Tim has mentioned in episode “Brown History Month” that his father was a black bear and that his mother was a kangaroo. So after a quick google I found out Black bears are a game species in the state of Virginia. It is however illegal to kill the bear outside of hunting season. I am not sure if Donna has her hunting license or how long it would take her to get one or if it’s even hunting season at the time. But I can’t imagine the punishment for killing a bear in a suburban neighborhood outside of hunting season is too bad.
I do really like this moment since yeah you don't literally get to see the female lead threatened like that even when they deserve to be in such a show but it's a nice sort of subversive joke on this kind of scenario. Because yeah in these kind of shows for the sake of a plot or even just a joke a character will forget something about themselves that would make you go "wait why are they running or agreeing to this when they could so easily fight back?" I mean like in Futurama wasn't leela established as being this karate highly skilled badass? How come there are so many episodes of her being threatened or held up then while totally forgetting she can do that? So I like this played of an earlier scene of Donna threatening the others but then Tim coming back and saying "wait I was just in the heat of the moment but I just remembered yeah that rhreat means shit I'm a fucking bear I can kill you with ease so don't try faking me out" so yeah kudos to the team for that bit.
