As a woman finally out of a nightmare marriage with a high-conflict, abusive husband, this convo makes me happy that there are actually kind, deep, loving men out there, and that means there’s hope for the world.
What an incredible talk. Never heard Judd in this environment before, what a deep and insightful dude.
I’ve been watching from the start but this episode here gave me an epiphany that this is the modern day inside the actors studio. Great work Neal on crafting this show!
You know we be waiting on Dave tho!
Seconding Dan Harmon. Thanks for all this Neal. Saw you in Chicago it was a good time
Hello Neal, just wanted to say that this podcast is my favorite podcast. Funny people talking about deep personal stuff is so interesting to watch, it's relaxing, and it's become rare to have fun while relaxing. So thank you for this
"I get 11,000" bruh I'm dead. That encapsulates Neal's comedy so well 😂
Neal single handedly getting me through this strike. Thank you!
Awesome interview! Judd is one of my favorites.
Still watching but know this is worthy of a comment and like. Thanks Neal!
Thank you Neal. Thank you Judd. 😁
My favourite thing that Judd was involved in was The Larry Sanders Show. So glad he did that documentary on HBO on Garry Shandling and how groundbreaking his work was in comedy. Basically paved the way for The Office to exist and flourish but is now virtually unknown by a whole generation
This is great! Paused it halfway through and turned on the HBO Garry Shandling documentary series
One of the greatest lines I've ever heard in an ad before "...sounds crazy, but LIFE is crazy...". Lmao 1:06:04
Really enjoyed this one, Neal. 👍
This is NOT boring. Fear not. Not boring.
Great episode with a great guest. Most of his movies are instant classics
Well this show just gets better and better.
This was a great episode, with an interesting starting question about how he makes something from good to great
The best comedies are always the ones with real heart. That’s the magic!
best episode so far (i am listening to TBP since last night non-stop)
Untethered Soul book that Judd mentions is great. Highly recommend.
"Milk was a bad choice", really is one of the best lines. So great to hear it comes from improvisation.
Another episode I really liked. Great questions, relaxed guest, GREAT listener (as the one having the interview/talk), learned some new things about Judd, got a few laughs. All around great company on the treadmill. I get that it is totally not possible to get everyone to want or be able to be a guest on a podcast. And it is non of our business why someone might turn up as a guest or not over time. But I can dream, right? And a few I dream will want to (or Neal will want to have on) are: Maya Rudolph, Bo Burnham, Bill Hader, Trevor Noah, Seth Rogan, Jim Carrey, Kate McKinnon, Jerrod Carmichael, Phoebe Waller Bridge, Rami Yousef.
Jim Carrey for sure.
Editor is great. 🫡
I still miss Bernie Mac. I still get teary when I think about him. ❤😢
Milk and Cooooooookiiiiiiieeeessss
Thanks for the heads up about the beastie boys instrumental album. That had passed me by
Patrice was such a huge loss, he had so much to give...
Another great episode!
Great ep. Judd is the most likeable man.
I too am a workaholic. For years I was helplessly addicted to workahol.
I love him!
Really thinking about geologic time used to terrify me. I feel what he’s saying.
Neal has more entertaining ads than most. I actually listened! 😂
Neal (and everyone else) I can't recommend The Untethered Soul and his newer book Living Untethered enough. Truly life changing, mind altering stuff. The author (Michael Singer) also has a bunch of talks on CZcams that are so good. 15/10 recommend.
seconded! plus his autobiography The Surrender Experiment is 🔥🔥🔥 as well
Best part was Judd saying "self-esteem rises" with an edit of the camera going downward.
Tim Heidecker next please! That'd be an amazing conversation.
This was a great pod too :)
Oh God YES. I'd kill to have a great interview from him. I'm sure if you can find out a lot from his podcast he already has but still an in depth conversation would be great.
Neal hasn’t spent a single minute with Heidecker.
Even though I’m not yet 40, I still do relate much more to This is 40
heh the guy at the 1:24:53 mark is Allen Covert Sandler's best friend in Wedding Singer
I love the depths of the conversations, gread episode buddie

Recap by Tammy AI
I've learnt so much just through your condensed summary. Thank you Tammy AI!
Hard not to hear Bill Hader’s Judd impression.
Ya knooooow
Judd is also my UPS driver…
"Fine line between impotence and premature ejac" is a great fucking line
Well, I’m having an internal freak out: two of my comedy heroes. Just chatin’
Mad respect that Judd wore shorts.
Neal is my spirit turd. The reason my potty jokes are so darn funny.
Hoping to see Conan on here one day
Oh my.
I know he isnt a stand up comedian, but my husband and I would die for Philip Defranco be on
Art Streiber is a blessing to the commercial photo world
So I actually went to the Birddogs shorts site. The names of their products are pretty funny.
