About 2 Meter Sessions
====================
Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zealand band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

this is some amazing quality for 1997
right
It is!
especially if it was filmed on tape wtf
@@caivsivlivs This was probably filmed on some kind of broadcast DV tape, so yeah the quality is definitely really good for tape.
@@trinitron384 It was indeed filmed for TV, for the Dutch show called '2 Meter Sessies', hosted by Jan-Douwe Kroeske, who was that tall. It was broadcast from 1987 to 2012 on radio and on TV for a bit shorter. If you search for it, you might be able to find some more. Sepultura to Soul Coughing, they are all up there. Check it out, the host may be a bit awkward every now and then, but they are great quality.
He looked so proud of his pianist at the end aw
Yeah, that was so cute.
I wish anyone looked at me the way Jason Lytle looks at his pianist.
That was beautiful
The pianist looks at Jason Lytle romantic-like too 0:51
Feels rushed
One of the best song ever written by a human
Nah fam, I’m on that AI shit
I wish these guys would of collaborated with sparklehorse before mark passed. Would have been epic .
Oh yeah. Grandaddy is one of my favorite band and i agree with u. Totally.
28 days later. 2023
Steady on
that guitar tone though
That Big Muff sound
Big muff with p90 pickups
@@Dylan90210 I always thought the pickups in jazz masters were p90’s too. But when I got one for myself I found out on the internet that they are actually wide single coil pickups, but they handle fuzz amazingly
There's something very unusual about the keyboard riff in this song. You can hear how there are two notes one octave apart for each key he plays. One of the notes is slightly delayed so you hear them one after the other. The really cool thing is that it is the SECOND note which is in time with the rest of the band, so the keyboard player has to play each note slightly before the beat by just the right amount. That takes some skill!
some friends and i are working on a cover, and i too noticed this and it seemed so cool, band was so ahead of its time.
Insane that this is 26 years old, the music sounds fresh as ever and the band themselves could be transported to current day and I wouldn’t think anything different.
I was just listening to PUP's cover of this and had to come back to the original too. About as perfect a song as can be.
2 more years and it’s gonna be “28 Years Later”
i like when the drummer smiles at 2:39 i know that feeling
I come back to this vid just to watch my boi smile at 2:39
my boy

The love and genuineness in this small performance is palpable
I did not expect him to look like that tbh
I thought he'd look like Weezer's Rivers Cuomo.
@@Ray-mw1fx Chad Jason Lytle Vs. Virgin Rivers Cuomo
I expected him to look 2D like the album cover
But somehow his look still suites his voice and music.
I expected him to be 23 feet tall
one of the best humans written by a song
The song that Weezer wished they'd written 😂
naw i'm pretty sure they immediately regretted pinkerton, but still their best album
Ahead of its time
They were way ahead of the time. If they would have came out around 2012 when front bottoms and similar bands were blowing up. Oh yeah. They would be huge. Real shame.
Absolutely
When I first heard the song I thought it was recent, mainly because of the piano part.
luv that riff, so simple , brilliant
28 Days Later Baby!
28 days later anyone?
Hellz to the yeah!!!
Yes 👍
It’s 2023, super late to the party. Heard them every once in a while but just today listening to their stuff non stop and I can say I’m happy to be a new fan ❤️
Taught my 5y to play the piano parts now her favorite song
Just realized playing this on guitar it is the same exact chords as another song I like “tear it in two” by the briefs. Still sound like two completely different songs. Just have to say I love grandaddy and have been listening to them since I was a kid and it feels like a part of my life. I get tears of joy thinking about hearing this song as a kid and just being mesmerized by it. Hope the band sees this so they know that their music means a lot to me and others i’m sure. Thanks for all the great times. One of my favorite bands of all time.
how do I get this guitar tone??
@@D7oDR6KpRgqkcqlKAkCWjvlDy4x distortion??? Lol my only input. Not sure what his set up is
I remember seeing them live at Lowlands '98. The singer seemed like he wasn't all that comfortable being on stage, basically hiding behind his keyboards. Other than that, I mostly remember them playing this song, the only one that I had heard before (thank you, Kink FM).
Saw em last night in Manchester. Powerful stuff, Lytle has had enough time now to master his on stage craft, and it certainly pays..
Kind of a sad song and band so it’s hard to evoke sadness and be comfortable with the crowd simultaneously. JMO
Videos like this are why I'm glad CZcams exists, given its flaws. Younger generations can be recommended this timeless classic which would otherwise be lost to history.
makes me miss the 90s
Everyone getting nostalgic for the 90s....because of the crap times we're in
@@muskrat477 True
The smile and celebration at the end! That's some heartwarming shit :o)
Saw them live on December of 2000 in Barcelona with Wayne Coyne in the audience, who played the day before with The Flaming Lips. Great times for new psychedelia.
Bloody amazing
Thank you so much for this upload ! This band is so underrated !
Amazing song by such an amazing artist
It’s like a time capsule super cool!
Fantastic song and a great album!!
soundtrack for my life, I listen to this track, or it's live versions, or its covers at least weekly. I never will get sick of it. So many memories tied to it.
I just realized the A.M 180 is the dinner plate gun
All focus, all groove, and still most excellent to this day. Grandaddy is good for whatever together.
In love with that melody
I remember the first time I heard this song on "28 days later" loved it then.. love it now
So good! So chill! So sweet!

Man i love this song, that smile of pure happiness at the end it tells you all what this song is about.
His voice actually sounds better than the recording, first time ive known this to be the case
It was perfect.
This songs message still hits hard in the social media era….
This song was composed by people who knows MUSIC!!!
Fekin quality 🤘🤘
Peace from the Netherlands love this song
28 Days later
It's definitely what introduced me to them which is funny because of how good that soundtrack was. Granddaddy is special though maybe it's just this song, but it really makes my feel like everything will be okay no matter when I listen to it
Love it
I didn't know william defoe from the light house played drums.

Grandaddy rocking beards waaay before it became fashionable...
They were in Long Beach a few weeks ago and I’m pissed that I had to find out through a tiktok video of someone shotgunning a beer during this song
seeing these guys live is on my bucket list

28 days later face having ass boy 😂
Awesome tune !!
2022 and still looking for single malt when doing groceries
Under the western freeway dats right
Anyone know how I can achieve that guitar tone ! 😩
Im dying to know this also
Big muff op amp or other big muffs (smashing pumpkins siamese dream). A mesa boogie mark amp could get that tone too (weezer blue album). For pickups p90 or any hot single coil/humbucker
This was my Nazi Zombie killing song. 👌🏼
When is this performance from? It doesn't look from the recent reunion tour
