I don’t know that Chef realizes it; but, he is one of the best things that could ever happen for good mental health. I don’t care what he’s making, every time I see his videos it makes me happy.
I could say the same thing
I agree 100% and told him the same thing maybe 2 years ago when I was first dealing with depression.
Chef makes me happy and always puts a smile on my face.
@Chester Dougherty it has the added bonus of learning dishes and cooking, which for me brings me out of a funk, and having other people enjoy what I've cooked is just the icing on the cake.
Agreed 🤗
Well said Rich! Chef helped so many of us through the pandemic while upping our game in the kitchen for good!
I have refrained from tuning into any News outlet since finding this channel. I have been pasted to THE CHEF close to 2 1/2 years and my life and (Blood pressure) has improved tremendously. I even plug him in through the truck radio which makes times in traffic a non-issue. Thank you CHEF!!!!!!!
Wished I'd known of him that long 2:13 I just plugged in last week, I have watched 15+ videos, took lots of notes❤
I have enormous respect for a mother who can feed five children on a shoestring budget. She used what she had, and made it the best she could; that's a mom for you. Rest in Paradise to your mother.
My ex-husband said he didn't like spinach, when our children were small I wanted them to experience a variety of vegetable, so I use to remove the stems of spinach then add it to the lettuce for a salad. My ex-husband never knew there was spinach in his salad. I noticed when I didn't add the spinach, our children would say the salad wasn't as good.
mothers are holy women at least the good mothers there are bad mothers as well.
This chef is like a sunshine, boosts up your energy 😊 Has a sweet way of explaining things ❤
Thank you 🙏❤️
The chef keeps me in the kitchen. My wife loves it. Thanks chef, I’ve learned so much.
Good for you Ray, what a lucky wife 😉
of course, she loves it... she doesn't have to stay in the kitchen and cook
So, who keeps you in the bedroom 😂?
@@onesri6108 i am sure he gets time in bed in exchange. Well done and well deserved...
Ikr? It’s made cooking 🧑🍳 at home so enjoyable and successful as everybody loves it! I’m not sure about the Creamed Spinach but I’ll give it a go! 🤗
I never took time to watch cooking videos until I discovered this channel. Chef's love of cooking really comes through in the videos and reminds me of all the times I spent with my grandmother when she was teaching me to cook. Chef Jean Pierre's videos are truly inspiring. Channels like this along with his web site are what make the Internet great.
Sups
So true. 👍
Thank you so much Chef Jean Pierre. I have kidney disease and I cannot eat spinach. Your story about your mother making creamed spinach with lettuce gives me a way to still enjoy something that tastes like creamed spinach without all the oxalic acid. Thank you kind sir.
Chef every time I watch your show, I feel so happy. You shine.
I grew up eating my grandmother's wilted lettuce made the way your mother made her creamed spinach my grandmother has long been gone, but, she was raised by her grandmother, who was from France. I have missed it so much but now I'm going to make it!!! Thank You Chef for bringing my grandmother and a piece of my childhood back to me.
Really! That is fascinating and so curious. I am intrigued by this lettuce creamed dish !!
That's so old-school I've got to love it. Why throw those outside lettuce leaves in the compost pile just because they are tough and ugly and no good for a salad. Do this!
E2
Chef Jean Pierre is a joy to watch, listen to, and learn from. Thank you for your inspiring approach to the food, the kitchen, life…and yes to BUTTER !
There should be more people like Chef Jean Pierre in the world ! He is AMAZING ❤
If l could cook like Chef Jean, l would weigh 500 pounds! lol
z.7ý1ĺ
The stories about his mom are always so heart warming. Thanks chef for sharing with us!
Kudos to Chef's mom for making a delicious dish out of lettuce leaves that most people throw out, but I don't understand how saving a few centimes by not buying spinach helped her budget if she put this much cheese in it. 🤔🤔🤔
Having a bad Monday? Just wait for Chef JP’s new video to drop. Works every time!
🙏🙏🙏❤️
So true! Chef instantly brightens my day and gives me ideas for dinner I'd forgotten about. Love this guy.