Haha and then I decided to check it out and you're right, friggin' hilarious. I wanna know the guy who sits behind the desk coming up with those names.
U follow BUSTA?? LOL I love it!! He coulda been a comedian XOX
“No one made funny movie before YOU!”
*Mel Brooks just left the chat*
Love Judd apatow to the Moon and back! Yep I don't care for a lot of his juvenile type movies from younger years... That bothers me. But I keep loving him -so much, and I will keep loving him! Great interviewee
a movie bothers you?
I love this is 40😊
The food conversation is HILARIOUS: my little food fact (not science base) is ice cream is a liquid not a solid because how the hell you can explain when you so FULL at a buffet you can still eat a bowl of ice cream LOL
the pavlok seems like some insane sketch tbh
What if the movie of Judd's life is in the theme of "Defending your life" with Albert Brooks, except it's "Defending your comedy" and Cosby is his defense lawyer character guy! :D
What is with the color of Neal's hair? What is he doing and why?
I had to go watch that Cosby bit and it's exactly how Neal described it and it's hilarious. I'm glad he got talked into doing it (the bit, not the raping and the drugging and the women)
Great insight my Judd idea: 3 amigos reboot in 3yrs...with will f, john c and wahlbeg
Russel Crow plays Judd in biopic coming to theaters in 2025
CHOCO-DILES!!! 👍🏻😂😂
_"You're talking, like, the class levels you had to drive through to go through Brentwood to Hollywood?"_ Oh, Neal. Or _"You don't look as fat as you used to."_ Even among friends, it takes gall to speak so frankly.
I think I've watched Zen Diaries.. like 5 times.
Response to ending chat on this pod...Song: Mr Tanner...Singe/writer: Harry Chapin
Has he mentioned Half Baked in every episode so far?
Dan Harmon please
ohhhh okay so Fall is going to be about landing those big fish! Apatow can't wait to hear what inside his bean great project neal or should i say jimmy lol
ABSURDLY MORE AD BREAKS VS EVERY OTHER EPISODE JFC
If you close your eyes, this is a podcast of Neil DeGrase Tyson
Excuse me what's this show about? I need to know the concept....😂
its where judd lies and pretends hes a friend of comedians while Kneel pretends he doesnt know anything to call him on it because hes still on the hollyweird teet
He speaks exactly like Seth Rogan? Is he related?
The George Carlin doc is epic
Can we have Artie Lange here. What blocks him at his age?
1:20 Heavyweights
Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen are basically voice twins 😂
Who?
Heavyweights? ChatGPT? Come on.
Judd is an American Treasure 💗🌈😘
Judd Apatow is the Mel Brooks of his generation.
Glad Judd didn't sugar-coat Garry's ego.
Whaaat, I would totally live forever. Stop thinking? No thanks
I just learned I dress exactly like Judd Apatow... so a 55 year old, "beyond jewish" guy. Not sure what that says about me but hey at least he's supremely funny.
looks 75, too bad
I consider Apatow, as this era's John Hughs....just saying.
Adam Sandler: "I ate em all, pal."
You are using big words that I don’t understand so I’m going to take that as a sign of disrespect.
He gets it. He’s a little slow, but he gets it
He looks like a UPS driver.
dead inside
Get Amy Schumer! ❤
28:10 omg. That’s all so interesting. I love Bridesmaids bc the antagonist is not the hero. Girls get to be f*lucked up and you still like them and have redemption too. It was like Billy Madison, but for girls.
Finally
Apatow hated on Louis. He can eat one. 😊 Love you Neal ❤
Davy Jones is Dead. "Hey hey, I'm a corpsey"
You should have asked him why he decided to attack Louis Ck for a half cooked bit that somebody recorded in a club.....seemed unnecessary and like a move to stay in the good graces of the woke mob.
Apatow works at UPS also, huh....
it's incredible that judd has had such a long career involving so many important voices in comedy, yet he can go on twitter and routinely come across as one of the dumbest men alive. the way that comedians continue to embrace him after the absolute humiliation tour he went on crying about louis ck's leaked set is bizarre. just as he said about getting the stiller gig- he looks better on paper than he actually is in the actual comedy community. i'm so glad jim norton was a real friend to louis and a real comedian and refused to bootlick like these other guys. for him to attack the process of building a standup set just shows why no one can quote a single judd apatow standup joke.
The jewish Neal Brennan
Wtf pull your beard, it's what it's for.
Get Bob Saget next!
You might want to sit down for this...
Both “too soon” and perfectly timed
Then Norm, then Gilbert...
@@thesimulation9651 Robin and Mork!
@@thesimulation9651But isn’t Norm d….
The Ben stiller show was the shit. there wasnt a good sketch show since then until chapelle show. SNL has sucked for 20 years at least its so tired and predictable like sitcom scripts.
Interesting to hear the background of the Shandling - Gervais issue. I wondered why that was so awkward and weird.
