How The Archerfish Guns Down Spiders With Spit
Vložit

- The archer fish (or archerfish) may look like an ordinary fish, the way they capture prey will stop you in your tracks! This carnivorous fish floats near the surface of the water, awaiting spiders and insects. Once prey is near, archerfish can gun down prey up to five feet above the water by spitting a jet of water from its mouth!

God’s design is amazing.
We consistently see complex, highly intelligent behavior in organisms with sub-par intelligence.
The only explanation for this is God.
This is probably the closest we'll get to an animal actually trying to be a pokemon and using water gun to another animal.
Wouldn't that make them gunner fish in stead of archer fish.
That's exactly what I was thinking. I was like, "That's a Pokémon, damn it!" 😄👍
How lame
Mantis shrimp, pufferfish, electric eel and more are Pokémon to me
@@Onceuponajuan lame
I had four of them in a 50 gallon tank years ago. They have personalities too. I left the top off the tank and put a pair of potted plants on either side of the tank. The leaves on the side towards the tank would get a drop of honey or something sweet and sticky. It was a great way to deal with flies however they did leave water spots everywhere. Now the funny thing about them. Anyone passing the tank got spat at by them if they were hungry and went unfed. I got spat at as I would go to leave for work if they were not fed in the morning too. They also would follow people from one side to the other if anyone walked by and when it was time to clean the tank they were like chickens hoping for something to be dragged up in the cleaning effort. They got excited to see a tub of night crawlers and equated any kind of tub that looked like the round Styrofoam container Nightcrawlers are sold in as well as other bait worms as feeding time. Again if they seen a white tub and did not get worms they spat at the holder of the container. What would be even funnier was watching a movie and the fish seemed to watch from the tank as well but when a moth would fly in the room if it flew over the tank it looked like anti aircraft fire with squirt guns. Not a beginners fish for aquariums since they do have some special needs being a touch PH sensitive but for the seven years I had mine they were one of the most fun fish I owned. They are great bug control if you can harden the area the tank is in for perpetual squirt guns going off from it. Heck, they even spat at my room mate's cat any time it tried to seat itself and stare at them like he wanted to catch one. That poor cat never learned his lesson for a long time and seeing that cat with his face water blasted by fish was hilarious. I actually would like to get four or five more and see if I can get them to breed and actually rear the offspring this pass.
If you do, upload archerfish videos to youtube? >.>
They offered archerfish at my LFS. I always wanted them but unfortunately... I don't have the space for a large tank (I hear they actually should have around 100g for a group of 6). And I also don't have the energy for fish who need live foods all the time
@@user-tz9jh6pv2j Actually they eat fish food pellets too. Mine were in a fifty gallon which is a little small for adults but for juveniles they will grow into it and can be transferred or traded for other fish later. They are not exactly picky eaters but they do have preferences and if it moves, top of the list.
Spider: good thing I held onto this branch so that fish didn't get me.
Also Spider: hmm, time to let go and start spinning a web.
fr inthought that too
Spiders gotta spider
it's like a skyrim npc, 1 minute after getting hit by a fireball:
must have been the wind
That moment you realize a fish is better at physics and math than you'll ever be
Bug: *Gets shot down*
Also Bug: "BLYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT"
Remoraid used water gun*
😂
noooo... 🤣🤣🤣
Lololol
*Spinarak Fainted
What bothers me is how remoraid evolves into of all things, an octopus.
We've all seen land animals going fishing, but this is the first time I've seen a fish hunting a land creature.
Wouldn’t it also mean their eyesight is incredible?
Mine would watch TV from the tank and I mean they paid attention and sometimes would dart for cover because something they seen on the TV would spook them.
Actually no: Eyesight, as keen as can be, cannot account for refractoriness between water and air. It still has to estimate a higher trajectory to account for the difference and hit its target.
Take a sniper or archer trying with wind affecting the bullet/arrow trajectory; their eyesight can be super, but it’s the accounting for changes that makes them successful.
