This is the community we need back, a lot of og’s who were in the game slowly left the community because it soon just became about exclusivity, hyped up collabs, and high resell prices. What happened to pple just having memories about a shoe and wearing them until you need a new pair? What happened to pple copping what they like instead of what everybody likes in order to flip a dollar for profit? At the end of the day I can go on and on about this subject but even tho I’m 28 I am a purist and I love wearing my sneakers. The only time I see fit to sell a pair of shoes are if I’m downsizing my collection or I’ve decided to move on and do other things in my life.

But one thing is for sure resellers couldn’t hope to resell anymore people already don’t like paying resell prices but Ik if it’s a $200 shoe being resold for $500 plus most of us smart people are going to take the L so if people eventually started buying the upped price the upped price would already be so expensive no one is willing to pay more . I hate paying $350 to $400+ but that’s not that far off from retail so sometimes I might see myself buying it , but if the shoe retails for $350 - $500 in the future that’s going to leave very little profit for resell bc most people are not going to spend $500+ on non designer shoes

As an elder sneaker head who first fell in love with shoes at 12 back in 88 the game has changed way too much for me. Now it's like I can't get any of the kicks that come out that I like or want. I remember having to be at the mall at like 4 in the am to make sure I was first or early enough in line to get a shoe. Especially since I was a size 14, they usually only had 2 of my size, so I HAD to be there as early as I could. Yeah, it sucked but it was because I wanted the SHOE. And as you said you left like aww man that's it because it was not to resell. I've always hooped in and/or rocked all of my kicks since day one. Anyway, I appreciate this video.

This is probably the best video I have ever seen on this topic....I've been a sneakerhead for over 25 years....Thank you for this!!!!
I've been buying shoes since 1993 my first signature pair of kicks was the reebok kamikaze...the issue with resellers now is people that SHOULD NOT BE RESELLING ARE RESELLING....if you are not getting multiple pairs of shoes, building connections and partners why are you reselling? if you are buying shoes that have no resell value why are you buying to resell? I live in portland I used to resell but I sold for retail because I got them from the employee store, but I also would have so many pairs I was not trying to scam anyone for kicks. when it comes to shoes these days I will not buy from a reseller unless its someone I know (shout out to Terence and Mikey from Indexpdx). back in the day the only shoes that were resold were QS or shoes that were limited NOT GENERAL RELEASES!!! but we're in a culture now where people are trying to penny pinch their way to a million. Many of these people are just lazy and dont want to work a real job and they want to flex for IG its a real IG model culture which is weird to me but Im also over 30 so what do I know? I still have my connections so I dont have to buy from resellers unless its something from a few years ago I missed and I only buy from Indexpdx I refuse to buy from these scammers.
Stockx and NIKE imo have partnered to resell shoes because how the hell are this many people getting shoes so early and so many pairs??? I think stockx is getting the shoes from nike early and raping people the nike air trainer 3 the viotech is the perfect example they were trying to resell that shoe for 300 before they came out I was stunned like how is this shoe so expensive there has been no ads or mentions of this shoe coming out....as soon as it came out it sat on there for around 330 and by august the shoe was below retail!!! this is all a scam!! if I miss a shoe and my connections dont have it....I dont need it.

I’m someone who grew up not so much into sneakers bc I knew how expensive they were. After working and creating my collection by shopping at outlets, I fell in love with sneakers and the culture. However, today I find it so annoying to see ppl buying sneakers just to flip and inflate the prices. I want to appreciate my purchase, not worry about the “value”. I think reselling has created such a negative impact on the decisions some ppl make. I want to rock what I like, not impulse buy bc they’ll sellout quick or maybe increase in value. We have to take back this community and get back to the reality of simply buying what u like and enjoying life in them!

That being said, I am now trying to get a hot drop purely for resale so I can get the money to buy some 4's I cannot afford. ( unions ) , maybe some bloodline 1's. My point is your forced to be a reseller unless you have the funds. Its a self sustaining situation.

Thanks for the work y’all put in! I’m so tired of paying after retail prices or missing a release cause my size is gone very quickly! A pair of off white might run retail $190 but I have to pay over $500+ shipping to get a pair, meanwhile so ass got 8 pair just sitting on em for year cause he wants $500+ for em!

I really appreciate the both of you. I’m a true sneaker head who loves to wear my sneakers. I have been into sneakers since the early 80’s. Keep up the great work.

Completely agree. Great video. Thanks for all that you do. I'm 47. Played basketball at a high level. Been a true "Sneaker head" from the age of 12. It's very frustrating when a true fan can't get the shoe they would like

This was lovely. I’ve been a long time viewer of WearTesters and I’ve been a Sole Savy member for 2 months. They are legit and the community is real supportive. Happy that this conversation is happening more and more.

That's why there is a big community that only wear reps.

Loved the vid! Thank you for this vital info for the real ones in the sneaker community. I’ve been part of the community since elementary school when I studied all of your videos for the tech specs of all my fav shoes to ball up in. Recently I got scammed out of $200 trying to do resale for the Kobe V 1/2 Big Stage Parade. It was my last resort because that shoe meant a lot to me after the passing of my idol. I cried days on end after the tragedy and was looking forward to this release even prior to his tragic passing. I’ve been trying to look for these kicks ever since and nothing but a bunch of resellers tripling the price. Thank you for looking out and educating the community. Much love and congrats on all your success by brotha ✊🏽

Chris, this why I love you so much cause of videos like this! I'd like to think I'm from the 1st Gen of Sneakerheads and it's disgusting how far this has come! I still remember the day when I was in high school and my mother gave me the money to buy the FIRST Air Jordans down the street from her job for $64.99!!! She thought I had lost my mind spending that much on a sneaker!!!
