- Do the tools on a credit card multi-tool actually work? It seems like the amount and variety of credit card multi-tools available on the market are endless, but are they actually useful?
Today we take a standard 11 in 1 credit card multi-tool and test every tool and function it offers to see if it is worth carrying around in your wallet. Each tool on the credit card multi-tool is tested to see if it works, is useful, and is easy to use.

The only useful review of this item out of dozens - because you actually demonstrated each tool’s use. Your explanations and opinions were very intelligently and simply stated. Good work.
I have a suggestion for the use of the can opener. If you do it in a backward motion instead of forward motion it will be much easier. You won’t have to keep punching a new hole every time. By the way great job on the video and I hope your channel grows.
like the p38 did.just plunge and drag it
Wow I’ve seen hundreds of videos with p38s and no one has used that technique, not even steve.
@@tweezerjamThe limited instructions that came with the original P38s actually showed that you used it in "reverse". Putting the tip through the previous cut gap.
I brought this little device. I keep it in my wallet. This little edc device has got me out of a lot of situations. It's worth the price to carry something like this. I don't always carry my edc backpack which has multiple items for certain situations. In using the device it's best to have a glove on the hand you use so that it's more comfortable to use. Having something is better than having nothing especially when you are in a pinch. Nice video dude.
Can’t agree more:) Thanks for watching!
You do a great job of testing it. Others have commented on the proper use of the can opener, so I'll just mention that the lineyard hole can also be used to bend wire, to pull cording, hold nails etc.
Ha. Didn't think of that..
was just thinking it was a hole to loop onto your keychain. Lol
For the small amount of subs, this seems truly professional and it compares up to the channels with a lot of subs, I hope your channel grows!👍🏽
Thanks! Put a lot of effort into it. More videos soon😁
@@KnifeManual I'll be looking forward to them!
The only guy who has explained how to use "direction ancillary indication".
the can opener has a hook near the blade that catches on the can rim, then you lever the cutting blade into the can and with a rocking motion work around the lid
it's not just forced into the lid.
To use it as a compass , hang the card from a string in the lanyard hole, you don't have to float it in water.
again tyvm for the info more so the (compass like feature )
I bought it but didn't know most of the advantages it has, but after watching this video I find this tool very useful. Thanks
Glad I could help out!😁
Same
The same for me🙂👍
This is the best review of this particular tool on youtube. You do actual demonstrations instead of just talking about it.
The lanyard hole is useful. If you need to apply torque, while using 4 position wrench on this card. By using the lanyard you reduce the the risk of injury. You can use the wrenches with out physically touching the multi tool card.
Assuming is stays in place. That seems like a challenge.
Thanks, it was a gift and I was like (in my head) why?
Now I know, because of you HOW TO USE IT, so again Thank you!
A sturdy glove should come with it. Opening that can looked like something I wouldn't want to do.
An ergonomic masterpiece with absolutely no hot spots whatsoever.
I carry this at work everyday because it's the only tool that sits in the single card holder stuck to the back of my smart phone. (Something I always have to have on me) Put the end of a 10 in 1 klein (or Milwaukee) screwdriver in your pocket, and you can use the socket section to add torque, and now you have a strong batch of screwdrivers, plus knife, and other tools on you at all times with almost zero added pocket space used.
The ultimate combo👍😁
Good idea thanks!
Extremely well done presentation and honest. No needless jibber jabber and I appreciate that. Other channels tend to go on and on and use this as a chance to show off their other EDC tools and the meat of the video gets lost in the confusion. Your focus on the Credit Card Tool was long needed. Everyone has come across one of these at some point, but few have had the chance to see if they do what they are made to do. You covered that perfectly. Thank you. You summed it up well. They don't take up much room and they do what they are supposed to. I have these planted all around in my packs and bags...Just in case. Thank you and look forward to more on your channel.
Nice to finally know all the functions to this tool that I keep in my car for years now. Definitely a useful tool that could come in handy one day. Nice video. Thanks
Oh!. By the way. In using the compass part. You lay the card on a flat surface. Then put water in the center of the opening till it's at the top. Take a small sewing needle that you have magnetized cut it down to size and place it in the center. Now you have a make shift compass. It ain't perfect. But it works.
Oooh good tip!
Thanks for explaining that Max, I've read how to do it but your explanation of using it to mimic a compass was excellent 👍
Thanks for sharing a thorough test of the tool. I think sometimes it's referred to as a multi-function tool, in which perhaps the lanyard hole could be qualified as a function. Also, because of the size and amount of tools in such a small piece of thin steel, one can hardly expect it to work well in most of its functions. Even in large tools, a multi-function tool normally doesn't work as well as a dedicated one.
Nice job! Keep information coming!
You do not appear to be using the can opener correctly. It works as good as a military P-38 which is very effective.
Very well presented! Awesome video, Townsen. You have a new sub! I can see this channel going far!