When a fish has a better aim than youll ever have
L2P scrub
lol
Then what? When we humans can alternatively capture prey by several different mechanisms: fishing, setting traps, raising edible animals ready for slaughter, etc., etc. It just means their aim has to be better anyway, because there’s no alternative.
He def got aimbot
So spider senses don't actually work in the nature huh
Lol
Marvel lied to you. Cockroach has better senses than spiders tbh.
Fish: spits water
Documentary: "A master of physics, this brilliant specimen carefully calculates where to propel it's murderous projectile. Such astounding intellect could only be attained after centuries of meticulous evolution."
FR lmao
Like that fish got a PHD in physics
It’s not a ‘murderous’ projectile. A murderous projectile itself would incapacitate(or kill) the target. Alternatively, this projectile provides opportunity by gaining the fish access to its prey on the water surface{where the ‘murder’ takes place}
To be honest, it does deserve praise, doesn't it? What a cool guy!
I have yet to see a video that does justice to the distance and accuracy these guys' can shoot.
Damn
Spider: That won't do
Also the spider: Here you go
😂😂😂😂😂
Nature really is crazy. How the fish evolved to do that its amazing.
my problem with almost all of these archer fish videos i find on youtube is the multi cam perspective. People want one straight shoot of the hunt, instead of it being edited with closer detail and different perspectives. Just give me one continuous shot where both the archer fish and the prey are in view, you can see it hit the target, the prey falls into the water and the fish eats it.
real and true
سبحان الخالق البديع فيما يخلق ❤
Those fishes are an accurate snipers
A hungry fish wants to eat, it has it's way of getting those insects!!
we are toast when fish invent guns
Archer fish did their PhD on refraction of light topic 😅
imagine doing all that work but another fish steals your prey
What an awesome natural hunter she is!!💕💕
Wow Nature is amazing
that spider screamm biliyattttttttt
I work wth fish so sometimes I even get squerted by one right in the face! They're so accurate amazing 😃
thats what she said
@@barknbulut8754 Yes moron that is what she just said
Hahaha amazing
Where did u need to work with these fish? Or was it some other type? Does that mean they don't like u?
This thing is so fast lol .. remind me of my childhood runing around the sore try to catch this fish
A true fisherman.
Fisherfish
Crazy how the top of its head is flat, probably to help conceal it better so it’s head doesn’t pop out of the water as it approaches the surface, exposing itself.
Evolution takes a long time, but does a damn good job!
Archer fish r cool as hell, I wonder y they ever inherited this way of hunting to begin with.
True yeah
To flex
0:55 head shot
How accurate do you have to be to shoot down a small spider on a stick?
You have to hit the target, that is how accurate you have to be to shoot down a small spider on a stick Einstein
@@donlitos lmao
…inside 6 feet. Don’t forget factoring in distance away.
@@donlitos Not necessarily if the spider is dangling below a single line of web. A hit high would alternatively break the string causing the spider to fall.
Ok so nobody’s gonna talk about that edited spider splash🤣
bros got more no scoping skills than me
Found something about this in my physics text book! Had to look it up! Mind is positively BLOWN!!!
the shooting accuracy is very good 👍
Snipings a good job mate. 💦🐟
Wow I think it's the only fish that uses Water to shoot it's prey, what a smartass animal!!!
The Fish using Watergun 😅😅😅
That's a lot of physics for a fish
Fantastic!
Not only that the Sniper Fish calculates wind direction to compensate its target. and the most fascinating is that the fish calculates also the revolution of the Earth/...
Revolution of Earth. Logic??
The fish, water, insect, branch, and planet are all rotating at the same speed. So it doesn't have to calculate that
@@calebwilliams586 yeah wtf but the other writer had an interesting idea.... With all them at the same speed only the wind and other factors need to be accounted for.
Me:dropped my book on the water
Fish:read the book and learned new ability the ability to spit😬
100% V.A.T.S. accuracy.
one of the coolest animals holyyy thank u youtube shorts for recommending me a video with this fish in it
Awwww skeet skeet
This is very effective & enough with water, to reload if one misses. One can do this with vodka to an antagonists.
