- Nearly 1,000 birds died Wednesday night after crashing into the windows at McCormick Place Lakeside Center, likely due to a combination of the convention center's bright lights and the rainy weather. The birds met their death while making their migratory journey south.
Idiots had this problem before. They was told to put decals in the windows. They know. To late for the birds.
Republican stickers in all windows, would be a great begining for the recent decay of Chicago.

Poor birds! Just another reason why I hate all these new modern buildings with all that ugly glass. My old self, loves Chicago's older architecture and I'm sad that it's being destroyed for glass boxes 😞

I had three birds (that I know of) fly into my windows on October 7th. One hit so hard it broke its neck. This rarely happens, but 3 in one day in extremely unusual.

Why don't you do something before it happens then?? Put white paper birds on your windows! Look through your windows on the outside, then you will see what the birds see. There's no excuse for this!
This is sooo disgusting, especially as the owners of this place know it's happened before on many occasions! Get your act together, and DO something to prevent this from happening again, ever. Birds migrate twice a year, you need to do something well before next April, 2024.

Who’s going to jail for this? If someone ever neglect a pet, example a dog then you might get jailed or arrested but these rich sky scraper owners probably laughed at these dead birds. No one should it was a freak accident and they are wild birds. This happens so rarely that building developers don't take it into account. Buildings are made to protect people not birds. I agree more should be done to prevent this from happening again but if the birds aren't domestic then it is not punishable by law.

Could this be due to the Earths core, their magnetic fields are perhaps messed up and this may not be due to lights or windows. Its happening everywhere. An investigation or research clarification would help of the anomaly in question, occuring in many places.

Why are they saving the dead birds?
For study. Basically, they'll get a count of each species involved, as well as age and sex. They might undergo a necropsy to determine more specific details about their death. Then, because they were sent to a museum, they'll be freeze dried and put into permanent storage for future research use. Lots of genetic and molecular work can be done after that point. They can figure out where they migrate to and from, what they ate while they were there, levels of toxins and pollutants in the area, etc.
