Falcon gets a heart! (1963 Falcon Sprint engine install)

- Ever start a small project and it runs away? Thats this Falcon. I restored the car 8 years ago. Three years ago the engine started making metal. I pulled it with intentions of a quick rebuild. Ended up doing the Mustang II front end and many other changes. Its finally coming together.

Subbed from down under west coast australia,, I gotta '65 Aussie falcon wagon...They were 170's or 200ci 6cyl's from factory but we've shooed in a nice 1998 5.0 Windsor & put it back to old school carb 650 Holley.. still a work in (slow) progress, but your video gave me a big smile.. Oh I get that , I’m taking notes , I have a 63 body I pulled out of a junkyard that I want to make look nice and run good , yours is looking great like that white , what are you going to do chassis wise ?
@@davidbisnette7673 it’s got coilovers all the way around. TCI 4 link in the rear, heidts Mustang II up front. To stiffen the front up, I fabricated some down tube supports that tie the frame rails into the firewall. Check my other videos. There is some good footage of it 🍻

Build a shim for the motor mount between block to raise motor for more pan clearance.

Yes it was at .002. I’ve honestly never had to use offset dowels on Ford engines. Maybe I just get lucky.

Everything is for sale. But the car means so much to me, it wouldnt make sense for the buyer.

What size engine you got there? Nice coon! Used to drag race a ‘62 Ranchero in high school in 1980, ran 11.80’s with a 289/C4.
It’s a 302. 11.80 is great! That’s a fast street car.
Where are you located just watched your video I have a 63 Falcon that I’ve on for 26 years That has a 351 Windsor I want to do some upgrades on the front end have a hard time finding someone to do the work they’re just too busy. Love the wheel and tire set up on The car I do have 8x15 on the rear of my car 6x15 On the front But I would like to do the same size all the way around

why dont you see these facon swaps with an automatic transmission? i have a job coming up where a guy wants to swap his 390 with 2 speed to a 302 and 3 or 4 speed auto into a convertable. is there clearnce issues or something?
They’re pretty tight. My car used to have a c4. Generally you can make an AOD fit with some well placed hammer work
@@rdspeedfab thanks for the reply. its a super clean ride just not reliable as a cruiser and only gets about 4 mpg, he wants to make it useable for longer distances. i figured there would be a hammer and a shoehorn involved somewhere. Btw nice job on the vids. very informative. nice rides too!
@@Robsksas thank you! Yeah totally doable. There is a local guy who’s running a 4r70w in one. I haven’t seen his install but I don’t think it’s cut up much.
@@rdspeedfab thaks for the input. i havent messed with one of these before but have done my share of mustangs and cameros. is there much difference in the chassis between the hardtop and convertable that would need addressed?
@@Robsksas it’s basically an early mustang floor pan. Convertible has added torque boxes but nothing that would interfere with engine trans.