The cinematography tho
Thats one way to go being spit on and fall off a branch LoL
Remoraid used Hydro Pump! It's super effective!
Spider: “ I want to eat the things you are eating, I do not want to be what you are eating!
Um.. thought fish couldnt see THAT well..🤔
If Usopp from One Piece was a fish.
I should send this to my friend who is afraid of spiders! 🤣
this freaking awesome like wtfff nature
A spider is crayyzy
I see where rimuru's skill came from
Expert max man lol😂
An intelligent fish 🐟
All the archer fish needs is accuracy
All you need is a sense of humor
Damn cool.
Wow a lot fish and the river look scary
am thinking freaking dirty.
This fish is out here figuring out how to eat by spitting water man, I feel like an idiot struggling to survive.
Ready!
Aim!
Fire!
100% accuracy 😮😮😮
Sniper! xD
They killed my dude
coolest. fish. ever
Animals are real life Pokémon IMO
nice
I want my life to be narrated in this voice
"And now, observe @annakaro" opening his web browser and conducting a search for asian ass porn..."
Did not miss once crazy
My boi used water gun. Soon he’ll learn hydro pump💯
100% Accuracy
0% Damage
0% damage for us humans. But insects that small dies fast from a little splash of waters.
Wow that's Water Gun that's my Pokemon yeah water Pokemons are awesome
Wow
Archerfish belike: EZ
Sinking of Shinano in a nutshell.
Water gun. Pokémon.
Poor little Spider-Man. Now he’ll never get his power 😥
FPS in animal kingdom :
Told you Magicarp was real.
That means fish has clear eye sight under water..?
After I learned about a nature documentary where animals were murder to get the shot, I am now skeptical of the footage, unless showing wide shots showing the fish and the spider on the same frame. I am inclined to this the video is a montage. Did some one squirt the spider or was the actual fish?
I knew there was a reason I loved l fish any fish that eats a spider is a good fish
Hey! What's with the editing?... You mean there still exist not one video of her actually shooting, hitting, and eating the insect, in one shot? 🤔
multiple camera angles....that hard to understand?
@@imn1ppystr -I'd explain it, but your comment shows I'd be wasting my time.
@@davidsimpkins8639 its not all shot on one camera therfore you have to edit it together derpus
@@imn1ppystr -Yeah, I know that. (Let me help you), what I want to see is a shot that shows the entire action from start to finish (aka, one action). Allowing us to see and appreciate the whole uninterrupted motion. Instead of what's being shown, which is;
shot A- (under water) the fish shoots.
shot B- (above water) the water leaves the fish.
shot C- the water hits the target. (from what seems to be a different angle.)
That way gives three views of three unrelated actions. Cheap, I feel.
I'm only commenting because this is an old video, seems like a newer version should've come out by now. I know it takes a lot of time to set up for them shots but hey... ain't like I have the finances and resources to do it.
and we're the game grumps
360 no scoped
I thought he said assault water crocidile
Nature
If a fish can shoot water more accurate than a water gun, we humans stand no chance
You mean to tell me a fish can calculate how to accurately hit an insect that’s 6ft away with vision being hindered by the refraction of water in seconds but I take longer to solve a simple business calculus problem.
Hate it here.
Looked these fishes up after seeing a bunch of them hit their shot not one miss it’s so fucking cool
The most dummy spider i ever saw.
Funny that, I was thinking the same about your comment!
Typing error. i editted it. What a lack of humor....
@@ExJewAntiKhazarWesternAsian Where was the humor in your comment?
You Have Failed This River
How much I wanna be a spider right now 😩
Bro?
Why is CZcams filled with creepy people?
Excuse me wtf?
ill believe six feet when i see it.
This is an incredible creation with fine-tuning... Praise to the Almighty
Its all fun and games until one archerfish starts chanting and conjures a world with swordfishes being stuck on the ground
It wasn't due to come calculated gravity shot by the archerfish... he simply got the spider coz it was dumb enough to leave the branch and hang on by a rope.
