    Entire CG character modeled, rigged textured and mocapped for 8 seconds of screen time... sounds about right. Thanks for the BTS!

    The stop-motion is so smooth, I was convinced it was CG made to look like stop-motion (a la Lego Movie). The amount of work that went into matching the lighting alone is insane!

    Mad respect... this was an awesome short film that utilized stop motion SO WELL and the bonus (equally excellent) BTS was the cherry on top!

    I like how there are more than one guard for such a small studio and that they are equipped with guns to protect an almost empty set.

    I thought making it silent was a great way to make it international! Shout out to Sam as stop motion is such a skill, even more so if he was animating at 24fps...

    I assumed they just cheated and used CGI for the skeleton because the animation was too good. Incredible.

      Same. I actually marvelled at how they lowered the skeleton's frame rate to make it look stop-motion. Astonishing that it actually was.

    I think the character Phil is named after Phil Tippet the famous Stop-Motion animator.

    Truly amazing and heart felt. It's a very empathic look at the past technologies in film that are superseded. The past methods still have soul and live on in the minds of those old enough to remember. Have to say I shed a tear 😢

      Same and there's a special magic and life with practical effects that you just can't capture with most CGI, though mixing practical and CGI has come close (Where the Wild Things Are I'm looking at you).

    This was impressive, and awesome to see what all goes into the short. For the film, I was hoping a little better for Phil. Especially as I am a middle-aged Phil who is kind of floating at the moment between having been a talented software developer (still am, but no one wants to hire a 50+ developer), and possibly doing something else (dabbling in VO at the moment). Hopefully Phil will get a sequel where he will find his calling and satisfaction in his later years!

    Mad respect, lots of ingenuity and hard work, and yes being a silent short film made it better. With dialogues, it could have been entertaining too but then not unique. Except that the has been being a skeleton.
