Paul contradicts God's word in torah. Deut 23 Thou shalt not deliver unto his master the servant which is escaped from his master unto thee. Paul disobeys God and returns a runaway slave to his master, philemon 1:12

Deuteronomy Speaks of FORCING the return of slave to it's master. Further it tells us to allow the slave to live where it may and do not oppress it. Paul did not force Onesimus to return but knew that he must in order to heal the rift between Philemon and Onesimus. Paul gave Godly advice to both and I believe they both followed it.

@@jimcoleman3053 Deut 23:16 is specific. "you shall not return him", nothing about "forcing". Deut 23:16 does stipulate " if he seeks refuge with you from his master", so you are saying the slave did not seek refuge from his master? But philemon 1:12 says ""Whom I have sent again". Nothing in philemon suggests the slave does not seek refuge from his master and chooses to return?

@@jimcoleman3053 Sorry you are wrong. Paul sends the slave back. He does an action. Deuteronomy forbids that very action.

@@jimcoleman3053 - see my comment: Paul would not return a runaway slave. And in this case, there is no runaway slave to return - that's a horrible misreading created by #majority culture (and #majority commentaries). There is no runaway slave in the text.