I thought you said, Having a bad memory? Had to do a double take🤣
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Yep!
@@ChefJeanPierre True, you are far more than cooking channel! Thanks
Your Mother did a phenomenal job! We love you Chef!
Chef Jean is so amazing and funny..i like the fact that he's not shy to share his poor childhood story❤
Chef Jean Pierre always makes me smile. That in itself is priceless, and I think it's safe to say that he provides so much value to others as well. I love you chef, thank you!!!
This man is more valuable to me than anyone. I am old i dont cook ,he makes me feel joy for life. God Bless this man
Love the creamed lettuce story from your childhood! ❤❤👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I wait for it every time...the chef is surprised the food is hot. Gotta love this guy. CJP you are the best. Thank you for teaching me so much. I cannot watch any one cooking when they dump all the peppers and ONION in to cook at the same time. You have taught me well. Thank you!!! Have a great day sir!!!
Not only do you know Cooking, Chef, but you deliver your expertise with humor which makes your shows entertaining as well as fascinating to watch because one learns so much about cooking. Thank you for all you do!
What a nice story about his mother. Mum’s are creative.
I just told my husband that I wanted to make creamed spinach tonight and this just dropped :) thank you Chef!!!!
Funny, I said the same thing to my wife yesterday :)
It turned out so good that I'm making it again tonight 💖
Only just found Chef, Jean-Pierre, he has quickly become one of my favourites, not only is his style of cooking simple he is just an enjoyable fella to watch. I am in complete agreement with Rick L you cant help but smile when you watch his videos. 😁
Just in case no one knows yet, but on Chef’s website in his recipes, there are options to choose if you need to double and sometimes triple a recipe. No more calculating and wondering if the recipe would work. You don’t even know what a relief that is, it makes me happy!
This guy is so lovable and entertaining, and his segments are so well shot and edited, he must be in the top 10 of CZcams rankings. As a total novice who is trying to learn how to cook better, I've only tried one recipe--the mushroom sauce--but it came out great just like he said it would. And, you can use on so many things.
I love the variety of cheese used in the cream spinach. Gives it much more depth and flavor. Awesome recipe Chef Jean-Pierre. It's truly fun cooking with you
How many packages of frozen spinach, I wonder?
@@lindylou9792, I believe a standard grocery store box of frozen spinach is 8oz, so two packages, or one 16oz package if that option is available.
@@lindylou9792 He said a pound of FRESH spinach. When cooked down, it looked about the size of a package of frozen spinach. You can always try one or two packages. If you really like frozen spinach, start with 2 packages.
👍👍👍😊
Flour or. Corntarch ?
I made creamed dandelion once. I didn't tell my family it wasn't spinach. They loved it. I now grow a lot of dandelions in a patch of my garden.
Did you use the stem AND the flower?
@@DevantesMommy Just the leaves.
Thank you!
Chef, the stories of your Mom are heartwarming. You should do a special show!! You could tell more about your life. Or answer viewer questions. People will watch!!!!
Creamed spinach a favorite
My mom made creamed spinach with lots of garlic, too, Chef Jean-Pierre. She served it with eggs sunny-side-up. Absolutely delicious! And very healthy, too!
Jack, your sense of humor, along with the Chef's, is one of the many reasons we keep watching this refreshing channel.
The timer you placed in the video while the Chef was blanching the spinach and answering him on screen when the Chef said you ate the two individual side dishes really made me laugh!
Thank you, Chef JP. Of all of the restaurants I have worked in, it would have been an absolute JOY to be a part of your staff, even as your dishwasher! :-)
If there is a recipe from the Chef I haven't tied, I sure can't think of it. I always, always follow the recipes step by step (as I do with almost any new recipe). This one as well, and I can tell you it's just spectacular. It's always gratifying when you cook for loved ones and they so enjoy the food that there's little or nothing left over. Once again this recipe is no exception. I can't say enough. Just do it :)
Thanks for the input. I plan to make this on the 1st of the month got to get my cheeses. It looked good.
Do you have the measurements of the pan you use? It looks much smaller than the regular sized lasagna pan. I'm making this recipe in 2 days and likely need to purchase the proper sized vessel to bake this in. I only have large baking dishes !
