- After an inexcusable offence by Nintendo in the first game, I was too rattled to perform well in the following few games. I have never been so heated at this game as I was during that moment. Shortly after, I decided to trivialize the matchmaking system to earn back some of my rank. Then, in the 5th game, I had another moment that was probably the angriest I've ever been at this game. I'm not someone who gets upset playing a video game, but this trumped the earlier moment as the most heated I have ever been at this game. Finally, I kept on grinding to keep my promise I made at the beginning of the video.

The timer only counts down when you are setting up the shot, not when the ball is in the air. That other guy probably just took more shots than you in less time, so they still had time left because theres a bunch of time between shots that doesnt effect the timer

@8:44 I believe that what is happening in that situation (one player having more time than the other) is as follows, and I am speaking from a position of someone who is observing only, and has no experience with the game but I believe I have an idea.
I think what is happening is that their game is taking longer to transition between strokes. So you are spending time practicing your swing, adjusting for wind, etc. which is eating time because you are actively on the clock, however when you make your swing and the ball is moving, landing, and you are watching cinematics the timer seemingly pauses, or at the very least counts down at a vastly decelerated rate.
That other player is likely watching all the cinematics shots, all replays provided, and may even possibly be playing with lag which causes the game to take longer to position them properly on the green when they are ready to take their next stroke. As a result the clock stays paused longer for them, and despite the fact they are taking longer, as a result they have more time to make their final strokes.
this is obviously the case, no idea why it takes this guy so long to swing anyway, should never be that low on time. slow players in this game are the worst

I THOUGHT I WAS GOING CRAZY WITH THAT ONE HOLE. I was literally losing my mind hitting it into the water and then one would be off the back of the green holy shit no wonder I can’t get that hole right
The amazing thing is that he got zero points on a hole and still didn't get eliminated
I despise the micro put glitch so much, especially when I’m on a win streak or in a competitive rally, it completely kills my mojo and honestly my enjoyment. The only solution I’ve tried to find is, if you’re used to putting with a straight hand and arm (gripped joycon pointing directly at the ground), start pointing down and then rotate your hand back so it creates a 30degree angle from the ground, and then hit the reset stance button. Go back to your normal putting form afterwards. I find that if it thinks it’s coming from an angle, you’re starting higher even tho your hand is back in the normal putting position, thus tricking it into a further follow through and a more even shot that is similar to a glitch-free power shot. Hopefully I explained that properly lol.
I always hated hole 7 and now I know why - thank you for sharing those clips of glitches. Frustrating to say the least

I get it. Nintendo hasn't given their players a reason to play other than enjoyment. No more collections, no seasons or tournaments or anything, no alternative game modes to grind. The only thing to work towards at this point is rank.

Really depends on the hole. Usually I'm pretty quick but if it's a significant shot or hole I'll take my time

the other guy was probably spending less time lining up shots, so his timer wasnt actively going down

If your name is Sensei you can't be mad about one hole for 3 matches! What happens on hole 1 stays on hole 1, you move on to the next hole and reset your mindset! This is some sound advice my dad gave me when actually playing golf, it also applies in switch golf tho!

I think the glitch on hole 7 is fair because as you go ahead on the first fairway the more downhill you'll get compared with the hole position but if you are way back your position compared with the hole position is way high
He hit the exact same power, from the exact same distance. That is not a fair glitch and shouldn't be in the game

Can’t believe you ran out of time early in the video. Maybe they should always give you 3-5 seconds per shot even if you’re at the end of the time limit so you can at least attempt a shot real quick.
Would have been nice but realistically you don't need that much time. I just got distracted by something else then was annoyed that the other guy kept golfing after I had run out and got 0 points
Part of the reason you need to "trivialize" the match making is because so many people are doing it. Imagine there are 100 S4+ players playing at any given moment. If 90 of them are using external systems to match with each other, then that leaves only 10 players (1/10 of what should exist) as part of the regular match making system for players not using it and they are scattered across games starting every couple minutes. Imagine if you got 10x the number of S-rank players in regular queues. Would you really feel the need to coordinate to make these lobbies?
Also I disagree with "high-risk, low-reward" for lobbies with much worse players. They are rated much worse than you because they should be so easy to beat for someone of your rank. That is why you get so little reward for winning, you basically have no risk of losing. You normally win or barely get 2nd for every game in these lobbies which just shows how easy they are for you. Now playing in lobbies with other people of the same rank, you didn't win near as much.
I am sure this system is using a modified ELO system. Something you should really check out before making these claims. These systems essentially have you risk points against how likely you are to win. If the system thinks you have a 90% chance to win and then you lose, you drastically under-performed the systems ranking of you and you lose a lot of points. Conversely, when you win, you only slightly over-perform and gain little rank. A good example would be betting on all numbers in roulette but 1, 0, 00. Odds are you will hit a number you bet on and win a small amount. But when you lose you lose big. That is essentially what those lobbies are, a 90% chance to gain 10 rank and a 10% chance to lose 90. Essentially balanced when you take the weighted average. The only way to move up is to overperform the system's current estimate of your skill. That may mean winning more than 90% of the games against low rated opponents if that is what your current rank is estimated to do. Ideally these systems have you play against others of similar ranks so your expected win rate is approximately 50%, but if a large percentage of players at or above your skill are using these alternate match making methods, the system can't pair you up with them consistently.
