Great pedal! First one I've been tempted by in months! I see it's analog dry-through, which is excellent. But is that also the case with the tremolo circuit? I struggle to see how that is possible with trem, unless it is an analog trem
Dang, I bought the dark side (for the delay or phase/flange) and the dynatrem (using it for the reverb), I might want to switch for a new ECCOS/HYDRA + another fuzz setup in a while for added versatility and stereo and looper.
14:59 “it’s gonna sound weird in your ears.” Lol one of the reasons I bought this beauty of a pedal! looking forward to experimenting further with it on my stereo rig! Thanks for the rocking demo, Rabea! And thanks Robert Keeley for the rocking pedal!
Couple of nights ago, I was browsing eBay, Reverb, and the web in general, trying to scratch my pedal/GAS itch. Was looking at harmonic tremolo pedals, some reverb units, and then stumbled across this video. Next day, I was straight into Andertons like a rat up a drainpipe, and I'm now the proud owner of a Keeley Hydra. Today, I had a blissful couple of hours getting totally lost in those sounds, and learning to play Rabea's intro chords from the vid. It's a sound I've heard in my head a million times, but never been able to reproduce myself - until now! Thanks Robert - thanks Rabea!
Rabea, thank you once again for a phenomenal review. I got an Eccos the other month and whilst I always subtly knew I'd end up with a Hydra, this sealed the deal for me. Epic stuff!
Stunning as always man, you're playing, explanations, just top notch. I think my Hydra is coming tomorrow! Keeley is such a great guy and makes such musical stuff. This new platform is so alive and 3d sounding. Unlike any dsp I've heard. 🍻
I am so glad to hear some players do solo guitar work with reverb and/or delay that is super ambient. This is a cool pedal. I still have my caverns reverb which I am so satisfied with. Actual physical pedals could be handy if you want to do a live gig, but some computer stuff could be used if you want too live if you have a pretty portable setup, I saw devin townsend use some great tones on a computer setup live.
This would have been cool as "just" a reverb ..... Then the tremolo kicks in! WOW! A nicely thought out (and very usable pedal.) This one will sit next to my Keeley 4 knob comp.
Stellar review and demo, Bea! Your knowledge of pedals and tone is just out of this world. One of the best guitarists and guitar-related creators on this platform 🤘🏻
Thanks Rabea for making me feel good about having bought one of those Hydras. I was thinking about getting the Strymon Flint or the Bluesky and pair it with my Supro Trem last weekend, then this one came along with such perfect timming that now I don´t know what I´m gonna do with the Supro once the Hydra arrives home, for now I can´t wait to compare them both.
Keeley is killing it with these reverbs, I'm having a bear of a time trying to decide between the DDR and the Hydra. Seems like a good enough reason to go with both....wife is going to kill me
The stereo vibrato kinda makes it it's own thing tbh, it's a great reverb, but with that stereo vibrato set subtle, it just makes everything super wide and liquidy
My man Robert strikes again!!! His pedals are so good...love my 30ms and Comp. pedals. I've been looking at the Flint, Mr. Black, and/or the Milkman Trem/Verb pedals... This is probably gonna be the one.
I’ve looked at all those too. I love the tones and trem options on the flint but this thing’s tones are killer, I like vibrato and harmonic trem, and the stereo I/O and ez panning options with the push button knob + presets really do it for me. This things got everything Also it’s hard find a good sounding spring in a multi-reverb And good lord it’s single size wtf is this sorcery
That's a killer pedal. I have a Neunaber Immerse and a Supro Tremolo, so those sounds are my favorites. I may have to sell the other two and get this one pedal.
What super tones you pull out of that guitar. The Keeley wasn't bad either 😀 I think it sounds great, and you did a superduper review of it. Thanks! My only concern is that I would be spending too much time fiddling with the settings and all the possibilities available in the pedal. At least for my gigging pedal board I need my pedals to be set and go, so I can concentrate on my playing instead of bending down to adjust some setting, just because it invites me too. But you sure got me tempted to get one 😀 Cheers, Thor
I think I just found a Flint killer. Been wanting to get a Flint for a very long time but never did for various reasons. Somehow I totally missed the Hydra but I think I prefer it.
Hey! Can you please recommend me a better alternative to the hydra today? I'm kind of new to the pedal world But I think I need a stereo option. I'm looking for an effect pedal to use with my *digital piano* and hopefully future Synth, right now mainly with Piano and Rhodes sounds. I want to have a unique signature expression. I (aspire to) play mostly Jazz, funk, fusion stuff like Vulfpeck, Cory Wong, Scary Pockets and DOMi & JD Beck. This will be my first effect pedal/s I buy. Budget around 250$ but I can stretch a little. Any specific recommendations? Thank you!
As a reverb junky, i have to say this is some of the best reverb tones i have ever seen out of a pedal. I had a Keeley Aurora, and this sounds similar, just on major steroids!
kind of weird because normally you want tremelo before the amp and rev after ,so if you put the pedal before you are forced to set the amp pretty much clean .and if you put the pedal last I don't know how good may sound the tremolo .
I ended up buying this pedal. It covers all the reverb/trem territory I need + the surprise bonus that the harmonic trem does a solid enough Uni-Vibe sound that I don’t feel the need to dream about the $400 Dry Bell Vibe
Looks like a lot of learning curve. I bought a "Flint" pedal that I was going to demo when this one came out and i missed the return window. We'll see. One feature on both is the above to control parameters with a pedal. A good comparison would be "Hydra Vs. Flint." Sounds like a Gojira film.
@@user-wv5gv3dw5u It's pretty much what @flyon Donnie said. guitar to pedal then two lines out to two different inputs on the Focusrite, in your DAW send one input to one channel then the other input to another channel, pan them L/R If your using an amp sim put it on each channel with slightly different EQs.
I can't thank you enough for the review Rabea. You're so right, the combo of Eccos and Hydra is many, many hours of creative fun.

Stunning reverb sounds, on par with my Axe FX III. That shimmer is just right too, not overbearing or overly bright but totally epic.
The smile that he couldn't contain when he started playing the vibrato with the shimmer plate convinced me to buy one.
Rabea. Your aggressive playing is brutally awesome, and your ambient playing is so good too. Thanks for the great vids...💚🎸

Yes please, do a combo video.... would love to hear that - exceptional playing sir!!
I don't think you were trying to do this, but that intro reminded me of Can't Help Falling In Love With You by Elvis Presley.
Was just about to comment this. :D

This guy's excellent playing showcases the magnificience of the Keeley Hydra !

that STRAT!!! man nice to see it back
Rabea, these demos of yours are not short, but they are so worthwhile. Very nice job.
Fantastic pedal
Sounds absolutely amazing. I would love a video lesson on some ambient guitar chords!
Excellent detailed review. Thank you Rabea
Almost sounds like a Univibe pedal with the sine and harmonic tremolo settings.
Listening with head phones ,, great stereo effects 👍👍
Great demo Bea!
How square wavey / struttery does the amplitude trem go at extreme depth setting?
Great musical demo!
Waiting for pedal companies to up their game and release Dolby Atmos pedals
Great review, really sweet playing. Excellent.

WOW THIS SOUNDS GLOROIUS
If you own the Caverns would it be worth getting the hydra.
where are the other two cables plugged into? FX loop?

Digitech Polara is a great reverb pedal too. 😉

2 jacks

How do I record stereo pedals in stereo to a DAW? I have a focusrite and a preamp
Use two inputs in your interface. The DAW should have an option for setting the inputs on a track to stereo (something like “Stereo: Inputs 1 & 2”).