Love the story of your mother making cream spinach, out of the out side lettuce leaves. What a women, I bet it was delicious. I must say I have never heard of this dish. It’s a must try for me ✅ Thanks chef, and Jack for converting the oven temperature. 😉
he just said it was tasteless and you could only taste the cheese
@@pacoro84 Which is kinda the point - spinach doesn't have much taste by itself either 😉
You know he’s a cook, because right around 914, while he’s stirring one pot, his other arm, naturally, and instinctively touches the other pan where the milk was. Now what this means is he’s used to cooking many dishes at once and when you do that, for so long, you naturally, and instinctively check the other pans to make sure they’re not burning or. at what stage they’re cooking. ❤❤
ChefJP, you were born to be a chef!
Everything about this video is like Christmas morning. Treasures everywhere.
The potato ricer trick would have taken me 100 years to figure out. The stories, techniques and the love in his presentation makes me so grateful. Thank you chef. May she rest in peace.
I paused the video a couple minutes in to say this - holy smokes. I bought a potato ricer because of your recipe for mashed potatoes. I never thought of it being a good way to drain water from spinach. Amazing.
Chef, you put the fun in fundamental.
No matter how many times I watch and learn, I always smile in the ending”
Love the vibe! He’s just awesome!
🙏🙏🙏❤️
It would be so fun and such an honor to spend a day with the Chef. The stories, the laughs, the tricks would absolutely make my day. Yummy dish, thanks Chef!!!
Oh my gosh this looks AMAZING! Thank you for being the best teacher and giving us all of these beautiful lessons for free! On a separate note, would you ever consider giving us a tour of your kitchen and how you organize it? Also, what cookware you would recommend to buy first for someone who is purchasing upgrading kitchen tools. I’m sure there are many like myself who cannot afford to buy all the best all at once. Thank you again and God bless you and your crew
JACK!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You always make these videos HILARIOUS!!!!! Love the Jean-Pierre transitions you use in between the scenes. Shame on you Chef for picking on poor little ole' Jack!!! 😉😉😉🤣🤣🤣 Can't get enough of the Chef and Jack show!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪♥️♥️♥️😍😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥💗💗💗💗😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks so much!!😊👍❤️
I just found Chef in the last couple of weeks. I've watched every episode and he's taught me more than anyone about cooking. Thank you Chef!!
I absolutely adore the story about your mom using lettuce and making creamed spinach 🤣 mom's are superheroes!
👍👍👍❤️
i also use nettles or silver beet without the ribs. Both tastes just like spinach.
It's amazing how food brings back memories . The smell, taste etc. Everytime I smell roasted chilies, I think about my dad an his salsa. Mom's baking the same. Chef keep this going its always the best.
I just want to thank you Chef for making cooking fun and relaxed. I also want to encourage anyone who refused to eat spinach as a kid to try it again as an adult. I didn't know what I was missing for many years, but creamed spinach is my absolute favorite way of eating it. It's such a comfort food and great on these cold days.
I love to watch you cook. I cook because my husband and I need to eat, not so much because I enjoy cooking. This dish makes me want to try cooking it. Thank you for inspiring me.
Chef Pierre is a joy to watch. Creamed Spinach was never on the Irish menu of my childhood, bet I could give Jean a run his money with Bacon and cabbage though. 😀
I made this last night for my friends, I tweaked one thing being the spicey_italian that i am :-) I added a mix of Italian Panko with garlic seasoning and blackening seasoning, and put a nice layer on the top then covered it with the extra cheese. I made it in the little serving ceramic bowls like you did and they looked at it and said "Oh no, this is too much, we can't eat all this!!...." Once they tasted it the practically licked the plates clean.
They both said they loved the Crunch the panko on top made, they thought it was a great balance of creaminess and the texture of the crunch.
Another Amazzzzzzzzzzzing dish, thank you so much for what you do.
