This is an awesome trick, but on behalf of trail builders and maintenance crews, please minimize the use of this!
Reason being it unnecessarily erodes trail. It also is banned in a lot of parks now because it takes a lot of work to repair after countless skids are made.
    Acceptable times to use this:
    -races
-last second avoidance of smacking into a tree
    -on your backyard track
    Unacceptable times to use this:
-You almost have the Strava KOM on the trail (It's not that serious)
-you don't know how to corner so you use this to avoid berms (Pinkbike's Ben Cathro videos are great, as well as The Loam Ranger has an amazing video that improved my cornering linked here! czcams.com/video/8y6ocZHpLoE/video.html)
-your mom is in town and you want to show off your bike skills (She wanted you to be a lawyer, *not* a dirt merchant)
Other than that, ride on! keep learning biking skills, maybe join a local bike team, and be considerate to others!

Fully agree with all of the above Jacob, i have built trails myself and encourage people to use this skill responsibly and places its appropriate to do so!