A lanyard hole? But the thing is full of other holes. You could run a lanyard (or, as I call it, a string) through any of those holes.
Awesome demonstration! I just received this as a gift and needed a video to learn how to use all the tools! Thanks!
Thanks for the demo!
got one for Christmas and came here to see what I could use it for. Thank you
Glad I could help out! ☺️
Good video, I’ve had one of these tools for literally years and I didn’t even know what it was! So this video was really useful and well put together, 👍
me too!
Great job! Great presentation! Thank you for the much needed explanation of the tools! I appreciate your time testing them.
Thanks!
Good job young man, I just got o e these for an early Christmas present and didn't have a clue.... Everything I needed to know was your video, thanks.....
Glad I could help out😁
cool i have had one for a while, glad to see a vid made on it thanks man!
Lot of people doing these presentations now,but I would like to see you put up some more, very clear and precise. Good stuff!
I think the butterfly wrench is meant to be used to loosen wing nuts that are too tight. Then you can just unscrew them by hand.
Yes, but I haven't seen one of those since the 80s
Nice video man. I love the precise info with the examples. Keep making awesome content
Thanks, means a lot!
Great information! Thank you!
Good job, thank you for the video.
cool review. Thanks bud.
Thank you for the video. I just received one and found your video informative, especially the direction ancillary tool.
This tool came in my survival kit with the little card telling what each aspect of the tools are for. Nice job of demonstrating HOW they are to be used and, yes, I can see this as a helpful tool if you had nothing else to do the job and it is compact enough to require little space for carrying and storage. Great video! (I subscribed).
Thank you for the explanation.
Thank you very helpful im getting a first aid kit & one of these is included in there wasnt sure all it had now i know👍
Awesome video, thanks a lot!
That's just an old style can opener XD, you are using it in the wrong direction. Just switch directions and it should work just fine.
Lol I never had the need to use it so was figuring it out on the fly:) Thanks for watching Aaron!
What Aaron means is you hook it the same way but you move the cutting edge toward the hooks direction then move hook back farther and continue the cut edge again. In the Military it was called a P38 can opener and it folded up. Worked much better than this. Not sure about you but I've never found a wing nut that would fit in that butterfly slot. I think it is suppose to be used with the knife and used as a pair of scissors.. Just my thought.
Really good video man, I hope that you go far with the channel. I came here because I received one of these recently and was curious. The title of the video was the reason I originally chose this one to watch instead of the other ones. But, with that said, I was very impressed with the entire video... from the content and the way in which you clearly explained everything to the production side of it (and everything in between). I just hit the sub button and I’ll continue to support as long as you keep making content.
Really appreciate it man. Thanks for the kind words!
@@KnifeManual You’re more than welcome. I really do hope that your channel blows up. You’re doing everything right. Just keep doing that and you’ll be watching the numbers blow up. I’m definitely pulling for you
I just got one as part of a kit. Learned something new about how to use a makeshift compass.
Great Quality Video!
Great review... Thanks
Thanks man
Thank you. Excellent!
Great review man 👍clear, and easy to understand. And very realistic to. I have liked and followed. Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks for the info
Np🙂
Good video, keep up the good work.
awesome video!!!
These are emergency short temporary use only, eventually you return to your home and cable tv, if you don't and stay in the wilderness, give you time to get permanent stuff.
Great video helps a lot
Super helpful. I was looking at Swiss Army knives but finally realized that outside of a knife which I already have I’m probably not gonna use a lot of the tools on a Swiss Army knife very often so it’s mainly just for incidentals. When I saw this card I thought this is what I need for incidentals or emergencies, but I didn’t know how to use all the different features. So thank you for the video really helpful.
comprehensive and to the point. wish all DIY videos ware like this. tks.
Like others point out, your review is the most useful I've seen on CZcams. You might also review the common keychain tools. That eleven can be expanded. Here are some other uses:
(1) The lanyard hole can be used to bend wire.
(2) The wing-nut tool can be used to wrap some string as fishing line around the tool. Keep it in place with tape.
(3) The mirrored surface is small but still might work for signaling. You might test the range.
(4) I've played around with the compass on several of these tools and I'd hate to depend on any of them in an emergency situation. The pointing is too uncertain. It makes more sense to carry an actual compass. Someone should create a compass with a sealed needle that is thin enough to fit in a wallet.
Great video, Thank you! You deserve more subs!
I thought your presentation was extremely informative.
I got one of these little tools in my stocking this Christmas. I said “ oh, ok”, but didn’t know what to do with it. I was trying to figure out what all “tools” did. The package was useless. You defined for me exactly the information I was looking for. I just can’t believe that there’s videos out there that explore such mundane little products. Anyway, wow! Great job!!!
I carry one for in case ofs you never know when you might need or have a use for it. Thank you for explaining the different tools. Mine was a gift from my son.
