Matt is best known as the drummer for the metalcore band, August Burns Red. In addition to power, precision and speed, a great sense of groove is always present in Matt's playing, earning him accolades all over the world.
The Matt Greiner signature stick features a medium diameter shaft with extended length and an elongated taper. A uniquely shaped wood tip provides great definition for intricate hi-hat & ride patterns while being bold enough to ride on the crash, china or heavy bells. The stick is finished off with a "dry-tumble" technique that creates a very smooth, natural and organic feel without the use of a lacquer finish.

Man, I want to be Matt. He's a handsome dude, he's got strong faith, and he's probably the best drummer in the metalcore realm right now. I just got these sticks yesterday, and they're really great.
I WANT MATT 'S STICK! :D never thought i'd say that....
haha awesome, put it in good use! ;)
you bet i will! :D
these sticks are actually pretty fucking good. i saw a pair behind the desk at guitar center, they weren't even out on display. tried them out then i told them i wanted 5 pairs and they were irritated because they had to go back into the warehouse to get the rest of them out of boxes haha.
I love the pyramid of sticks in the back
Love those hi-hats
These are my favorite sticks to play with!!! Totally recommend these!!!
I love these sticks, and I use them for everything!!! Anyone can play these sticks for virtually anything other lighter stuff like jazz and such.
I love this guy, such an inspiration to others
I wasn't familiar with Matt's playing until now. I've always heard he's really good, but never checked out his music. He is a certified monster on the kit! The way he talks about his sticks shows his intelligence and commitment to the craft. You got a new fan, Matt!
I like the pyramid of sticks that he has on the amplifier.I think the in between 5A and 5B for the sticks is a great idea. Does the unfinished sticks make them not be as slick as say the finished sticks in other words not having them slip out of your hands while playing?
that is the idea
I love abr but i dont really play metal by myself. I buyed a pair of his sticks over a year ago i think when i saw abr live, the time the stick was just a prototype and he sold only a few at shows. I normally play 5A so i use them sometimes to practice. Really great sticks and perfect for Metal.
dude i use them for jazz
So cool to have been a part if making this video! Thanks guys!!
These sticks feel amazing! Definitely my favorite to use!
My name's Mike I dont play drums so what do you like about Mattys stick?
Vic Firth, Take my money!
One of the best drummers of our generation. I normally like Power 5a or 5b from Vater, but I dislike the diameter (small), also the barrell tip.
For exactly the reasons Mr. Greiner here was talking about "definition" cymbal wise. Will be picking up a brick of these for sure!
I've been wanting these sticks for a while and I'm crazy for them bc I love the fact that there heavier in the hand and lighter at the top it sounds like it gives good rebound and I'm so exited to get them soon and tbh I don't listen to abr
I must be late to the party. This guy can really play! What band(s)?
Jonas Butler August Burns Red
i´m a german drummer and play i metalcore,i use vic virth sticks too and i cant remember when i use other sticks, cause vic virth are the best sticks i ever used...hope it goes on ^^
nobody does it better than Vic
Not really an August Burns Red fan but I like these sticks. I need to try them asap.
Time to get some of these!
I know the focus of this video is the sticks--but those hi hats sound GREAT
Totally have sticks signed by this guy!!!
man, who is this guy? he rocks!
MugginFuggin, it looks like he's using Drumtacs. They are Moongels new competition it seems.
That had to be the dallas show in the back ground! i was there!
Adam Levine on the drumset
ive been waiting for so long...
suuuuuuch a great drummer
I want that stick!!!!!
That guy is pretty good!!!
Flow is important..balance as well..COOL IDEA.
those sticks are sick
Hey! I've been playing with these sticks for a while, absolutely loving them! Though, I'm ending up even breaking them quite fast. I'm guessing it's the hats. I'm actually playing the same hats as in this video. Matt seems to do fine with his sticks combined with the session hats!
can you tell me the hi hat model please ?
Alessandro Streri Those are Zildjian 14" K-custom session hihats! Higly recommended! Best hats I've played!
i love these sticks they are amazing
Lengthen by 4/16" lol come on Vic Firth reduce yo' fractions
What?
I just watched this video and I’m like man I hope someone notices that lol
@@ferd1572 It's 1/4 of an inch.
Finally!
smooth ! i wonder what kind of snare and hats he is using ...