You are an absolute pleasure to watch! I’ve made several of your dishes so far and they’ve all been a hit! You’re the first person I’ve ever seen who cuts the stems off of the spinach! I do too!!!! I also dislike them lol. Keep on cooking and bringing us fabulousness in the kitchen ❤️❤️ 🇫🇷
Thank you 🙏
I am a stem cutter too. Tough, nasty things.
My grandmom used to say cut off the stems if spinach as they spoil the taste of the dish when the stems are added
I love this channel this Chef 👨🍳 is such a wonderful human and he makes me laugh and I’m smiling the whole time. Thank you for sharing Shalom 🕊
I can't tell enough people about the Chef. The recipes and techniques are SO user-friendly and approachable. And what a fun character!
Thank you 🙏
Creamed spinach is one of my favorites 💯!!
I can't wait to watch this after work today!!🤩🤩
Oh my goodness This must be the best cream spinach on earth all that butter and those cheeses holy moly! I need to go get spinach now.
😂
But I think I will also put in just a few of those outer lettuce leaves, because of your dear mother.
❤️
I always fall in love, over n over again with Chef Jean Pierre's presentation ....... no matter what he cooks! ❤
Thank you for doing recipes I can eat on my diabetes plan. I haven't made creamed spinach in ages. My Dad creamed and buttered everything he cooked. He made creamed onions once and we stuck our noses up! Had never even tried them...lol. Dad went to the kitchen for something and by the time he got back the whole bowl was empty....yum. I'm 75 and love almost every vegetable including wild ones thanks to my dad, we didn't ever go hungry. He taught me to cook by watching him cooking for the family. Not so much on baking, but, biy could he cook. Neighbors would show him and my oldest sister how to do a recipe and next thing you know Dad was bringing home the ingredients to make what they showed him. Someone brought Dad some fancy canned brandied peaches...Dad tasted them and took them out to the dump! He knew that the tingly feel on his tongue meant they were spoiled. The neighbor rescued his peaches before we could dump them and clean his jars...lol. So funny when Dad tried to politely tell him they were spoiled.😮😁❤
My favorite side with about anything. I use chef JP Alfredo cream sauce with shallot mushroom and and garlic paste and put them in small ramekins with shreaded swiss and parmesan on top. so comforting. Thank you for helping us expand our cooking horizons Chef JP.
I totally need to do this the way you do Chef!!
Please do a Spanakopita Quiche for one of your next episodes...😋👌
You bring so much joy and knowledge Chef. Thank you So Much!
I love when you share these beautiful memory with us!! This one was funny yet very cute. You had a smart mom to save and make use of foods when things are financially tight.❤️❤️
Agreed. The chef's videos get our week off to a good start
This video has EVERYTHING! Incredible creamed spinach and a GREAT STORY!!! Thank you, maestro! Wonderful and keep the stories coming!
That is some really fancy creamed spinach! Bravo! I make a basic creamed spinach with frozen spinach. I cook it, add salt and butter and when it is warm I add half-n-half and grate a lil nutmeg. There isn't any cheese in mine but this is quick and easy for a weeknight steak dinner. Another version is frozen peas with butter, half-n-half, and nutmeg.
I love the story about your mother! I grew up poor, too. There were four girls and we rarely ate out. I didn't realize my mother didn't know how to make a roux! She hated making gravy and would shake water and flour in a jar when she made stew. She hated lumpy gravy!
There were some days she would make Welsh Rarebit using Campbell's cheese soup warmed up and poured over toast. We never went hungry. But the good thing about being poor is I grew up drinking milk, water, and hot or cold tea and I never acquired a taste for drinking soda. We had well water filtered through coal seams in the area so it was sweet and clean and pure (near Black Diamond, Washington state). Black Diamond was named for the coal seams.
I’ve never heard of this but definitely will be making it! I loved the story about your mother’s creamed spinach. Thanks for sharing stories with us! 😊
I’ve always loved cream spinach this recipe makes me so happy! I can’t wait to make it 👍🏼👍🏼
I have so enjoyed all your videos and have learned so much from you. Please keep them coming!!
I love that I could cook more and freeze some. Thank you Chef.
I agree that he is a happy encouraging chef that makes trying new recipes fun!!!!