Thanks amigo! I bought 3 of this tool. One for me, and 2 as a Christmas gift for two of my nieces. I really didn't know how the tool works. Now yes!! You did a god video. Thank you!
Glad you liked it:)
Found one of these while i was fishing and was wondering how to use it. Thanks for the demonstration. 👍
I've had mine for years, find it very handy. I've used the screwdriver, knife and bottle opener quite a bit, didn't find the saw much use,too short
Great descriptive videos
Thanks!
Great video! I find this to be a very useful review.
Glad you liked the video Laura!
Best video I’ve seen on this card. And I’ve seen a few.
I love mine. It’s come in handy many times.
Happy 2021 lol
Hey buy
As far as the little hole on the wrench is concerned, it is useful. Try tying dental floss to it and hang it from a branch and it will point north and south. You can use a lot of dental floss rapped around it because that can come in handy as well.
Thanks
Exactly. It is partly magnetised I believe. And if you don't have dental floss, and are in a true survival situation, one could always use the blade and harvest something similar. Like a thread off the user's clothing, hair, or fibres from a branch etc
I've got one I carry daily. I mostly get use out of the bottle opener but overall it's handy.
This a handy little card to add to a bug out bag.
Yep it sure is! Thanks for watching:)
Great video. I always wondered what you could do with one of those.
young guy, articulate and smart. I'm so happy to see you, I've been worried about our young generation. Its very refreshing to see a young guy so smart
Just bought a Legend of Zelda Collectors box at Target and it came with one of these doohickeys and thanks to this video I now know how to use one :D
Hey...I found your channel while researching these tools. Your hands-on review was stellar. Any testing on the Victorinox Swiss Cards? Hopefully you are still doing these reviews.Thank you.
I just received one from one of the charities, in the Marine Corps back in the days of C rations they called the can opener 'John Wayne's'.
Gracias, excelente explicación 👏
Hey thank you so much
mine mustve not been magnetized in the factory, ive tried the point to north locator in the most ideal conditions a thousand times, other than its a great piece of hardware
I have the exact same tool, just a cheaper version. I thought I'd find a video that has a similar suite of tools, never imagined I'd find the exact tool. So, there's that. Your demonstration was spot on. I'm not going to carry it on me, but I will throw it in the glovebox of my car. Just in case ;-) Great video dude!
Very well said..👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
thanks!
nice review, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!👍
Thank you kid, I've been watching to get my first IFAK, EDC etc... Greetings from Brasil
Good video. I was wondering about the butterfly wrench and directional finder. Not the first go to tool but for a few bucks I keep one in my backpack.
nice vid u will blow up some day keep up the good vids and edits
Thanks!😁
Thanks for the review. I wondered what the directional tool was for.
Thanks for watching Chris! Glad you liked the video:)
Great review, I had just ordered the Lever Gear Tool card before watching your video, I just hope that it is worth the money, as it cost a fair bit more than the one that you are reviewing, this will teach me to do my homework before buying something 👍
ty for teaching me how to use the (compass like feature was at a loss till now on how to use it tyvm
Thanks!
thank you!
Brilliant explanation of the credit card sized multitool - I have owned one for many years and never used it at all because I had this silly idea that it may come in handy
I have started going camping now and I have placed it back into my wallet (Just in case Lol)
This video Is a well presented and helpful documentation - very good
u can carry around for.cutting packages and no cop ever gonna pul u over but a knife will
I had an identical card multitol; since I lost the instruction for it, I didn't know what the circular direction finder was. Thank you.
You did a good job of explaining the functions of the tool. Frankly, I use the hole on the corner to put my key ring through it, LoL. This tool could be a life saver if you ever find yourself in the woods or if you live in a place where you get a lot've natural disasters . I could think of a hundred things that could happen to you and you don't have a simple tool to work with. I have this tool and I take it with me everywhere I go. Thank for the video young man.
I use this card everyday darn near as a general contractor I will say this card is not tecnacly mean to bank your life on but I find it very comfortable but you did teach me something new so thanks
Yep, it is a pretty nifty tool that is useful in a surprisingly large number of situations:) Glad you enjoyed the video!
This is a very good premise for a video and executed very well. I think the bottle opener alone would be the thing I use most if at all
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Nice job demonstrating. Like the others said about the can opener run it in the opposite direction. It is old school, like WWII old school. Nice job and keep them coming.
I think this is a really good emergency tool! I like it!
Exactly!
I keep a kit with this tool and some other's in my boat for emergencies.
Thank you
Thanks
I have no idea with ”direction ancillary indication“
Now I know that
I had no idea what the ancillary direction tool was, I found your video, now I know. Thanks. I agree, it's worth the $2 or so and I'm sure it'll turn out to be handy in the future. Upvoted & subscribed..
Ive been having this card for a while now. And i normally use it for a quick knife or the bottle opener