He's definitely using one of his own companies custom snares (GreinerKilmer), and he's most likely using Zildjian K Session hi hats 14in. Hope that helps!
Not a fan, but i use his model. Great sticks nice length
whats that little circle pad on his snare?
i Have those sticks :)
1. The fact that he said that drummers are concerned with power instead of flow makes me proud to listen to ABR without feeling guilty of loosing my musician dignity.
2.How the hell do get to be part of company where the WANT to make you a signature stick?
The video is interesting itself, not that drummer-drums-video-stuff, logical, good camera, storytelling - I like it.
wat song is being played at the beginning of this vid and at 5:29
Anyone know what the dampener is on his snare?
Drumtacs
Thanks!
increased by 4/16"
Anyone know which china he's using on the right?
i think maybe just a normal Zildjian A?
*****
He isn't using an Oriental (except for the small one in the middle) in this one. I want to know the one on the right not in the middle. It might be just a Zildjian A. Definitely not A custom or K custom nor Oriental.
but there wasnt a red logo on it?
Zildjian k custom hybrid? that's what i remember him using before the oriental
Soooooo, where can we buy/get this stick?
There's a buy now button right on Matt's artist page. Link in the description. :D
Oh, great! Been waiting for this for almost 2 years. Thanks to all of you! Much love! No homo. :D
what drum heads are those?
emperor vintage on toms but I was wondering for the snare... if someone knows please tell us! thanks!
Flodrums26 It's a Coated Ambassador on the snare.
Kaleb Kilmer Thank you sir! I never thought it was an ambassador!
What china is he using in the video?
RF_burns_red zildjian 18 inch oriental China trash
No I actually did some research and it's a Zildjian 19 inch K China
DankFuzzball58 he stopped using that ages ago but yeh that's he one in the video ok
Please tell me he's not using remo now
I think he is a remo endorser
he switched to remo about a year ago
Also, this is my personal opinion, his drums sound way better
a little difficult to compare a DW drum with a Truth one but i think you can find videos of him using truth/remo, but yeah they sound better :P
True that
The only song he seems to play off the new record....:/
***** This song means a lot to him. He wrote the lyrics after a really bad experience with a dude who took a lot of money from him.
But it's not like it's a bad song! Haha the drums for it are great!
However, i would like to see him play Count It All As Lost.
Matt is Ripped.
.....never had the experience of inconsistency with vic firth? seriously?
i go to any drum shop, pick up three pairs of the same stick, and each one feels different.
sorry, not buying VF
Andrew Minarik they can’t all feel the same, but each of the 2 in each pair will feel exactly the same. Remember there’s no way they can make them all the same coz wood is natural therefore can’t be controlled
Basically a 3A diss haha
shut up and take my money!
This guy has a very strange grip.. Looks like he uses only his wrist and no fingers at all , grabbing the stick like it's the last thing he would have in hands.
hahaha but they're surely relaxed, although seem to be tense; otherwise, he'd be in trouble already. And honestly, for this kind of music, it looks definitely way nicer than Virgil Donati's grip, for example hahaha.
mosh
Provisions! ljfqkje
Not really liking the natural finish of the stick. Play with these for a couple of hours, and it'll give u blisters
Not a bad drummer, but his technique is...questionable. Waaaaaay too much forearm in his playing as opposed to wrist. And the lengthening of the stick is not really the correct response to his playing, he should bring his cymbals lower and perhaps slant them so he's not just destroying his cymbals and sticks.
He's quite precise I'd say from the 6 times I've seen him live. No one's perfect, but for what he's does I've never seen him get off or really mess up. I see your point though.
I'm not saying that he's sloppy or anything, but with that type of forearm usage in his technique his ability to groove is sort of compromised and he runs the risk of an injury. Though, I guess he really doesn't have to groove in the band he plays for, so it still works.
Devin Greig I completely agree
Devin Greig Yeah, I've always thinking the same thing about how he hits the cymbals, he moves a lot the forearm instead of the wrist. I think it's because of the accentuation he puts on it, but I'm also a drummer and my school was "it's all about the wrist". Well, I guess it works for him, and he's a great drummer, really fast and precise.
There’s no proper protocol when it comes to technique. Even Buddy Rich played in a way that the modern drumming school would consider to be wrong. This thing Matt does with his forearm works for him, so no point in changing it.
