.
Also, I'd love to hear your take on VO(R)TEX in row 10 on the OX turn. Creates a dangerous floating E but cleans up the rack much better. The drawbacks of -18 points AND the bot's potential to kill all bingo lines if it plays through the E or the X are too heavy I would assume.
The bot almost always leaves 1+ in the bag. He played Gi and Id to create a tough choice for Mack. Does the bot factor in time pressure?
The bot definitely doesn’t factor in any kind of time pressure when deciding plays
You should have been psychic and known you were going to draw DFN? keeping AAO edit: apparently there's no bingos in ?DFNAAO
Apparently there is only one 8 in ??DFNAAO!