This recipe is now on my list! Squeezing liquid out of leaves makes so much sense! Merci, JP👍
Bravo on the delicious recipe Chef! Also really enjoying the cut scenes with Chefs motivational words Jack!
DELICIOUS recipe !
You put smile on my face the way you explained.
Thank you Jean Pierre!
Amazing. He explains and covers every detail.Ready to try this recipe.
Love the story of your lovely Mum with the lettuce leaves 🙏 just shows her imaginary flare for tasty cooking . Definitely going to cook this yummy God bless
Chef, you are awesome! Thank you for what you do.
So much fun to watch and learn! Love this! Thank you! 💞.
Unbelievable texture when he cuts into it. Perfection! Spinach is full of folates and just what you want to reduce blood pressure naturally. I cam looking for spinach recipes and this one is on my list. WE are KETO and the cheese does not bother our levels but the lack of folic acid indicates even more complexity in our veggies - we are not fruit eaters. Spinach and kale, brussels sprouts and broccoli. BUT we love them all. Thank you Chef!!!
WOW!!!! That creamed spinach looks amazingly delish!!!! 💗💗💗
Excellent idea, cant wait to make it. Thanks chef.
Looks delicious...
Merci pour vos conseils bien détaillés.
Love seeing this channel grow and improve the production value! Good camera work Jack!
The potato ricer hack for squeezing the water out of spinach is fkn brilliant. I was a pro cook and Chef for years and I never saw that before. This man is non-stop wonderful on every level. God love him. And this community.
Biggest potato ricer I’ve ever seen! Chef sized!
,I have never watch a happy chef demonstrating his chef versality in the empire of cooking.Love your work and learning from you .Thanks and God bless.
You’re a fantastic teacher. And thank you for sharing your wonderful stories. I’m so glad I found your channel! ❤
I love Chef Jean Pierre. He is an amazing cook & he makes me happy. I laugh when he moves his fingers in front of his face. Keep up the good work & don't stop making videos🤣
Creamed spinach is what my German Grandmother OMA made for us. Love it!!
So true!!! He’s absolutely amazing!!
Love ya chef, keep up the great work!!!
Thank you Chef. I always grow spinach in the garden. Now I know a fabulous way to cook it for the family xx
Looks good! Creamed spinach is a wonderful side dish, but without nutmeg, it's just not complete. Freshly grated nutmeg is an absolute must!
This looks so delicious! Can't wait to make it. Thank you for sharing it with us. ❤️😘💞💞💞🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏✌️👶
You are great, Sir. Your style makes your dishes so much more interesting 😁👍 .... and the story of your mama cooking lettuce and feeding you as spinach ... 😂 I guess moms are the same world over 😊
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!! I love you ❤❤❤
Chef, I have learned so many useful tips from you. You've changed my steaks, and now my steakhouse spinach for the better! Thank you so much! Love your videos!
Good afternoon Chef J-P,, we usually buy frozen creamed spinach!! Yes, I do. but it costs a fortune!! So now I will change my ways and do your recipe. I actually love spinach it compliments so many dishes especially steak. The frozen spinach I buy has small pieces of feta cheese mixed into the mixture. I have to admit it is lovely but the portions are very very small just enough to divide between 3 adults. Using your recipe you can serve more with a more generous portion, and it's home made so you know what you eat. Thank you for sharing and showing, your recipes are basic and so delicious. Many blessings.
That's how one makes a dish ;with lots of love and humor. Certainly delicious.
I love you sharing your mother's Italian recipes. I have a small collection of authentic Italian recipes. you have doubled my collection. my first recipe I got from an Italian a Lasagna recipe. when I make it everybody loves it.
You're wonderful, my dear Chef! That must be delicious! Thank you!
I would have had trouble not eating that stuff right out of the pot and just forgetting about the oven altogether! 😍😋 Great Video!
Thank you Chef! Yummy I love creamed spinach, and thank you Jack.
I love the story on your mom with the lettuce leaves, omg, bless her heart!
A online National treasure for depressed and insomniacs! Thank you Chef, you are God sent, love your show, ‘in the back ground’- of course 😜🫣
Omg it looks delicious 😋
